concussion

Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I know this is an odd topic, but I'm worried. I had a mild concussion and went to a doctor, who gave me a CT scan that came back negative, meaning everything in my brain looked fine. Two weeks after the concussion I mastrubated, and I was worried that it could've worsened the condition of my concussion or even caused a chronic subdural hematoma, just because I know you're supposed to take it easy after a concussion and orgasm raises your BP and all.
Avatar f tn Has your doctor tested to see if a rise in blood pressure aggravates or causes the return of your concussion symptoms. Your recovery time generally depends upon this assessment. A recent study conducted by the University of Buffalo’s Concussion Management Clinic suggests that cardio vascular exercise performed on a equipment that does not involve a lot of impact or bouncing such as a stationary bike, elliptical or treadmill can speed the recovery process. One of the lead researchers Dr.
Avatar f tn Full recovery is expected from an uncomplicated concussion. But symptoms such as prolonged dizziness, memory loss, decreased mental functioning, irritability, and headaches may occur. If cold compress or over-the-counter pain medications do not help, have this checked by your doctor for proper management. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn Ok so I have had close to the whole chart in symptoms of a concussion 7 months post impact. I was recovering at a fairly normal pace until about 3/4 weeks into recovery when pain worse than when I had the initial headache from trauma. Keep in mind at that point I was a healthy 15 year old boy that was extremely active. Well anyway the pain that had returned from nowhere was increasing gradually for about one and a half months until the pain was so intense I had to go to the ER at 1am.

Avatar m tn My concussion occurred 37 days ago when I slipped and fell backwards hitting the back of my head on a turf surface. In terms of the concussion recovery, I've been working with a concussion therapist to employ the practices of slowly getting back into activities without provoking symptoms. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much progress and may even have my symptoms come on earlier. I believe that this is related to sleep and neck issues that began about 18-20 days into the recovery.

Avatar m tn I sustained a minor concussion three weeks ago, and though my logical and linguistic faculties seemed to return to normal within a couple days, I have had persistent feelings of pressure and weakness in my head, though these have markedly diminished within the past week. At present, I have recovered enough that I am able to use the computer (with the monitor at low brightness) for simple tasks like reading and writing emails.
251315 tn?1198196557 Most people with PCS seem to make a recovery within 6 months, usually in less time - a few weeks. Sometimes patients see very little improvement, and then the symptoms quickly go away, so don't give up! In a small number of cases, the symptoms may persist. But even these patients are able to find good coping strategies that allow them to get back "into life" in most cases.
Avatar f tn I had a concussion a little over 2 weeks ago, and I had the typical signs afterwards..headache, nausea, tiredness, etc. I thought I was feeling a little bit better but then it just got worse and worse. Now I can't concentrate or focus (I'm a college student and 50 minute lectures were no problem for me, but now after 10 minutes my mind is gone..and that's extremely problematic).
492869 tn?1285018933 Though my seizure disorder is now well controlled by Zonegran, the drug itself causes mental fatigue. Approximately two weeks ago, I had another concussion. My mother returned home from work only to find me unconscious in the stairwell, and called Emergency. I am now recovering from a post-concussive head injury. I just wanted for everyone to know that I have a great love for this community, and each of our members. I apologize for my intermittent presence in the community.
1602878 tn?1304336016 As for the concussion, he said that it usually takes 4-6 weeks to begin healing and up to 2 years for recovery. He said most people are recovered after fully resting for a few days, some take a few weeks, some can take longer - especially if they have other conditions. So he said some of my symptoms may still be due to the concussion combined with the Chiari. Good luck! Sorry that I don't have more information to help you.
Avatar n tn sounds like you need to go to the dr. asap. you may have a concussion as well as other problems. an mri at the very least should give you more information. good luck and i hope you will keep us posted!
Avatar f tn It sounds like you suffered a concussion. I would not run to the hospital right away since it has been a few days but I would go see your family doctor just to get checked out. I know the balls you are talking about and I would not like to get hit in the head by one. In the meantime lay low and do not do anything strenuous, use in ice pack and some type of pain reliever for your head. You could feel this way for awhile so since you did hurt your head.
Avatar m tn i had CT/MRI scan and both are negative. from past 2 weeks I am not getting sleep in the nights . feels me very depress and stress and anxiety. i went to see doctor and gave me sleeping pills and didnot not help. then went to emergency and they gave another sleeping pill which works first day ( might be i did not sleep before 10 days). from next day again same issue not getting sleep even taking sleeping pills. neck pain and ear weird feeling and light headache/drowsiness.
Avatar m tn Yes, a TBI can cause loss of taste and smell. This can be a part of concussion. If this is so, there is a chance of recovery once the effects of concussion wear off, which may take a few years at times. Also the loss of smell could be due to injury to the nose causing a blockage inside the nose. Hence an ENT consultation is a must to rule this out. The other possibility is injury to nerves or the center in the brain. Generally the taste goes away because of loss of smell.
Avatar f tn I fell off a horse of mine that also fell jumping and landed on my head (had a helmet on). I had a concussion for 2 days and do not remember the accident or couple of weeks that followed. My walking was with a walker as my balance was off. My right eye the opthamologist says had damaged 3rd optical nerve and also muscles, and they say 6 - 8 mo then we will see if they will heal or need surgery....
Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar n tn Anyway this happened on Feb 18th and the recovery has been very slow. Her doc put her on amitriptline and it seamed to take away the headaches. She finally went 15 days symptom free just to have a very big headache causing her to have an eye twitch on 3/18. She said the pain was an 8 on a scale from 1 - 10 and it was at the temple. The headache eventually went away but the twitch is still there. She had a CT scan on the 6th and it came out normal.
Avatar f tn Clinton sustained the concussion from fainting earlier in December. She had been sick for several days with the flu and had canceled a trip to Morocco where she was to officially recognize the Syrian rebels. Brain injury doctors told NBC News said that although details haven't been made public, initial reports indicate that Clinton may have developed a blood clot in her lower limbs as a result of prolonged rest and inactivity after her recent concussion.
Avatar f tn I have severe swelling, got an internal stitch and three external -- but the doctor (who I was later informed was extremely rude) said I didnt have a concussion because I was awake, even though I have absolutely no recollection of any of the events. I couldn't walk, started throwing up, and when we left he said I should probably just go take some ibuprofen and have another drink to ease the pain.
Avatar f tn Had a concussion several weeks ago with instant headache & nausea which have gotten worse. Already had 2 CT scans without contrast, showing they were normal. The headaches and nausea are pretty bad daily, have gotten worse since the concussion. I'm now scheduled for an MRI scan, should I do it with or without contrast. Have read so many negative things about getting it with the contrast.
