690060 tn?1247841741 I tried to copy and paste the second article you referred ot "Cardiologists shocked by a new FDA alert on clopidogral-ppi interaction," but was unable to access it. Could you tell us what it says? (Thanks.
Avatar m tn New data show that when clopidogrel and omeprazole are taken together, the effectiveness of clopidogrel is reduced. Patients at risk for heart attacks or strokes who use clopidogrel to prevent blood clots will not get the full effect of this medicine if they are also taking omeprazole.
Avatar f tn ve eight stents and always was given a handful of Clopidogrel (Plavix) during the prep time before the surgery, and a couple of aspirins. They want the blood as thin as possible during the procedure to reduce the risk of stroke or arterial obstructions, obviously. I'd not be concerned and take the medication as asked. Best wishes with the procedure, keep us informed.
Avatar f tn In July of 2010 I had a heart attack and had a stent done....after the surgery I came home hurting and by the next morning I was hurting so badly that I called my Cardiologist and was flown back to the hospital where I was told my stent had collapsed and he reopened that one and put in another. Over the next 8 months I had 4 more stents put in. I was put on beta blockers, crestor, isosorbide....many different drugs and gained 20 lbs. I have had pain ever since.
Avatar m tn Recently I had a severe pain in my rigt and middle of my chest on 4th Dec 2010 while i was playingTT and got urgent medication immediately and diagnosed asAcute Myocardial Infraction. Later on 7th Angio was done and found that Mid LAD has 50% lesion in 20 to 25 mm length. The lesion morphology was type B2 with moderate thrombus in it. Doctors advised Medical Treatment and prescribed blood thinners (Asprin and Clopidogrel) and also advised CBC platelets in every 3 months.
Avatar f tn I am a 55 years old female and I was jogging regularly. I had my first MI on 07/20/2010. As I was taken to the ER 12 hours after symptoms, infarction of the anterior wall & septum had already evolved. My angio showed double vessel disease - LAD 100% & RCA 70% blockage. I had 2 stents, one for each artery on 07/28/2010. My ejection fraction was 39%. I was confined to my home not getting much sleep. I had a consultation with my cardiologist on 08/20/2010. The ECHO shows “LV dilated.
Avatar m tn I would just keep to the medications prescribed and eat a healthy diet. The Clopidogrel is important for the Stent and the drug coating on the stent will help to inhibit the formation of scar tissue.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking plavix, 81mg aspirin AND coumadin on a daily basis. I had a stent put in in July 2008 and triple by pass in 2006. I'm 64 and had my first MI at 33. My father died of an MI at 46, my EF is under 30%. My EP (at one hospital) just suggested I eliminate the plavix while my CHF specialist (at a nearby major research university) said I would be on plavix for a "long time" (forever?).
Avatar n tn I have been on Coumadin for 18 years due to Lupus Anticoagulant (Antiphospholipid Syndrome) and several DVTs. In 2005 had MI with occlusion of the LAD artery and had drug stent inserted and I am still on plavix. My doc has debated when to take me off the Plavix safely....what are the recent studies about this dilemma? thanks so much!

1391312 tn?1421086993 Well the DR put me on Dexilant a newer PPI and Zantac 150mg 2 X a day.....He said it was really bad in there, he thinks it's due to this stress over the HCV & other family issues. I asked him about the Riba and Reflux he said I would not know if that would be a problem for me unless I started on it.---Same answer for Riba-Rage.--It's like a dog chasing it's tail, talking to him. I see another Dr. on Thursday, that question will be on the list.
Avatar m tn Which is better anticoagulnt from rivaroxaban and clopidogrel for stroke prevention. My grandmother had stroke 6 years ago and she has atrial fibrilation. So far she used clopidogrel as treatment but her new doctor perscribed medication with rivaroxaban (but it is far more expensive) ?
Avatar n tn To date there have been no reports of an important interaction in humans between warfarin and clopidogrel. Nonetheless, because warfarin increases the risk of bleeding, blood tests to measure the degree to which the blood is anti-coagulated or thinned (prothrombin time; INR) may be ordered to assess the degree of blood-thinning when warfarin and clopidogrel are used together.
Avatar n tn s heart valve and a pacemaker and they were taking the medication clopidogrel for 7 years and then stopped taking it for a few months, could there be any ramifications?
Avatar m tn I even tried Prilosec a few times and it also worked for me. As long as i took 40mg PPI daily i could function. With PPI i can eat anything. My diet is very strict and i never touch street food, fast food, fatty, fried, spicy, carbonated drinks, no alcohol or cigarettes ever. Around November 2009 i completely eliminated from my diet bleached flour, high fructose corn syrup, fructose corn syrup, corn syrup. Eat mostly organic. Drink only water or pure organic carrot juice.
Avatar f tn i am 38 years old now , i developed gerd in my twenties i have been on ppi for like 10 years and they completely controlled my symptoms all this period i was on pantoprazole 40 mg daily and every time i try to dc for a month or two the gerd settles in and heart burn starts in episodes about 2-4 times daily so i eventually returned to ppi , every while i try to lower the dose to 20 mg for a period till i get the feeling of a slight discomfort so i return to the 40 mg dose again i tried h2
Avatar n tn Well before any decision is made for something like Warfarin, you should have your INR (clotting factor) tested. An INR of 1 is how long normal blood takes to clot. An INR of 2 means it take twice as long and so it goes on. Aspirin and Clopidogrel (plavix) I believe attack the clotting mechanisms in different ways. Personally I don't think they know the long term outcomes.
Avatar m tn Any blockage is bad but when you have blockages everywhere! ?! Wow!
Avatar f tn It was only a days ailment and went away but now since yesterday I notice after I wake up and drink water with my pills I get this sensation that there is something in my throat and like I have trapped gas and I need to burp so I drink water and indeed I burp. My observations are ok but i can be bought round with oxygen too. Has anyone had this? Ive seen one instance but in canada where its been reported. My seizures increased so they have upped clobazam to 3pmg a day Im just worried as live on my own.
Avatar m tn My problemis that her gastro dr wants to get her off her meds by Febuary of 2010 and all attemps this far have failed(symtoms returning with a vigor) He has sugested to do Nissen Fundoplication to inhibit her ability to throw up, but studies have shown that this proceedure can inhibit motility of the stomach. I am very confused and have not been able to find another DR for a second opinion. Any suggestion welcome- a;ternate treatments?????
