Common Questions and Answers about Coreg and cough

coreg

Avatar n tn I have CHF and EF of 25%, currently on 80 mg of Coreg and 30 mg lisinopril along with lasixs. I asked my doctor the same question. I was informed that if I stopped the Coreg my heart would eventually return to the same EF of 25%. Not a wise thing to stop the medication. You are at risk for Sudden Death Syndrome. If your heart were to get into an irregular rythm you could die. Please advise him to talk to his doctor.
Avatar m tn all due to an MI and stent in RCA. Dr took me off lisinopril due to dry cough about 6 weeks ago and upped coreg to 6.25 mg. cough resolved but I have been having early morning rapid heart beat (wakes me up) in recent weeks and my tinnitus has become much worse. My upper back pain which started while on drugs is also worse since the dosage went up.
Avatar n tn My Glucose jumped from 120 average to 176 average, I have a productive cough and my lungs feel like I have been strangled (like when you get water in your lungs swimming ) I have gained 9 lbs and I get dizzy and almost faint(if I don't set down). After doing much research on the subject, I have come to the conclusion it is the Carvedilol, I am taking the smallest effective dose, but I Just can't seem to tolerate it.
Avatar f tn Okay 2 stents put in May 26 this year. Went home with coreg, lisipronil and plavix all new. Had shortness of breath for next several days and doc took me off Coreg this past Tuesday. I still have shortness of breath most of the day (none at night while sleeping) and I have noticed an almost constant runny nose.Has anyone heard of this? Any ideas?
Avatar f tn It is a combination of Coreg and Tropol XL, I believe. This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states. I am not sure what the name will be of the medication when it becomes available in the US. Salmon, fish oil, and dark chocolate have been shown to raise HDL levels. Your level should be in the 50's if you can get it there.
Avatar n tn I had the problem with coreg (beta blocker and ace inhibitor). Coreg Cr is a single slow acting dose, and the same coreg dosage split to twice a day (morning and night) was more effective. Talk to your doctor.
Avatar f tn My electrophysiolgist/cardiologist prescribed Coreg and Lisinopril for my condition. I have episodes of ventricular tachycardia, apparently brought on by a focal wall abnormality in my left ventricle. I also have atrial fibrillation. I have an ICD as well. When I mention to other doctors that I take these medications, they insist I must have high blood pressure. I don't have high blood pressure and never have.
Avatar m tn It is safe and does not come with any risks, so if you are on good anti-anginal medications such as beta-blockers (I know you are on Coreg) and nitrates and/or ranexa and you are still having angina then I would recommend EECP if we could not fix anything with another stent.
Avatar m tn I was on coreg when I was in the hospital and was discharged. I was on coreg for 2 months and then my Cardiologist took me off it. He tried Lisinopril while I was in the hospital however the combo of HCTZ and Coreg and the Ace inhib was causing me to feel dizzy and ill. Now it has been 8 months after my hospitalization and they are trying Lisinopril again. I am up to 5mg and my BP is 90/60 , I feel a little off balance.
Avatar n tn t help me, Saw Palmetto which helps for those special intimate times if your a guy. I gave up on Coreg, just gave me the shoots and chronic cough. Lasix also just makes me stupid/confused but I don't have a water retention problem anyway so that one was pointless. Just on Enalapril and Metoprolol extended release. Keeping my pressure in the 120-140 over 58-72 range with a HR in the 68-85 range.
Avatar n tn I was just put on coreg since june6th and have been having severe headaches from it and tiredness. Is there any side effects between these three that can give me these headaches? I was fine until I was out on coreg.
Avatar n tn I take coreg with lisinopril to lower heart rate and lower blood pressure. Coreg can lower the HR, and as you know, I very slow heart rate can cause clots, and with MVR an individual is more vulnerable. My docotor wants my BP as low as possible without side effects such as passing out!. And I believe the lowest possible BP is generally the goal as you stated. But coreg also effects the heart rate, so that enters the equation for optimal dosage.
Avatar m tn I was on coreg, ACE-I, spironolactone, asprin etc. With 12.5 mg x2 coreg and 5mgx2 ACE-I daily I was doing well with my walking and heart condition was more or less stable. Four months after MI I changed my cardiologist and he advised to increase coreg gradually to 25mgx2 daily. I have reached a level of 18.75mgx2 daily in next one month. Thereafter I lost my capacity to walk by half. While walking as soon as my pulse goes beyond 105 bpm I start feeling lightness in head, tired and low.
Avatar n tn Coreg helps regulate a normal heartbeat and lower blood pressure. A reduction to 3.125 twice a day is lowest therapeutic value, and the medication should not be discontinued without doctor's advice. If you had a minor heart attack, you may need medication. I don't know of any weight gain associated with coreg, the reduction of coreg may be for other reasons other than weight gain.
406412 tn?1217438384 .Correg is a beta blocker and by blocking the receptors it reduces the heart's rate and FORCE of contraction and thereby reduces the work of the heart. Coreg also blocks adrenergic receptors (QACE inhibitor) on arteries and causes the arteries to relax and the blood pressure to fall. The drop in blood pressure further reduces the work of the heart since it is easier to pump blood against a lower pressure.
Avatar m tn He has me dropping to 12.5 of the Coreg and 50mg of the Tenormin twice a day for 4 days and then 6.25 Coreg and 50 Tenormin twice a day for 4 days, and then only the Tenormin 50 to 75 twice a day depending on BP numbers. Any one have any knowledge or thoughts about this? BTW I trust my Cardiologist but am nervous anytime I have to change meds!
Avatar n tn I was previously on 12.5 mg of Coreg 2X a day for high blood pressure. I am also taking 10mg of Lexapro a day for anxiety. This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). This was 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the same fatigue. How long does Coreg stay in your system after you stop taking it?
Avatar n tn I also was taking 50 mg of coreg I felt fatigue and just not feeling good. I cut to 25 and feel much more energy plus just plain feel better. I also am now on lexapro which really helps.
Avatar f tn Other than lowering your pulse and blood pressure, if you took Coreg but did not need it, could it cause other damage? What symptoms would you have? I am on Coreg as a trial to see if it fixes my chronic shortness of breath. I just wondered if it was safe to do so or if it could cause permanent damage if in fact I did not need it.
475570 tn?1280941363 I take coreg twice a day, but coreg cr is a slow release medication for once a day. The recommendation is 1 capsule each morning wih breakfast that will help lower blood pressure all day and all night.
Avatar m tn I would like to have kids but I am so scared that I may have a child with birth defects because of the medication I take. I take Coreg, Furosemide And Lisinopril. I am so afraid that the medication I take may cause a birth defect if I have a child. Does anyone anything about these medications and what they might do or not do, when trying to have children. Is there anything I need to do or be aware of. Thanks in advance.
475570 tn?1280941363 It seems logical to take the medication with the morning meal. I take Coreg twice a day, rather than Coreg CR one a day with the extended release. My blood pressure and heart rate is very good.
