citalopram medication

I have really bad shakes, nausea, and tinnitus (ear ringing) from medication I take for my thyroid. My Dr. gave me some depression medication and told me it may supress the symptoms. It ended up making them worse. He gave me citalopram. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I gor diagnosed with depression and anxiety and age 16, three years later here I am and pregnant! I stopped my medication as soon as I found out (20 mg citalopram) but my anxiety and depression are so bad, I really feel like I need my medication. Has anyone taken citalopram or another antidepressent while pregnant? pros and cons?

I was on Lexapro then to citalopram because of costs, added effexor and still had such horrific depression I wouldn't get out of bed for days. Then I started on 5mg saphris twice a day. At first I felt great but a little too high, so went from 80 mg citalopram to 40 mg a day.

I live in the UK and I take 40mg of citalopram daily (I think the USA call in celexa? ) and I've been told by my midwives it's safe for baby and to use during breastfeeding, but comes with a small risk of pulmonary hypertension.

Those particular side effects are very common with citalopram and hopefully will soon abate. We cannot tell you to take ANY kind of medication, even aspirin or Tylenol. Call your local pharmacist and ask him/her if there are any contraindications, which I doubt there are. Remember that pharmacists are DOCTORS of pharmacology and any questions you have regarding scripts or OTCs they can answer. Pharmas ROCK!

I have never, persoanlly, taken citalopram, but there are plenty of folks here who have and hopefully they will respond with their experiences with this med. Most of us with an anxiety/panic disorder are "wary" of side effects. But bear in mind that we are all different and your son may not experience any, or if he does, he may find that they are bearable.

i have had depression for 5 years and am treated with citalopram 40mg at times i get such bad anxiety and nausea and dizziness icant really connect it to any depressive episodes though i do feel sick when my nerves are bad also does anyone know how to wean yourself off medication very slowly

Most of us who suffer from panic attacks take an antidepressant and an anxiety medication, I myself take Citalopram. Contact your doctor and go from there....he is your best resource. Take care.

But he gave me a 6 month supply of Escitalopram (Lexapro) instead of Citalopram. Escitalopram is just the S enantiomer of citalopram, and apparently has better anti-anxiety effects. Today I finished my previous stock of Citalopram. Unfortunately, my doctor here near my flat is on holiday, tomorrow is All Souls Day which is a holiday too. The next appointment I can get is probably next week. Is it okay to switch to Lexapro? I mean, I have no other choice as of now.

I started taking Citalopram because I have been having intense weird thoughts that make no sense intrusive even. I have been having them for three weeks straight with three days of none at all. I have a history of anxiety and panic attack. I have been taking this medication for four days and the thoughts are getting more frequent and worse is this normal? My ears are all so ringing non stop will the ringing go away?

Hi....I take this for general anxiety with excellent results. You don't have all the side effects with this type of medication compared to an antidepressant. I think you will find that you're going to feel much better! Take care.

I was just seeing if anyone else has experienced side effects from taking these kinds of Medication. My side effects are coughing very bad especially at night time. Struggling to go to the toilet when passing urine, like the feeling you need to go again even after you have been. Really bad bloating and diarrhea but only go once a week. Plus my breasts are very sore. No im not pregnant....When i first started on them i was on 20mg and struggled eatting the Doctor put me to 30mg.

Hi all, I take medication for bipolar II, however this doesn't seem to help at all with my anxiety issues. My pdoc is referring me to an anxiety management group but I'm scared of going, I know that if I'm having a parituclarly bad day I won't be able to get out the door to go the meeting!

To treat the anxiety i started on Citalopram and this medication only made me very tired. (falling asleep in class). after talking with my counselor i started back on Add meds 2 days ago starting at 50mg Vyvanse. Once again just as focalin did this made me very sick last night causing the palor and tremor just as focalin had. I experienced twitches and insomnia last night got 2 hours of sleep but and 5 the night before but am awake but i feel terrible.

Citalopram shouldn't show up on a drug screen because it's not a narcotic. It's an anti-depression medication. If you are really worried about it call a Pharmacist...they should have that answer.

Hey, I have been taking tablets for depression since November 2012, I felt they weren't working so I have been changed from Citalopram 20mg onto Fluoxetine 20mg. I was told to take no pills for two days to flush the old ones and then start on the new pills but recently I have been having weird feelings like I may vomit, shaky, anxiety, my mind feels wobbly and a sense of unreality like its not real. Unfortunatly most times depression like this doesn't just go away. If you never were diagnosed as suffering Major depression, then shame on the doctor that prescribed you an SSRI medication. (2.) Yes, you will get withdrawl symptoms.

i want to avoid being on anything that means I have to avoid foods, i have very little appetite due to my eating disorder and being on sertraline, I need medication that doesn't limit my diet EVEN MORE, as it makes things a bit tricky.
