concussion

Avatar f tn I would have to agree with that theory. A seizure happens because your brain "miss fires" for some reason or another.
Avatar n tn Plus how does he know he had several other strokes and who diagnosed them? having so many, you would need a miracle to survive.
Avatar m tn Hi. Sorry you are banging your head! Our head can take a lot of blows. Keep that in mind. We have a skull for protection. ER's are good for acute situations. I'm glad you got checked out. They did not see any acute signs of a brain injury. They are trained to do tests to determine this. I have kids in sports. Since you've had a concussion before, you know that a doctor does those to determine brain injury.
Avatar f tn t need to worry about that. What you do need to do is taking all possible precautions against having another concussion, ever, because it sounds like the one you just had was pretty severe. If you are playing contact sports, or if you have dangerous hobbies, it might be time to reconsider that. But you can have all the sex you want. Even if an orgasm immediately after a concussion is inadvisable (and it probably is), two weeks is long enough to wait. You can stop feeling guilty.
Avatar m tn Are you in the care of a GREAT neurologist, preferably someone who has a lot of experience with concussions? It's helpful to have a professional monitor your symptoms.
Avatar f tn Remember its been a week so sounds like you need this checked out, and if it gets (worse) before you can see the PC. Dr. a trip to the ER. would be a good back up plan Best of health to you.
Avatar m tn To cut to the chase, just because you or your child has a concussion does not mean you are going to die. There are always exceptions, but usually a mild concussion will resolve by itself with no long lasting effects.
Avatar n tn https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/post-concussion-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20353352 Make sure to tell the doctor about all of the workouts you're doing, to make sure you're not perpetuating the problem by doing a specific exercise. Hope you start to improve!
Avatar f tn I meant to say, "what kind of shape the valve is in" -- you know, meaning how much of the valve is left to be repaired. No way to edit comments, once they are posted.
Avatar m tn My condition limits my ability to perform in sports and my day to day life. Before I saw a chiropracter who said that the bone in the back of my head, the altlas, was six degrees off after taking x-rays. He adjusted it and instantly my headaches would go away but then I'd wake up in the middle of the night instantly thrown into a migraine. After a month and a half of these adjustments 3 times a week, we gave up on it and I stuck to medication and physical therapy.
Avatar n tn If I were you I'd have to say goodbye to sports, although I know how hard it may be. You have to start thinking about your life after high school. One day you will hopefully have a family and you will want to grow old with them and remember who they are. I've personally received multiple concussions. 4 from football (not including times when I got dazed and kept playing), and another two serious ones outside of football. As of now I'm 20 years old.
Avatar f tn Ouch! Did they get a goose egg from that? Broken skin? I think you 'could' take her to the doctor as concussions happen. I know that my kids in sports have each Fall a baseline concussion test. This then can be checked for the full year if there is any sort of injury to see if it is a concussion. Otherwise, you have to look for symptoms. This article you can copy and paste has a lot of info related to concussions.
Avatar m tn What if you had a concussion? What if eating doesn't help?Is it different if you can't barley speak and move?
Avatar f tn I am curious to learn more about post concussion syndrome. In the past 4-5 years I have had 4 or 5 "mild" concussions and am starting to get worried. I received all of these from sports and have since pulled myself from such dangerous situations but I fear I am still dealing with the after effects of my reckless youth. After my last concussion I had extremely bad vertigo, memory loss, and headaches.
Avatar f tn Sorry this is happing to you but you need to look after your health, this could come back and bite you in later life if you dont look after yourself now. I know it is difficult to step back from doing something you love. Give your body a chance to recover and see how things are in a few months.....
Avatar n tn sorry to hear about the remaining issues.....what was he doing that he was injured?...sports...?I know u said he had CT scans...may I ask y not an MRI?.....and do u have a copy of the report? Since it was 2 wks ago the last time...it is possible that he has swelling and it is not completely healed? Hopefully he did not suffer a condition from the repeat injuries.Head injuries r nothing to let slide...please call his dr and ask him the same questions ur asked here. I pray he recovers soon!
Avatar m tn The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
Avatar m tn I understand she loves to do those things, but I look to the Pro football players with concussion syndrome and think is it worth it? They didn't even have chiari....this is JMHO from what I have learned, and experiecned having chiari. I would take copies of her MRI and the reports and get a 2nd opinion from a true chiari specialist.
Avatar m tn 10 days ago I suffered a concussion due to a fall after fainting. We don't know how long I was unconscious (I was alone), but it was no more than 10-15 minutes. I was unable to remember anything regarding the actual injury (i.e. where I hit the back of my head) or my trip to the hospital and the ER until about an hour before I was discharged. I 'lost" about 3 hours in total.
Avatar n tn But yours started after a fall and a doctor saying you had a concussion. You need to advocate for yourself in a stronger way and eliminate any physiological explanation before attributing this to anxiety. Concussions are nothing to fool around with; I mean, it's not the worst thing in the world, but the problems do last a while. Get a better doctor if this one doesn't give you what you feel you need to solve this puzzle.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Usually, such headaches and dizziness may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. In addition, patient may experience either migraine type or tension type headache. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain abnormalities after that injury.
163305 tn?1333668571 com/categories/hbot-concussion The concept is the use of a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to treat concussion/sports injuries, which would be the same concept of using an oxygen chamber to treat fibromyalgia pain. There's a little boy who was injured in Hurricane Sandy in 2012, when a tree fell through the roof of their home, onto his head. His parents were experimenting with an oxygen chamber.
