Hi, I was diagnosed with a sinus infection a few weeks ago and prescribed a z-pack, which I took with no issues. I am still feeling the symptoms in my sinuses so I went to the Dr last week and was prescribed Amoxicillin. About 20 mins after taking it I had this strange sensation on my lip...like a tingling/itching feeling and became itchy all over. I called the Dr and she prescribed Clarithromycin. I didn't want to take it right away, just in case I had a similar reaction.

On Tues. Feb. 24th I am having 11 teeth extracted. On Feb 12th I went to my dentist to get impressions made for my partials to be made. While I was there he prescribed pennicillin for a tooth infection. He said if this did not work, he wanted to prescribe Clindymiacin. I explained to him that I had tried that in the past and it made me extremely ill. He said that yes, it could cause some cramping and loose stools, but I would just have to put up with it to get rid of the infection.

But here is my question. I ended up with a respiratory infection and the Doc gave me Clarithromycin, I have to take 2X 500mg a day for ten days. I started the medication the day of the sexual encounter.
Will Clarithromycin help clear up any of the STD's that I might have caught during the act?
There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time.

So, had brief encounter with sex worker. I am a male and she a female, just for clarity and accuracy of response though I'm confident that this is irrelevant. In any case, I received oral sex lasting only a couple minutes then shortly after completed with handjob. Anyway, that night I had extreme regrets as this not something I regularly do, only once before. So in my anxious state, I thought it best to be proactive and see if I could prevent any full infection from developing.

I am pretty sure that my girlfriend and I did not have any sexual relations during the time I was on the Clarithromycin but am not sure during the doxycycline and if we did we usually use for condoms for sexual intercourse. My girlfriend struggles with IBS and one doctor suggested she may have Chrohns disease. She developed a lesion on her rectum in May of 2009.

you need to talk to your doctor. I believe that omeprazole is ok.
I also had antibiotics at the time I conceived (unknowingly). My baby is now nearly 7 weeks old and perfect.
I don't know about metronidazole.
MOst likely no problem as the blood supply to the embryo is not good at the beginning. But you need ot talk to your doctor and see what to do about the meds urgently an what's ok to take and what should be stopped.

As soon as I realized how stupid I was being, I rushed to the bathroom and immediately washed with sanitation soap. I have no signs of any symptoms on my penis. Yesterday 3/20/09 I was prescribed clarithromycin er 500 for 7 days for a sinus infection. After reading a lot on the internet it appears that EVERY STD can be obtained through oral sex which I was not aware. If I were your patient, what advice would you recommend?
Opthalmologists presceibe antibiotic for long periods if you have lyme disease eye problems - they are uysually the only medical professionals you can pretty much rely on to take lyme seriously since it can make you go blind. So if you do have eye problems, get off to an ophthalmologist.
As a last resort. a rather ridiculous one, I do know someone who managed to give herself acne (putting butter on her face) and cry about it to get long term doxycycline.
Following significant clinical improvement after 2 weeks of this therapy she was changed to oral clarithromycin monotherapy at discharge. Following nine months of clarithromycin therapy all lesions had resolved and therapy was ceased. After 3 years follow-up, no new lesions have evolved but residual post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and focal lipoatrophy were present at the sites of infection.
Then I was told to take ventollin expectorant I took it but nothings happening to my cough. Then she prescribed clarithromycin and I took it twice a day for a week. It got better,I had no difficulty in breathing anymore the I rarely cough the whole week. It's been 3 days since I stopped using it cause I finished the whole week of meds.
