Avatar m tn A sever head blow is likely to cause headaches. If you develop nausea, vomiting, excess sleep, severe headache, difficulty in walking and balance, tremors, seizures, vision problems, ringing in ears etc then consult a doctor immediately. These symptoms develop if there is a brain injury or bleed. Otherwise this pressure will go in a few days. However, it is important to get a medical evaluation. So please consult your doctor once. Take care!

Avatar n tn I fell and hit my left shoulder and back on a stair railing last week. It irritated nerves on my left and right sides. I don't remember hitting my head, but I've had a headache pretty much constantly since. Headache is mostly right side on front of head. I've also been feeling spacy, dizzy, and nauseous since. I don't have any bruise like pain at the back of my head. It might be a sinus infection, but it all started the day after I hit my shoulder, so I'm not sure?

Avatar f tn 2 years ago, I had a coup-concoup concussion (I think that was how to spell it). Ever since then, I've had a never ending headache. It's even in my dreams. I also get migraines where my brain smacked the other side of my skull. Then last Christmas, I hit my head on my temple and got a minor concussion then. But there didn't seem to be any lasting remarks from that. Anyways, yesterday I plopped down on my bed and hit the back of my head on my windowsill.
Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion on Jan. 3rd and had just a bad headache,a little dizziness and a lump on the back of my head. Then a few days to a week the dizziness got alot worse, i became unsteady on my feet, developed ringing in my ears, nausea and the headache got worse. I've had an MRI and CT Scan and both were fine. Now I'm having a little problem with remembering names and other little things, plus I've noticed that loud noises and bright lights seem to bother me too.

Please advise!
Avatar m tn To whom it may concern, I am currently living in Antwerp and, three nights ago, while having fun with my friends, I got very drunk, lost balance and banged my head against a wall. I didn't lose conscienciousness, although my memories of the event are blurry, probably more due to alcohol, although it could have been a mixture of both. The next morning I woke up with an awful hangover and just stayed resting at home.
Avatar n tn They now say that the person can sleep after a concussion. The reasons for not letting them sleep before was incase the person slips into a coma - when they are awake at least they can monitor the person. Try making a deal with him - if he gets checked out by a doctor - you will let him sleep.

Avatar f tn After getting hit on the head, you can certainly have a concussion. There are multiple grading scales for concussion. The American Academy of Neurology scale is graded on a scale of 1 to 3, where grade 3 has any loss of consciousness. Grade 2 is with any symptoms lasting more than 15 minutes. If there is any loss of consciousness or alteration in mentation or neurological deficit, labeling the injury as traumatic brain injury would also be appropriate.
Avatar f tn I explained the numbness in my feet and headache and exhaustion and was diagnosed with a concussion. Since going home from the er my symptoms are not improving. I sleep all the time and my headache is getting worse and not responding to meds. My vision keeps getting blurry even going completely black and my feet still have numbness that isn't going away. I'm very dizzy and feel flushed. Upon looking into the mirror I noticed I'm extremely pale.
Avatar m tn There are no randomized studies on sleep disturbance in brain injury patients. The sleep disturbance may last a few days to a few weeks/months. If it does persist, I would advise getting a sleep study evaluation to ensure he has not developed sleep apnea. It is also important to recognize that post-concussive symptoms may also include headache, dizziness, memory challenges, difficulties with concentration, fatigue, depression, anxiety, and increased or decrease in sleep.

Avatar m tn and small cut where I hit it. I got a headache and then very nauseated about 20 minutes later. The next day at work I was almost finished with my shift and all the sudden I got so dizzy I couldn't walk out of work without holding on to the wall. He did a neuro exam and during this exam he made me walk across the room.
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion 4 months ago when I fell during a parade with my high school band. My mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had a CT scan and nothing was out of the ordinary, and it seemed to just be a mild concussion. 4 months later, I'm still having issues. I'm a junior in high school and concentration and memory issues made me switch out of all of my honors classes into regular ones and drop both math and science completely.

Avatar m tn Alright so let me start off by saying i know how ridiculous this sounds but I need to be sure. Im 18.Today was a normal morning, I went to the my couch and kinda jumped down into it. I landed on my butt with my body toward the tv. when i landed though i felt a sort of "thump" on the top of my head when i landed almost as if my brain hit the top of my skull. I wouldn't say I have a headache like getting your bell rung, but lets just say i felt a lot better before I sat down.
Avatar n tn I do not have any sort of cognitive issues though. Could this be a concussion? I do get migraines, and this headache does feel a bit like a migraine, but I am worried because I did hit my head. Should I be concerned? I do not feel awful right now, other than the headache. Thanks!
