During those three months I have been on three different antidepressants (Poraxetine, Zoloft, and Citalopram). Presently, I am on citalopram 10 mil. I started out on the 20 mil but my body could not take it, my anxiety increased ten fold. I was put on the 10 mil for 7 to 10 days and then tried the 20 mil. But again the anxiety increased, and I had muscle twitching and involuntary muscle jerking while seated and in bed at night.
These meds all have different trade offs and results, so you have to experiment until you get the right one. So I would get a list of compatible SSRIs and SNRIs and start trying them. SSRIs can take up to 6 weeks to see a result. I had full results in 2 weeks with the SNRI I was on, it's called Nefazadone.
Because of difficult circumstances, I've been forced to stop my medications cold turkey. I take 20 mg of citalopram (celexa) and Depakote (I forgot the dose but it's calibrated to my weight) for depression and mood stabilization and I've been experiencing alarmingly strange and uncomfortable side effects of the withdrawal.
I feel sluggish, weak, and dizzy. I feel like my head is both floating and too heavy.

Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price.

I was wondering if anxiety can cause my chest pain off and on during the week. also i am on citalopram and xanax (when i need it), are those medications okay to take or are they harmful in the long run.
I have been taking Citalopram for about 9 months for anxiety and panic attacks. I still have a hard time just sitting around, I feel like I have to be busy all the time to keep me from wanting to run or jump up and down. I feel figity and cannot sit still. I am on 40 mg. a day.
I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
hi i suffer with really bad health anxiety,i was taking 10mg of citalopram when i was pregnant but i was increased to 20 a few months back as i didnt seem to be making progress,i was worse in some ways,since my increase i have noticed some improvements.
Hello, I am a 54 year old male with severe anxiety and am taking 40 mg of citalopram and lotrel for bp issues. I recently read that citalopram can cause long qt syndrome and since my anxiety issues are driven by my health, I am concerned. My resting heart rate is in the low 50's, I have no family history of long qt, but with my low heart rate I wonder if I should cease to use citalopram. My doctor does not feel this is a problem but I thought I should seek other opinions Thanks .
