Avatar f tn Decreasing excess stomach acid can help the ulcer heal. Amoxicillin and clarithromycin are antibiotics used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections (including H. pylori). Treating the infection helps reduce the risk of the ulcer returning. Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic and clarithromycin is a macrolide-type antibiotic. They work by stopping the growth of bacteria. The antibiotics in this product treat only bacterial infections.

1747349 tn?1332683680 pylori is detected in patients with a peptic ulcer, the normal procedure is to eradicate it and allow the ulcer to heal. The standard first-line therapy is a one week "triple therapy" consisting of proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole, lansoprazole and the antibiotics clarithromycin and amoxicillin.
Avatar f tn Husband had gastroscopy on 23/10/13. Biopsy taken but not got results yet. Gastroscopy showed h pylori gastritis and a presence of excess bile in the stomach. Triple therapy antibiotics prescribed (lansoprazole, amoxi and clarithromycin), he says he feels a lot better, but i'm worried sick.
Avatar f tn Hi, as your symptoms are related to food, it could be due to peptic ulcer disease. The two common causes for this are: infection with helicobacter pylori and use of nonsteroidal anti inflammatory medications (NSAID). Although you are on PPI you need therapy for H pylori. Helicobacter pylori, also known as H. pylori, is a bacterium that is commonly found in the stomach. It is present in approximately one-half of the world's population. The vast majority of people infected with H.
Avatar m tn Clarithromycin isn't the treatment of choice for any STD. However, it would effectively prevent most cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). But not all. Antibiotics, including clarithromycin, have no effect on viruses and therefore cannot prevent herpes, HPV, or HIV.
Avatar f tn After many visist to the doctor, they decided to do an endoscopy, which showed that I have ulcer, GERD LA class A and hiatal hernia on the esophagus and superficial gastritis and ulcers on the stomach. Besided from that, they run the test to see if I had H. Pylori and it was positive.
Avatar f tn So this is day nine on the prilosec and day seven on the antibiotics (Ammoxicillin and clarithromycin)for the H pylori. My symptoms are still there SOMETIMES after eating. For the most part it has been a bland diet, except for the exception of a hamburger yesterday which caused extreme discomfort. Could this be a side effect of the medicine or my stomach trying to heal still? Please let me know if I should tough it out with the antibiotics or could this be something else?
Avatar m tn It was two weeks on omeprazole, clarithromycin and Metronidazol for two weeks. The original pain I was having was heartburn, bloating and a pain on my side just under my rib cage. The antibiotics gave me diarrhea several times each day. I still have the diarrhea, as well as the heartburn and pain on my side. is this pain on my side something else? A hernia? A really bad ulcer? Or is this a sign that the treatment didn't work if I'm experiencing the exact same pains.
Avatar f tn So, had brief encounter with sex worker. I am a male and she a female, just for clarity and accuracy of response though I'm confident that this is irrelevant. In any case, I received oral sex lasting only a couple minutes then shortly after completed with handjob. Anyway, that night I had extreme regrets as this not something I regularly do, only once before. So in my anxious state, I thought it best to be proactive and see if I could prevent any full infection from developing.
Avatar m tn Today, the standard triple therapy is amoxicillin, clarithromycin and a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole. At times, probiotics have been used. A patient with gastritis, or peptic/duodenal ulcers may also have the presence of H-pylori. You can read about it here (copy and paste the URL into your web browser.): http://h-p-bacteria.blogspot.com/ Good luck! And let me know how you are doing!
Avatar n tn s lingering or the nodules. Chest pains too but the doctor thought i had an ulcer and that it might have been referred pain from that. I'm not sure about the size but since they have just appeared in the last month or so I'm assuming they would have to be pretty small. It's all annoying and stressful which is why i avoided going to the doctor until my girlfriend made an appointment for me behind my back and then threatened me if i didn't go.
