Avatar f tn How long do I need to wait from last time I got high til I start taking clonidine 1mg.
Avatar f tn Hi! Glad you bumped, vicki! Ok.....I would NOT start any other opiate now. It will not be a lot of help anyway. The AD properties are as hard to detox from as the opiate part. It is just a double whammy! Call your doc. If you are going to ask for anything, ask for some clonidine. That would help way more than vicodin. PLUS....it's not addictive like vicodin! It's a bad, bad, bad idea all the way around!
Avatar f tn HI... I am new to this site and am on my third day of weaning off of vicodin, hycodan...the works. :) i am doing pretty well so far...except for the guilt to the people i have effected and the fiance i will be affecting as he goes through this with me. My first question is has the weaning off of drugs been effective for people? i am nervous as i have tried ct at least 7 times. second, my doctor prescribed two clonidine patches for me for any withdrawl symptoms. What do these do ?
Avatar f tn Go to your doctor and see if you can get a prescription for a drug called Clonidine. Clonidine was originally developed for high blood pressure and they found it had an odd side effect. It helps people with withdrawals from alcohol and opiates. I've tried to quit 3 times prior to this and really I was only serious about 1 of them. Clonidine will cut withdrawals noticeably. It's different for every person of course. Drugs usually don't work for me favorably....
Avatar f tn Today, I was curious about how long does it take to detox and didnt see any comments about Clonidine. If anyone can get your hands on it, it is a life-saver during the withdrawal period. Last time I only took it a few days. a week tops. I would pop one every now and then if I felt jittery. It is not a controlled substance and there is NO risk for addicton to this medication (Clonidine). I am suprised it is not more widely discussed or known about.
Avatar f tn Well, you can surely go on the Vicodin if you want to but you chance prolonging the withdrawal. The process is never pleasant but it is a matter of rip the band aid off fast or slow. I prefer quick and would just get it over with. We all want to lessen the withdrawal and we all look for a pill or any other way to do that. Many of us how found ourselves stuck on the pill that got us off the first drug and after a while the detox gets harder and longer.
Avatar n tn s things to take that are not addictive that can help with withdrawal symptoms such as clonidine (Catapres) and hydroxyzine (Vistaril, Atarax). Please, steer clear of the Ultram.
Avatar n tn Does clonidine help with the pain of opiate withdrawal? How does it help, what w/d symptoms does it alleviate, and are there bad side effects or withdrawal symptoms from the clonidine itself if taken for 5 days or so? Has anyone tried it?
3160774 tn?1343705010 I have Clonidine for withdrawals how can it help. I am scared to death. Have never been in withdrawal from Opiates. I was told 36 hours prior but am so afraid of precipitated withdrawals. Has anyone been here that can give me some advice?
349859 tn?1257790973 Does clonidine really help with easing some of the yucky wd feelings??
Avatar f tn Tues will take lase clonidine pill then that eve switch to clonidine patch. Next day stop all methadone. Dr said she will call me everyday will increase clonidine patch continue to use Valium for anxiety and tramadol if needed. I am pretty nervous cause I am doing this alone at home what do you think?
Avatar f tn As I go down will vicodin help offset withdrawals? I have detoxed from vicodin a couple times and have clonidine as well as trazadone to help. I need a plan please!
590280 tn?1310087366 also if your eally want tog et off with trying youre way with darvocet, definitely tellt he doctor that you need clonidine. it is by far the best tool in opiate withdrawal medication. it helps with the sweats, chills, blood predssure spikes, the insomnia, and some oft he muscle carmps and fatigue. its it def. in home detox methods.
Avatar f tn We have seen a tremendous raise in the amount of patients coming in for rapid detox from Suboxone ,because the withdrawal can last weeks and is so hard. Hydrocodone seems to be easier and faster to stop.
Avatar n tn I have been prescribed Vicodin 10mg. and taking 3-4 daily for the past 5 years. I desperately want to get off and am open to entering a rehab center, but currently have no insurance. Is there any facilites out there that I can go to without having insurance? I have tried to ween off and can deal with the dysenteria, ringing in my ears, flu-like symptoms, but I can not deal with my leggs wanting to run with me and that overwhelming anxious feeling.
1687072 tn?1307043528 I have just fought so hard for 30 days to get to this point, and just want a second opinion. What are the differences between methadone w/d and vicodin w/d? How would vicodin be more "appropriate" to taper off of than methadone?
1446539 tn?1284552849 As of August 2010 it has been a year since I have been trying to quit taking Vicodin, Percocet, or whichever I can get my hands on fast & cheap. Percocet is my choice for best relief, but it all started with Vicodin about 5 years ago. I will save the great details for the forums. All I wanted to ask was if you guys think I need another solution for becoming clean & human again. It seems in the last year, each time I try to quit I only get deeper into it.
Avatar m tn I was just prescribed clonidine and phenobarbital yesterday for my vicodin withdrawals, (anxiety) and it really has helped. Go talk to your Dr. don't be embarrassed. I doubt that taking it twice will reverse all you have done. But don't do it anymore or you will be right back where you started and have to do it all over again, be strong!!!!
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar f tn that I had read that clonidine helps those that decide to stop taking opioids for pain with the physical withdrawal symptoms, and he agreed and prescribed it. You will take it up to three times a day, for the first week or two. Then go to once per day for a week and then stop. It will help you! You'll be able to sleep, too, with it.
Avatar n tn I've been on Vicodin for about two years now on and off. I take about 4 pills a day do you think the Thomas recipe is safe for withdrawels?
Avatar f tn I have been on Vicodin for spine probs for a year and also Tramadol. I finally got so sick of the vicodin rollercoaster I flushed them three weeks ago. Now I'm only on Tramadol and daily Ativan. Tomorrow I will run out of Tramadol. I read online that although it is considered non-narcotic that you can still have severe withdrawls. I did black out and got a concussion 2 weeks ago unsure if it was a seizure due to the tramadol as I was alone. Its scary stuff.
Avatar m tn I started taking them the day after I took my last vicodin (120+ days ago) and never took another vicodin. Clonidine helps immensely with a number of the symptoms. However, they will make your mouth dry and could make you very lethargic and tired. after a few weeks, I weened off as per my doctor's instructions. Please note the dosage is ".1 (POINT 1) mg" Jim I highly recommend you consult with your doctor before taking clonidine.
