Avatar f tn Hi, if i remember the name right clonidine was the med that nearly gave me a heart attack during baseball tryouts. No, it did not work. Read my post at the top or the forums page. I highly recommend ORAP. call me if you have any questions 707-386-7055 my name is trevor.
656243 tn?1231288052 It all makes sense but I think one thing we should be careful of here is when we use the term "doctor". Some people feel more comfortable referring to a psychiatrist as a doctor and a psychiatrist is of course a medical professional but some people don't have good health insurance and a standard physician prescribes their psychiatric medications which is not advisable.
880900 tn?1467270141 I’m pretty sure clondine is a high blood pressure medication to reduce hypertension. It sounds like some side effects of taking clonidine may be helpful with w/d's. I haven’t tried it for that, yet, however, I took it once to reduce my BP and I accidentally took too much and I was literally walking sideways, my BP got dangerously low....(if that happens, drink lots of H2o), so, IMO, I would be very careful with it and take a very low dose. It’s nothing to mess around with….
Avatar f tn As always, I recommend that parents have a close working relationship with the prescribing physician and understand exactly what the medication is, what it is intended to affect, what the side effects are, how direct and side effects will be monitored, and how decisions about dose increases and decreases will be made.
Avatar f tn ADHD medicine can be a game changer in terms of managing symptoms, but it, like all medications, has negative effects. Common side effects include decreased appetite, difficulty sleeping, and irritability, particularly at high doses. Some children may also have stomach problems or headaches. It's critical to have open lines of contact with your doctor so that they can change the dosage or try another drug if necessary.
Avatar f tn I am reluctant to dd in any other pills, but I need some relief. Any experience with this drug? Side effects? Does it actually do anything? Thanks.
343006 tn?1314446471 but mostly feel dumpy and tired and I get sick feeling - iv been on verapamil for 6years now - and I can no longer take the sr or slow release extended release pills -as they no longer seem to work .. and side effects happen more so than before. but the normal 80mg verapamil pills work fine ? other than my ankles swell up and foot tops.. from it. 662085 tn?1331345560 I hope some one will answer your query about the side effects of clonidine. I dis not find any side effect relating to sexual problems with clonidine in the webpage. You may research further or alk the doctor who has prescribed it.
Avatar f tn I am on Clonidine which is used experimentally for bipolar and though it has a fair amount of side effects it does work. And there are more options as well. I post about the ones I know about. You need a concrete diagnosis as to what mood disorder you have and from there if you've tried known medications and need to try lesser known (but FDA approved for other purposes) mood stabilizers, I'd suggest your psychiatrist refer you to a mood disorders specialist.
198154 tn?1337787265 PLZ take meds precribed by your doctor ,if you have any negative side effects LET HIM KNOW RIGHT AWAY. I have heard of some people who had lower blood pressure having black outs from colidine . Very scary ...... that is why I did not use it my blood pressure is low most of the time.
Avatar m tn Since then we found out that Risperidone is know for side effects such as tardive dyskinesia. We are seriously concerned now. Will this be permanent ? What is the best way to examine this problem ? Thanks for any suggestions !
Avatar n tn It does have other uses for helping with opiate withdrawals, I also have hypertension and use clonidine after I had tried other meds that didnt help my BP. I was previously on clonidine about 3yrs ago for over a year and didnt have any side effects when I switched over to lisinopril, but after it and others didnt work I was back on clonidine.
Avatar n tn I recently had open heart surgery, 4 bypasses. I was on Benicar 20mg. a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP.
Avatar f tn s weird, because even though they said dizziness is a side effect of the medication, I never had it until I started tapering off it. My heart just races too. I have to get off this medication, but I am scared. After several surgeries that did not accomplish what the doctors had hoped, I am afraid to face that pain. However, I know I cannot go on like this with the narcotics, either. I worry about being able to physically go to work.
Avatar n tn Since your panic attacks are happening less, are the headaches numerous and a reason that you cannot take the medication anymore? Or are some of the side effects okay with you now that your anxiety is much better? What does your prescribing doctor say about this? Headaches can also be caused by an endless number of factors in my opinon. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you still under a lot of stress? The point is, that the headaches may not even be related to the medication itself.
Avatar m tn Any time we go on a new medication, there is a risk associated of side effects. Have you been on other medications for GAD? Is there a reason he is making a choice of these two meds? Propranlonol is a beta blocker and used for short term things like social anxiety. Like if you have to do a big presentation or speech and are nervous-- people can take this and it gets them through that. This seems like a very odd choice for generalized anxiety disorder.
Avatar f tn I have been taking clonidine for the side effects of the hot flashes, and I must say, it helps quite a bit. It also works like a sleeping pill for quite some time, and that is very short-acting. Clonidine is not the same as Klonipin, and which is a sedative. Clonidine is a high Blood pressure drug but used for a variety of other causes. (I started out with .1 mg and am now taking .2 mg) it;s very cheap also, and I thought just worth mentioning, as I have never heard this mentioned anywhere.