Avatar f tn As fas as I know, nexium (esomeprazole) only interferes with biaxin (clarithromycin). It heightens the amount of esomeprazole by inhibiting the degradation of esomeprazole. Macrobid is nitrofurantoin, not clarithromycin. You may also look here: http://www.ehealthme.com/drug_interactions_side_effects/Nexium-2792078.
Avatar f tn I took 1500mg of Clarithromycin ER, and 1875mg of Amoxicillin that night. The following morning took another 1gm of the Niacin ER & 1375mg of Amoxicillin.
Avatar n tn erythromycin, minocycline and sulphamethoxazole) has demonstrated poor efficacy and high relapse rates. (Tigecycline is a derivative of Minocycline – see previous) Clarithromycin is active against most strains of M. abscessus, and current expert opinion recommends clarithromycin monotherapy for localised cutaneous disease, and combination therapy including clarithromycin and parenteral agents for treatment of disseminated infection, pulmonary infection or extensive cutaneous disease.
Avatar m tn But here is my question. I ended up with a respiratory infection and the Doc gave me Clarithromycin, I have to take 2X 500mg a day for ten days. I started the medication the day of the sexual encounter. Will Clarithromycin help clear up any of the STD's that I might have caught during the act? There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time. Thanks for your responses!
Avatar f tn Hey reese28 - sorry you're going through so much pain and misery.. I'm not an expert but I've heard H. pylori is a tough bug to kill sometimes (basically an ulcer that's what h pylori is and causes a stomach ulcer.. I bet if you eat something acidic you'd have an angry stomach..or after a heavy meal..) and usually they do a triple antibiotic therapy here in the states (which looks like what you are doing..). You might have had dark tarry stool right?
1138687 tn?1548643978 A different doctor changed my prescription from Doxy to Clarithromycin, as I work outside but told her I am managing the sun well as I cover up thoroughly. Well I am not even working that much during meds as they drag me down so i can certainly get away with Doxy.
Avatar m tn He had some left over clarithromycin 500 mg about 10 days worth and he began taking that. I told him he should just get tested but he dosent have insurance currently and is unemployed. He said even if I have an std clarithromycin should clear it up its a very strong anti-bacterial antibiotic. Is this true?
Avatar m tn prescribed the triple therapy which consists of Lanzoprazole 30 mg, Amoxicillin 500 mg and clarithromycin 500 mg. The problem is that she told me to take only one pill of amoxicillin (500mg) every 12 hours but it was supposed to be two pills (1g) according to FDA and other resources. I am very concerned because I know that this bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. What should I do?, How long do I wait before I take another test to see if the bacteria is gone or not?
Avatar m tn About a month ago I was prescribed a course of Clarithromycin for a skin infection. Since taking the drug I've suffered huge surges of adrenaline, which kicks in like a lighting shot at the point of sleep. It kept me away many nights and I was beside myself with worry. It's now more than three weeks since I stopped the medication (I only completed 2.5 days out of 7) and I find that the adrenaline surges have subsided somewhat.
Avatar f tn Honestly, the most healthy way to eat is in very small amounts as frequently as every 2 hours. But waking up to eat is pretty unhealthy in terms of interfering with rest from sleep. 1234554321's suggestion of an ulcer is possible since many folks with ulcers eat frequently to ease the pain of irritating the ulcer, but you haven't mentioned mid-epigastric pain that is relieved by eating. Hunger that is so frequent can be from anxiety, OCD, and very rarely, insulinoma.
Avatar n tn Hi, I was diagnosed with a sinus infection a few weeks ago and prescribed a z-pack, which I took with no issues. I am still feeling the symptoms in my sinuses so I went to the Dr last week and was prescribed Amoxicillin. About 20 mins after taking it I had this strange sensation on my lip...like a tingling/itching feeling and became itchy all over. I called the Dr and she prescribed Clarithromycin. I didn't want to take it right away, just in case I had a similar reaction.
