Avatar m tn I am still having night sweats BADLY. My dr put me on Climara Pro. I am concerned about the stroke and dementia risks that it lists. I have been on it for a week and its helping me, although I am very bloated which does not work well for a recovering eating disorder/alcoholic, (just saying). Is it too dangerous for me because of my blood flow. Will the bloating subside? I have stopped eating mostly again, but I am more worried about the blood?
Avatar f tn Hello! I am new to this site & hope I'm doing this right. I am 44 years old and had a total LAVH (both ovaries removed on 3/22/16. At 20 years old I was given Lupron injections for experimental treatment for the mildest class of endometriosis possible (HORRIBLE advice from my doc back then). Those injections put me into INSTANT menopause and I started experiencing for the first time in my life SEVERE anxiety and depression (along with hot flashes, night sweats, etc.

Avatar f tn I am a 62 year old woman G3P3 . I had a total hysterectomy with BSO. I have been on estrogen replacement since my surgery in 1998. I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age. I switched from oral Premarin which covered me pretty well but I didn't want to be taking pills the rest of my life. Since then I have tried a variety of patches that are really not very effective on a regular basis and very expensive. At my age, what do you recommend.
Avatar m tn Why would one side hurt worse than the other. They also put me on a hormone patch called Climara. Has anyone taken this and is it good.
Avatar n tn The reason you need HRT after a hysterectomy is to avoid long term issues such as osteoporosis (sp), cardiac design, thinning skin, eye degeneration, and brain function declination. There are some that believe that by keeping your hormones balanced you may also avoid certain types of cancer. I recommend visitinga site called hystersisters that has a WHOLE lot of info on HRT. The fact that he is removing you suddenly instead of gradually is bad practice. I would go to a different Dr.

Avatar n tn Your Dr can and should do blood work, because even though it may seem not your ovaries are still trickling just a bit of estrogen so you need to know your hormone levels ( Dr does) to prescribe correct combination or single hormone, what ever you may need.
Avatar f tn Hi Gayleen, I am going to suggest you consider it is time for a change in the dosage of your patch. I am hoping you are on a Bioidentical patch... all of the info I am about to share is info regarding this type of estrogen patch. I don't know much about the synthetic patches and from what I have read, you will not get the same type of relief since there are "issues" with the synthetics... dose often not high enough...

484508 tn?1290010544 The gels and patches give the closest to normal replacement levels. The patches, however, have a significant incidence of skin reactions. The pills are associated with liver tumors and the shots give extremely high levels of testosterone, much high than is normal. Thus, the gels are your best bet, in my opinion. You'll need your testosterone level repeated on treatment to make sure that you levels on treatment are in the normal range. S.A.Liroff, M.D.

Avatar n tn This is a site regarding sexual and relationship information, so your question may need to be addressed elsewhere. As for patches, the only ones I'm aware of are nicotine patches for people who wish to quit smoking, and hormonal patches for women who don't wish to become pregnant. There may be others; but as stated, this isn't the place to find out that information Dr.
15946915 tn?1444173614 It might be that you need to have your need a little hormone supplementation to get you feeling better. I hope your able to get this handled quickly so your back to feeling like your young self. I wish you the best!
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm 41 and underwent a total hysterectomy 1 month ago. The Dr. started me on the patches right away. I just can't sleep! This is driving me nuts since I'm a teacher and need my rest. I look horrible and feel exhausted. Is that a side effect of the patches? Yesterday I was desperate and removed it to see what happens for a week or so. What can I do? I am desperate and of course do not want to age early nor break a leg if tripping on the street. Help!
Avatar f tn I had three circular patches like this one one my hip on on my back and one on my breast! .. any ideas what it could be????
Avatar f tn The side effects are typically caused by too much or too little of the hormone. Have you consulted an endocrinologist to see how your hormones are as you may need a thyroid increase or other medication and you then may not need depression and anxiety medications. I would read the booklet that comes with the patch or consult a pharmacist about the side effects as eye issues are not common with estrogen. Perhaps you need a smaller patch - you can trim your patch to help - I do that sometimes.
Avatar f tn "Overlapping" may help. When you put on the new patch, leave the old one on for a half or full day before removing. If that doesn't work, you could try switching to the weekly Climara patch and "overlap" it if you still have the migraine trigger. I used the patch for over a year and it didn't work well for me due to the fluctuations and not giving me enough estrogen. But it did not cause migraines but I was never one to suffer with those, thankfully.

Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone has experienced a sudden onset of white patches on skin? My 40 y/o brother has white patches on his neck that apparently came up about 2 weeks ago. He has no other symptoms except extreme fatigue. What could this be and what causes it? Any suggestions would be great.
