Avatar m tn I have since found out it is not a good idea to split a Somac tablet. I'm still interested to hear from anyone who has an opinion about whether a 20mg tab twice a day is any better than a 40mg once a day.
Avatar f tn I have suffered with anxiety and depression for the past year and have been taking 40mg of Citalopram. The past couple of months I have been feeling fantastic but the past week I am starting to feel down and like there is no point to anything again. The only thing I can think is I missed 2 days of my Citalopram and I have been taking it sporadically instead of the same time every day, I'm skipping a day here and there! Could that be the reason?
Avatar f tn She has me on one quarter of a 20 mg tab for four days, then a half tab for four, three quarters for four days and finally a full twenty. Has anyone else started like this? The doc wanted to help me with side effects since I am very sensitive in the stomach. Will starting this slower make the theraputic effects take longer to show. I am desperate to feel normal again. I am on .25 of xanax to help with the transition. Any one else in the same boat? Thanks!!

Avatar f tn Hi all, I'm a sixteen year old girl with really bad anxiety and OCD. When I was a little kid, I had a phobia of choking for four years, which got so bad that I stopped eating solid food entirely, and had panic attacks if I was around "choking hazards" (small toys, beads, etc). It was mainly about breathing, not choking itself, since I was also very scared of drowning, suffocating, having a heart attack, etc.
Avatar f tn Hey..just made this profile as after two years of suffering depression I finally got the courage to go to the doctors yesterday and he said I had servere depression and anxiety and prescribed me on Citalopram 20mg .... 732401 tn?1231613448 I was just prescribed CITALOPRAM 10mg once a day for my anxiety. I am scared to take it due to the side effects and I think once I take it my partying days are over, but I really need it. This is my first time taking meds for anxiety. Is there anyone out there who has had success with this drug and what should I expect?
Avatar f tn I have been on 40 mg of Citalopram once a day for 2 years now. It has really helped me cope with my major depression and live my everyday life. Lately though, with starting my new semester at school I have become increasingly irritable, withdrawn, moody, and have broken down crying about simple things. These are all symptoms of my previous depression and are really concerning me. Is it possible that the Citalopram has worn off? Do I just need a higher dose?
Avatar m tn I have been taking Citalopram (antidepressent) for years now, 40mg daily. The depressive mood comes and goes! But I wonder if I stop taking it gradually will there be withdrawal symptoms? Is there dependency on this medicine? I was thinking for instance to decrease it 5mg every two weeks or a month.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone I started having severe anxiety attacks two month ago, though I have suffered with anxiety my whole life. I have been on Citalopram for four days now and the side effects seems to be increasing. I am on a small dose, one quarter of a 20 mg tablet. I am suppose to go up to one half of a 20 mg tab today but am afraid to. I am jittery, have headaches, am groggy but panic when I try to sleep, have heat flashes through my upper body, my eyes feels strange...the list goes on.
Avatar m tn I have suffered for many years from tics, having started in my hands soon after I started taking citalopram around 8 years ago. They have become so bad I have taken myself of the medication (panic managable so far, thankfully) but the tics don't seem to have got any better, if anything they've got worse. Does anyone have any experience of these stopping after a period of time drug free? One would hope they are not a permanent side effect as they are pretty chronic.
Avatar f tn i have had depression for 5 years and am treated with citalopram 40mg at times i get such bad anxiety and nausea and dizziness icant really connect it to any depressive episodes though i do feel sick when my nerves are bad also does anyone know how to wean yourself off medication very slowly

4676475 tn?1357862304 Hey, well i been taking citalopram(40mg) almost for three years, i am 19 years old recently last week i been trying to stop taking them for the reason that later in life i want to be healthy and taking no type of medication because i want to have kids and have a family, but it seems not be happening for me i just started with the anxiety last night and i hate the side effects on not taking the medication. well my main question is if its safe taking this medication while pregnancy?
Avatar m tn Both citalopram, (Celexa) and escitalopram, (Lexapro) are SSRI's and both have, as unlabeled uses the control of panic. They both also have CNS side effects of anxiety in the beginning stages of treatment. You say you've been on the citalopram for approximately 5 weeks? It can take up to 35 days for citalopram to reach "steady state" in your blood, which means you won't begin to feel any real relief from your depresson for possibly a bit over a month.
Avatar f tn i have had 5 years of citalopram for depression and anxiety and i had cbt for cancer phobis which worked im on 40mg and am wondering if im becoming immune to its effects as i have a lot of panic attacks does anyone know anything about this im scared to change meds as worry about side effects dont want to go to higher dose sometimes its like a living hell please help !!!!!
Avatar m tn He was under treatment and was given Pentasa granules , T PAN (40mg), Tab wysolone and Pentasa Anema. As there was no improvement. Doctor adviced to have Exemptia (Adalimumab) injection. 4 injections (40mg 8ml) was given. Next day he was having stomach pain, tight and rigid stomach, and fast breathing. He was immediately admitted in the nearby hospital and doctor found he was suffering from megacolon (toxic colon).
Avatar n tn Wife, 89, has history of atril fib and is prescribed lisinopril (40mg), lasix (40mg) and lanoxin (20mg) along with coumadin (5mg) daily. Recent wide-ranging BP/Pulse readings (160's/80's and pulse below 50) led to adding Toprol XL. First tab last night at bedtime resulted in lowered BP (128/50 and pulse of 41) this AM. Accompanied by inability to urinate (except few drops) for a water drinker.
Avatar m tn I have been on citalopram 40mg (generic for celexa) for almost 8 weeks now I still have the ups and downs I would like to think that I am more up than down but I still have my moments especially when I have nothing else to occupy my mind and my mind starts to wander. I start thinking about things I shouldn't that can still send me into a panic but they are definitely not as bad as they used to be and I have learned to control most of them.
Avatar f tn My Dr. (nurse practitioner) gave me Citalopram 20-mg to take with the buspirone and advised me to break it in half for the first week and then start on the whole 20-mg second week.. I was wondering if the two combines would hurt me.. I also take Micardis 40-mg once in the morning and Propranolol 20-mg that I take in the evening.. I just want to make sure before i take the Citalopram.. And if you suggest I take it, what is a good time, morning, afternoon or evening? Thank you and God bless..
Avatar f tn i hv bn on citalopram 120mg. I hv excessive sweating. dr suggested going on bupropion.
Avatar f tn He is now drinking and using drugs while taking the Citalopram and about a month ago he went from the 20mg to the 40mg, and things got even worse. He is rude and gets very irritated for no reason and has no respect for himself or the people in his life. He is more depressed now than he was before he started the medication. The best word to describe him now is a zombie. His great personality and humor is gone. All he wants to do is lay around and sleep, or get drunk.
