Common Questions and Answers about Concussion football helmets

concussion

Avatar n tn Hi, I am an 18 year old male who is still suffering from the effects of multiple concussions in high school. I had one my junior year, which was not too serious, and the effects of it soon cleared up. However, the next year, I received a violent blow to the head (football again) in which my mouthpiece wasn't in correctly. I was wearing a revolution helmet, the supposedly concussion proof helmets, which cracked all the way down the side from where I got hit.
Avatar n tn I am 18 years old and last fall during Rugby season I had a concussion. I was out of conscious for around 4 minutes. And now yesterday I was snowboarding and fell multiple times on my head while not wearing a helmet. My head imideatly felt pain in the same spot of where I felt the pain during my concussion in rugby. Im not sure if I lost consciousness or not during one of the falls. And now I am starting the wrestling season I dont know if i should take this season off or not?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for the input at least it gives me another way to go no the doctors never mentioned the post concussion syndrome but I'll check into it however its not just high school football to him its his college choice on the line unfortunatly but his health is more important to me we will see what I can figure out thanks again.
Avatar m tn I'm 16 years old after my football concussion my eyes have gotten farther apart now I can't even look my friends in the eyes . Do eye doctors do surgery for this or medicine . What should I do ?
Avatar f tn Ok so I have had close to the whole chart in symptoms of a concussion 7 months post impact. I was recovering at a fairly normal pace until about 3/4 weeks into recovery when pain worse than when I had the initial headache from trauma. Keep in mind at that point I was a healthy 15 year old boy that was extremely active. Well anyway the pain that had returned from nowhere was increasing gradually for about one and a half months until the pain was so intense I had to go to the ER at 1am.
Avatar m tn I've just recently been told i have an arrhythmia.I was told when i was getting height and weight at school and pulse and that sort of thing for football. I have had no clue I've had it. I also had a tommy john reconstruction of my left elbows UCL... THIS YEAR! I want to know if its normal. Its just like 1 2 3 pause, 1 2 3 pause in my heart beat. Our Medical class teacher is also a certified emt and still works and listened to my heart and said that is was a arrhythmia.
Avatar m tn t remember the medical term for it) were athletes who took many shots to the head over many years and played while they had the concussion/still had concussion symptoms. AND before we knew about the seriousness of injuries to the brain. There is a reason why in sports today that people need to pass concussion protocol tests before they are allowed to return to activity. I suppose I'm trying to relate this to sports as you talked about boxing.
Avatar f tn Guess what guys.! I got a concussion. ): Done with football for the season and sports for the whole YEAR!!! Hopefully we can let me do discus at the end of the year...NOT A CONTACT SPORT....They are talking about taking me out of football for good. Which I understand...but I got the concussion off of punting which I NEVER do except for tht one time.
Avatar f tn t due to the concussion but something found because of the concussion causing you to get diagnostic testing done. But I would get a 2d opinion unless the near-surgeon and the testing saw something urgent. A lot can be wrong without symptoms.

Avatar f tn Thank you so much. I will be sure to not share any of my baby's things with them then.
Avatar m tn My NS said that anything that can cause direct impact to the top of your head is forever a no during my post op discussion. If I am correct rugby is like football and they don't wear helmets. Do please check with your NS and be careful.
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion 4 months ago when I fell during a parade with my high school band. My mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had a CT scan and nothing was out of the ordinary, and it seemed to just be a mild concussion. 4 months later, I'm still having issues. I'm a junior in high school and concentration and memory issues made me switch out of all of my honors classes into regular ones and drop both math and science completely.
Avatar m tn now i have been diagnosed with post concussion syndrome.is it possible for this to happen and how long will it last.
Avatar f tn He played high school and college football and substained a concussion playing football while in 10th grade. He also broke his ankle playing college footbal which resulted in surgery and a metal plate was fused to his bones to repair his broken ankle. ER doctors think he had a seizure @ the wheel of the car. I am totally uninformed, am not a doctor and don't think he has eplipesy or seizures. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar f tn should he be playing football? This discussion is related to Abnormal Brain Activity -- Seizures or ADHD.

Avatar n tn my boyfriend suffered multiple concussions and post concussion before he suffered a couple within the last month. my main concern is his extreme borderline personality symptoms thathe now has. he is still healing from the injuries so understandably his symptoms are more serious but my main concern is if it may not subside overtime but if it will, how long will it take cause it is alot for me to handle. are there any treatments for him to take.
Avatar m tn I am a 19 year old male who has suffered 8 concussions from football and various other sports. These are only the ones that have been diagnosed and are all from within a 5 year span. I have seen a neurologist as well as having 2 MRI's and a CT scan but all the results said everything was functioning fine and would just take time.
Avatar m tn He got a mild concussion in football and was out of the game for 2 weeks (this really made him nervous as his cousin had a severe concussion with lasting brain damage), soon after he healed from the concussion he got swine flu and was out of school the better part of two weeks, shortly after a return to health he got Mono and strep throat (he wasn't fatigued, but had a severe sore throat, pains, and difficulty swallowing). Now he gets scared at school.
271792 tn?1334979657 It was nice of you to give them your undies since they took off their football gear. They no longer hit hard enough to need helmets or pads. I can only think of one type of pad they need.
Avatar n tn Because I read the sports pages a lot, it sounds like concussion syndrome to me. Football players get it a lot. So while it could be anxiety attacks, you did suffer a concussion. Are you seeing a specialist for that?
Avatar n tn t ask about his demeanor during the day, but I just talked to my daughter and they had gone to a sports bar to watch a football game but had to leave early because my grandson became nauseous again. I want her to call her doctor or go to the ER but she doesn't think it's necessary. What do you think?
