a rather ridiculous one, I do know someone who managed to give herself acne (putting butter on her face) and cry about it to get long term doxycycline. It's too low a dose to ever cure you but it can hold things at bay till you get to see a useful doctor.

I took 1500mg of Clarithromycin ER, and 1875mg of Amoxicillin that night. The following morning took another 1gm of the Clarithromycin ER & 1375mg of Amoxicillin. Still on Day 2 (only 24 post exposure) took 500mg Clarithromycin ER. The next day, today took Amoxicillin 500mg & Clarithromycin ER 500mg & Ceftiaxone 1gm IV (prefer not to explain but I am in healthcare).

But here is my question. I ended up with a respiratory infection and the Doc gave me Clarithromycin, I have to take 2X 500mg a day for ten days. I started the medication the day of the sexual encounter. Will Clarithromycin help clear up any of the STD's that I might have caught during the act? There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time. Thanks for your responses!

Clarithromycin isn't the treatment of choice for any STD. However, it would effectively prevent most cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). But not all. Antibiotics, including clarithromycin, have no effect on viruses and therefore cannot prevent herpes, HPV, or HIV.

He had some left over clarithromycin 500 mg about 10 days worth and he began taking that. I told him he should just get tested but he dosent have insurance currently and is unemployed. He said even if I have an std clarithromycin should clear it up its a very strong anti-bacterial antibiotic. Is this true?

Hi my name is jennifer I been taking antibiotics for the past 2 weeks, Omeprazole 20 mg, Metronidazole 500 mg and Clarithromycin 500 mg and also I been taking my birth control pills for the past 3 weeks (Jolivette). I jus found out today I am pregnant. I'm concer with the health of the unborn baby. I am worry if the any possibility of births defects and any other problem related to the medications.

She said it was not possible oral swab to be done at that clinic (just genital). She decided to start a treatment (clarithromycin and ceftriaxone) for gonorrhea (without testing and diagnosis). I hope it works if I have oral gonorrhea. Sorry to bother you. I am just worried.

Hi I started triple therapy for h pylori last Tuesday evening. Amxocilian and clarithromycin are my two antibiotics, two x's daily for 10 days. I was scheduled to start my period yesterday (Sunday)5 days after taking the antibiotic pills and have not be late for over two years of taking the pill. I am taking Ortho tri cyclen. I also came down with a cold yesterday. Is it normal to be late?

prescribed the triple therapy which consists of Lanzoprazole 30 mg, Amoxicillin 500 mg and clarithromycin 500 mg. The problem is that she told me to take only one pill of amoxicillin (500mg) every 12 hours but it was supposed to be two pills (1g) according to FDA and other resources. I took one dose of clarithromycin in a PrevPac yesterday (first day) and I started having chest pains last evening, anxiety (suicidal thoughts), weakness, couldn't think, etc..I'm stopping immediately. Just continuing with the Amoxicillin.

About 6 months ago I also started to have skin problems and my eyes got red and dry, the doctors told me is just acne and that my eyes are dry but the creams for the skin and drops didnt work during the last 6 months... 2 months ago the pain in the stomach got really intolerable, so I went to the doctor and after an ultrasound they found polyps in the gallbladder. s been well over a month since I stopped taking Clarithromycin (sp?). As soon as I stopped taking it (and even a few days before), I was having tenderness in BOTH sides, not just my GM (left) breast. My first thought was definitely that it was starting again. But after a week or two of tenderness and shooting pains, it just stopped. My breast is almost normal again.

It has been over 48 hours since I took that one dose of the Clarithromycin and now I am wondering if it was caused by that at all. Maybe its just the fact that my skin is dry due to the weather. I do have pretty significant anxiety at times and I don't know if maybe I am just more aware of being itchy or if my anxiety could somehow be causing it. So, here's my question: Is it likely that I would still be itching 48 hours after taking one pill?
