i suffered from a productive cough for at least 7 months, this is the 1st time i had a lung infection and my health is generally good. the cough developed while on holiday in australia. i was given several antibiotic courses which never totally resolved it. i was also never given a firm diagnosis. it began as an involuntary cough which produced thick sputum which varied between yellow and green, it progressed slowly and was not accompanied by fever.
I developed a cold 8 weeks ago runny nose, lots of phlegm in my cough but the cough felt contained to my throat, never in my lungs. After failing to fight off the cough myself I saw my local doctor 6 weeks ago, who prescribed Vibramycin-D (doxycycline) (1 weeks worth) because I’m allergic to penicillin. This has cleared up my infection the last two times I have taken it but this time I was still left with a persistent cough.
I am male. 28 years old. I have a low grade fever for almost 2 months now. It comes and go wether I take paracetamol or not. And my throat hurts sometimes like I am choking. But I can breath fine. I dont have headache, cough, runny nose. Someone help me to determime this. I consulted a doctor a week after I felt this. My cbc came back negative. I finished all the med they gave me but I dont think it worked. Thank you.
Next check up the doctor found it strange and sent me to get Dexamethasone injections for 3 days. The cough did not stop. After the injections i was sent to do a blood test which confirmed that my number of leukocytes was higher than normal. The doctor wanted to prescribe another antibiotic Pancef (Cefixime) which i refused to take because of the abnormal prescriptions of antibiotics.

Clarithromycin isn't the treatment of choice for any STD. However, it would effectively prevent most cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). But not all.
Antibiotics, including clarithromycin, have no effect on viruses and therefore cannot prevent herpes, HPV, or HIV.

I know I should use azithromycin with ceftriaxone for gonorrhea but she prescribed me clarithromycin. So, this is a wrong treatment for gonorrhea. I don’t know what to do with those ignorant doctors.
The doctor gave me the antibiotic clarithromycin, and some cough syrup but it is not getting better in fact I feel worse. They have checked my heart when I was in Peru (it was beating too fast as well as the constriction) and ruled that out as a problem. Really want to feel better but with no phlegm coming out I don't know how long this will last. Anyone have any advice?

My mom was recently diagnosed with Hep C associated cirrhosis. She has had some complications, including esophageal varices and ascites. She remains fairly well compensated and does not exhibit symptoms such as fatigue or confusion.
During an endoscopy her doctor also noticed an ulcer and tested her for H pylori (which was positive). He's prescribed Prevpac to kill the bacteria and heal the ulcer.
I'm hoping someone can help me. I had community acquired pneumonia at Christmas 15 for the first time which required 2 nights hospital stay. Prior to this if not had any real health issues, ex social smoker ie maybe 2/3 cigarettes every couple of weeks for about 8 years until about 13 months ago. 7 months later I got pneumonia again (still recovering now 3 weeks later).
Having diarrhea after antibiotics is not rare, but also not normal. I recommend you to have stool test for C-diff and for occult blood.
Having problems with breathing is probably from the acid coming up into your throat and then down into lungs. You should fix this promptly, it may damage your lungs (aspiration pneumonia, with lung scars).
There's another possibility - alergy to one of antibiotics. Would you say you have any lips or face swelling or skin itching?
As fas as I know, nexium (esomeprazole) only interferes with biaxin (clarithromycin). It heightens the amount of esomeprazole by inhibiting the degradation of esomeprazole. I've had a cough for the last few weeks and shortness of breath but I'm not sure if that's just a symptom of the flu and it's lingering or the nodules. Chest pains too but the doctor thought i had an ulcer and that it might have been referred pain from that. I'm not sure about the size but since they have just appeared in the last month or so I'm assuming they would have to be pretty small.
He had some left over clarithromycin 500 mg about 10 days worth and he began taking that. I told him he should just get tested but he dosent have insurance currently and is unemployed. He said even if I have an std clarithromycin should clear it up its a very strong anti-bacterial antibiotic. Is this true?
