ciprofloxacin with antacids

On March 31st I just finished taking 2 500 mg of Ciprofloxacin per day, On April 4th I started getting pain just below the left bottom rib ? esophagus? every day sice then I have had on and off pain across my stomach and most times a dull ache, antacids seem to do little to help, Does this sound like it could have been caused by the antibiotic I was taking? Any info would be appreciated.

I have recently spent some time looking into the functioning of different antacids. After some considerable amount of reading, I have come to the conclusion that one of the best of this group of medications is Prilosec (omeprazole). I did once give this drug a poor rating, but recent evidence suggests it's actually proving to be one of the safest and most effective.

Hi Tam, There are no Dr's on this forum. I am not sure about Maalox, but I would check with the pharmascist. They tend to be the experts, even on over the counter medications. Good luck to you.

Are antacids or,any other heartburn relief medications safe during 2nd trimester? If so, what kind do you suggest?

I have been diagnosed with acute gastritis a year ago. And again this year, I have experienced an attack for the second time and was treated at the hospital. I took Maalox antacid for the first two days, but the more I take this medicine, the more often my stomach aches. My doctor said that it may be the medicine - Maalox that causes this pain, so he changed my medicine to geltazine capsule. I was dx with ovarian mucinous cystadenocarcinoma stage 3B grade 1 in 6/2007. I had cisplatin and taxol I/V and I/P and completed all 18 treatments. After chemo the small spots in my diaphragm still remained. My onc considered me stable. In January a recurrence was found coming through the rectal colon wall during a colonoscopy. Another tumor was found behind my liver, posssibly coming down from the diaphragm.

I was put on Atenolol for tachycardia and high blood pressure after undergoing thyroid surgery for toxic nodules. I keep reading about how certain antacids can cause your blood pressure to go up. I have GERD and am experiencing esophagitis again, and I would like to be able to take something for it. Is Zantac75 okay to take with a beta-blocker? And will it increase my blood pressure? I had unprotected exposure in Dec 2013, but all tests are negative except bacterial infection on penis. My doctor and the specialty pharmacist said the the calcium carbonate based antacids are fine to take. I have not researched the content of all antacids, but the ones I take are the chewable calcium carbonate based antacids (they look like TUMs) Read the label to be sure the ingredient is calcium carbonate. If you have those then consider taking antacids when you eat foods that upset your stomach. I get lots of pvcs if I get acid reflux and the antacids really seem to help a lot. By taking (ciprofloxacin or antibiotics) is there a possibility that can affect the sign & symptoms or ARS of hiv after 2 – 4 weeks exposure??

Well with the discharge gone and not returning as of yet (knock on wood) it does mean it is getting better.

With proper medications, I would say these things can be extremely healthy and beneficial. Without proper medications, I wouldn't suggest it unless a doctor gives approval. If you took a medication before and it didn't help, you might just need another one.
