Avatar f tn Hi everyone, My mom was recently diagnosed with Hep C associated cirrhosis. She has had some complications, including esophageal varices and ascites. She remains fairly well compensated and does not exhibit symptoms such as fatigue or confusion. During an endoscopy her doctor also noticed an ulcer and tested her for H pylori (which was positive). He's prescribed Prevpac to kill the bacteria and heal the ulcer.
Avatar m tn I just finished treatment 2 days ago for h pylori. It was two weeks on omeprazole, clarithromycin and Metronidazol for two weeks. The original pain I was having was heartburn, bloating and a pain on my side just under my rib cage. The antibiotics gave me diarrhea several times each day. I still have the diarrhea, as well as the heartburn and pain on my side. is this pain on my side something else? A hernia? A really bad ulcer?
Avatar f tn infection with helicobacter pylori and use of nonsteroidal anti inflammatory medications (NSAID). Although you are on PPI you need therapy for H pylori. Helicobacter pylori, also known as H. pylori, is a bacterium that is commonly found in the stomach. It is present in approximately one-half of the world's population. The vast majority of people infected with H. pylori infection have no symptoms and will never develop problems. No single drug cures H. pylori infection.
Avatar f tn Please let me know if you have got yourself tested for H Pylori after you started to use Manuka Honey? For how long did you use Honey?
1364835 tn?1278606642 The GI will probably start you on a round of antibiotics and PPI for the Hpylori. The H Pylori can cause burning pain which you stated you have. Remember to keep taking the probiotic while on these antibiotics so you do not get more yeast or Cdiff. He may want to still do a colonoscopy to look for colitis or other abnomalities with your colon and the hida scan if you are having pain on the right side. You seem to be getting the appropriate tests so do not worry. They can help you.
Avatar f tn Patm comes from h pylori for sure. I was disgnosed with h pylori after getting an endoscopy done. I’ve been taking meds for it’s. It’s a lot of medication. It’s clarithromycin 500, amoxicillin 500 mg, Lansaprozal 30 mg twice a day for about 10 days. I noticed a huge difference. People are not reacting to me as much. It hasn’t gone away completely but it’s been reduced to about 50% and I just started taking it 2 days ago.
Avatar f tn How was it determined that you still have H. pylori. Some tests can show the presence of antibodies to H. pylori in the system long after the H. pylori is long gone. Do a bit of reading on the different type of tests and find out if that could be the problem in your case.
Avatar m tn also fresh blood in stool. Went to emergency and the doc after examining said asked for blood test for H pylori (he mentioned there was no trace of piles etc). The blood test was positive and now I am under triple regimen ..(clarithromycin, amoxil, omeprazole) and am asked to take them for two weeks and after that go for another H pylori test which will most probably be negative. My bleeding has stopped since then (took lots of liquids so the stool is softer). My question is ...
Avatar n tn That test checks to see if substances that trigger the immune system to fight an H. pylori infection - H. pylori antigens- are present in your stool. The stool antigen testing may be done to help support a diagnosis of H. pylori infection. OR to determine whether treatment for an H. pylori infection has been successful. This is not the stool antibody test. Make sure you specify that when you talk to the doc.
Avatar f tn Hello dear experts, help me please. I have H pylori. Doctor prescribed: clarithromycin 500 mg (1 tablet twice a day), omeprazole 20 mg (1 tablet twice a day) and amoxicillin 500 mg (2 tablets twice a day). After just talking first and second doses I have bitter taste in my mouth. In addition, I feel weak and little scared. I am thinking, may be it is side effect or the medicine just has a bitter taste.
Avatar m tn i think it is not goining by antibiotic alone or garlic alone, i think H. Pylori can be treated by quadruple therapy for one week Esomeprazole (Nexium) + Clarithromycin (clacid) + Metronidazole (flagyl) + (Lactobacillus reuteri (i.e. biogaia) after the antibiotic course it has a suppression effect on h.pylori and prevent its occurance).
Avatar f tn Hi I had the soft stools before too. I am on2 antibiotics...flagyl and claritjromycin. I've had an abdominal ct a very good one from what I'm told a 64 slice mdct with contrast (oral and IV) pancreatic protocol also ultrasound. All good. I've seen stuff about manuka honey and aloe Vera juice as well for h pylori. I'll be done with antibiotics Friday night.
Avatar m tn It sounds like Helicobacter Pylori, or H-Pylori. Ask your doctor! Today, the standard triple therapy is amoxicillin, clarithromycin and a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole. At times, probiotics have been used. A patient with gastritis, or peptic/duodenal ulcers may also have the presence of H-pylori. You can read about it here (copy and paste the URL into your web browser.): http://h-p-bacteria.blogspot.com/ Good luck! And let me know how you are doing!
Avatar f tn So this is day nine on the prilosec and day seven on the antibiotics (Ammoxicillin and clarithromycin)for the H pylori. My symptoms are still there SOMETIMES after eating. For the most part it has been a bland diet, except for the exception of a hamburger yesterday which caused extreme discomfort. Could this be a side effect of the medicine or my stomach trying to heal still? Please let me know if I should tough it out with the antibiotics or could this be something else?
Avatar f tn Hi I started triple therapy for h pylori last Tuesday evening. Amxocilian and clarithromycin are my two antibiotics, two x's daily for 10 days. I was scheduled to start my period yesterday (Sunday)5 days after taking the antibiotic pills and have not be late for over two years of taking the pill. I am taking Ortho tri cyclen. I also came down with a cold yesterday. Is it normal to be late?
Avatar f tn There is no known relationship between H. pylori and the polyps. The polyps will not disappear by themselves. Polyps in any portion of the GI tract are a general 'warning' sign, and should be removed. Since the only way the polyps can be reached in the GB is via GB removal, that surgery should be done. The older recommendation was to wait to see if they grow, the newer recommendation is to have the GB removed. Anyone can get H. pylori again.
Avatar n tn The endoscopy resulted finding severe gastritis and positive results for H Pylori. Today it has been 6 days into a 10 day antiobiotic treatment (Tetracycline 250 mg and Clarithromycin 500 mgthe treatment along with Omeprazol twice a day. I have heard of the pain in the discomfort of the upper stomach associated with the bacteria among other things however; my biggest problem is the distended abdomen.
Avatar f tn Gastroscopy showed h pylori gastritis and a presence of excess bile in the stomach. Triple therapy antibiotics prescribed (lansoprazole, amoxi and clarithromycin), he says he feels a lot better, but i'm worried sick. He says he still gets an ache but it comes and goes and is not constant, he says that certain foods seem to make him feel worse, am I right in believing you can eradicate the h pylori but the gastritis takes time to heal?
Avatar m tn the following few days i had tremors anxiety and could not sleep this lasted a few days. then i had an appointment with gp who told me i had h pylori from a test the month previous i was given 3 tablets to cure it and 1 of them was ammoxicillin and again after 3 days the same symptoms came back. i was told that i react badly to ammoxicillin and was given different meds which are ok.
Avatar m tn , how long should I wait before I take another H. Pylori test?, how long would it be before I can repeat this treatment if I still have the bacteria?
