My daughter who is 23 and has had her gallbladder out almost 3 yrs ago tongue turned black after vomiting this evening. Clarithromycin isn't the treatment of choice for any STD. However, it would effectively prevent most cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). But not all.
Antibiotics, including clarithromycin, have no effect on viruses and therefore cannot prevent herpes, HPV, or HIV.

It was a large mass on the back of her tongue that turned colors. from white to black. It was non cancerous, benign and now at the age of 14 it is back. It has been back for awhile. It is large white tumor like on the back of her tongue. The doctors want to remove it again. I cannot find anything on this that is not sexually related. It looks similar to a large wart. The doctors are always perplexed. Have you ever seen anything like this before.
Could be yeast but the brown spot is not associated with yeast there is a condition called black hairy tongue that can cause a brown or black spot on the tongue also what most people think is thrush is usually just bacterial coated tongue (quite common) only your DR or dentist can DX thrush. As fas as I know, nexium (esomeprazole) only interferes with biaxin (clarithromycin). It heightens the amount of esomeprazole by inhibiting the degradation of esomeprazole. I took 1500mg of Clarithromycin ER, and 1875mg of Amoxicillin that night. The following morning took another 1gm of the Niacin ER & 1375mg of Amoxicillin.
