He has also been put on intuniv which caused a few really bad side effects and Strattera which didn't do anything at all for him. I have researched ADHD signs and symptoms and I do not believe he has this condition. I've voiced my concern to the pediatrician but he doesn't seem like he wants to listen to me. Headache on left front side with a crazy visual aura, took zomig, hour later took ibuprofen 600, albuterol sulfate and Ritalin. Vision is unnaturally blurry. Chest and stomach symptoms worsen when laying down, head symptoms worsen when standing up.

Do not use Concerta if you have used an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), tranylcypromine (Parnate), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), or selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam) within the past 14 days. Serious, life-threatening side effects can occur if you use Concerta before the MAO inhibitor has cleared from your body.
These are typical side effects froom withdrawls of that type of medication (amphetamine, methylphetamine) or stimulants. If a patient is used to being on a stimulant drug for some time, withdrawing that drug would cause a general slowing down of the body, hence the extreme fatigue, lack of motivation and focus. Your body is going through an increased response of side effects from withdrawl, as you've been of this medication for a year which is why your symptoms may be more exaggerated.
My daughter is nearly 11 years old and has been taking Concerta (now on 36mg) since March. The doctor recommended a switch to Strattera for the reason that it works 24 hours (Concerta is effective for only 12 hours) and will help my daughter concentrate more. I have no idea whether Strattera is a better alternative, can anyone tell me if this is true?
His teacher and myself (my son too) have noticed a postitive change in his work output at school and during homework sessions. Two of the side effects are of great concern to me. My son can't sleep until well after 10:30 pm. (we are trying Melatonin, but haven't found the right dosage). The other side effect that is most troubling is the loss of appetite. When we went to see his specialist, 6 days ago, he'd lost 4.5 lbs (in 40 days).

My sister abuses her concerta (she knows the risks) she will stay up until around 5am and sleep for an hour or two. Her doctor is giving her 400mg of seroquil to help her to sleep. Will that get her to bed?
