My doctor told me about the lingering of metallic medicine taste from the clarithromycin but boy is it awful. I have horrible gag reflexes and the taste is so nasty and gross that it makes me nauseous! I want the infection gone and my attacks to stop but this taste is so awful!!!!
He has prescribed clarithromycin 500mg twice a day. He told me they are only harmful in the first trimester but NHS says that they should only be used as a last resort if there is no other medicine and the pros outweigh the cons. Anyone had this medicine and gone on to have a healthy baby? Thanks in advance.
Clarithromycin isn't the treatment of choice for any STD. However, it would effectively prevent most cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). But not all.
Antibiotics, including clarithromycin, have no effect on viruses and therefore cannot prevent herpes, HPV, or HIV.

ve heard Prevpac (which is a combination of 2 antibiotics amoxicillin and clarithromycin + an antiacid medicine) has some nasty side effects...Has anyone been on it? If so, what was your experience like? She is apprehensive about taking antibiotics, but her doctor wants her to heal the ulcer (which is sizable).
I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems.

Directly to your questions:
1) Both azithromycin and penicillin are 100% effective in curing incubating syphilis.
As fas as I know, nexium (esomeprazole) only interferes with biaxin (clarithromycin). It heightens the amount of esomeprazole by inhibiting the degradation of esomeprazole. I took 1500mg of Clarithromycin ER, and 1875mg of Amoxicillin that night. The following morning took another 1gm of the Niacin ER & 1375mg of Amoxicillin.
A related problem is mycoplasma pneumonae. Both are discussed in the article Clarithromycin Targets Neutrophilic Airway Inflammation in Refractory Asthma by Jodie Simpson et all which apeared in American Journal of Respriatory and Critical Care Medicine vol. 177. But here is my question. I ended up with a respiratory infection and the Doc gave me Clarithromycin, I have to take 2X 500mg a day for ten days. I started the medication the day of the sexual encounter.
Will Clarithromycin help clear up any of the STD's that I might have caught during the act?
There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time.

He had some left over clarithromycin 500 mg about 10 days worth and he began taking that. I told him he should just get tested but he dosent have insurance currently and is unemployed. He said even if I have an std clarithromycin should clear it up its a very strong anti-bacterial antibiotic. Is this true?
prescribed the triple therapy which consists of Lanzoprazole 30 mg, Amoxicillin 500 mg and clarithromycin 500 mg. The problem is that she told me to take only one pill of amoxicillin (500mg) every 12 hours but it was supposed to be two pills (1g) according to FDA and other resources. I am very concerned because I know that this bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. What should I do?, How long do I wait before I take another test to see if the bacteria is gone or not?
About a month ago I was prescribed a course of Clarithromycin for a skin infection. Since taking the drug I've suffered huge surges of adrenaline, which kicks in like a lighting shot at the point of sleep. It kept me away many nights and I was beside myself with worry. It's now more than three weeks since I stopped the medication (I only completed 2.5 days out of 7) and I find that the adrenaline surges have subsided somewhat.
I was on Biaxin, which is brand name for clarithromycin. Why did your MD not check the box for generic, which is generally a lot cheaper but is technically the same drug? It's a fairly common drug.
If you order online from a reputable/well-known website, you may be able to get a better price than at the corner pharmacy.
If you belong to WalMart or perhaps Target or similar stores, I understand their pharmacy charges are quite reasonable.
after a week I went to urologist,he made sonar for my lower abdominal,he checked tistis,and prostate...he took a sample from secretion of prostate ,and after two days he gave me antibiotc (clarithromycin) as he saw infection of prostate appearant ,and he gave (Metronidizole).....Few days, I felt muscles pain,fatigue,loss of weight,and costipation,and I saw ulcers on the tip of my penis and at the lower surface of tip of my tongue....I didn't get better...
Also experiencing sensation of sitting on a golf ball in the perirectal area at times. GP did not seem concerned, no tests, but gave me clarithromycin/metronidazole 10 day dose and symptoms(mostly penile tip pain sometimes hours at a time) still persist.
Could you please offer advise as to whether this could be a ureaplasm or myco? No way this is NG/Chlam right?

Hi, I was diagnosed with a sinus infection a few weeks ago and prescribed a z-pack, which I took with no issues. I am still feeling the symptoms in my sinuses so I went to the Dr last week and was prescribed Amoxicillin. About 20 mins after taking it I had this strange sensation on my lip...like a tingling/itching feeling and became itchy all over. I called the Dr and she prescribed Clarithromycin. I didn't want to take it right away, just in case I had a similar reaction.
