I had to have a root canal redone as my previous dentist did not get the whole nerve and it became infected. The Dentist put me on amoxicillin 875mg twice a day, after 6 days I called him as it was having no effect. he then put me on clyndamycin 300mg twice a day, this is day two, it seemed better this morning and by this afternoon it isswelling slightly the tissue above my tooth is spongie again and I can tell it's filling with pus.
Is the antibiotic ciprofloxacin effective to treat chlamydia? If so, what dosage?
i was about to be cured from Gonorrhea but i skip some dosage of cephalexin, my problem now is i need to switch to CIPROFLOXACIN but i found out that it wasn't working for me some how im one of those patient's who were resistant to it according to the UPDATES on GONORRHEA RESISTANCE... should i go back to cephalexin? my dosage before was 500mg 3x a day...

I have some sore on foreskin of my penis 3months ago, at first i'd go to doctor then he gave me ciprofloxacin, and it's getting better, and i was stopped the dosage, that time the sore is happend again.

Perhaps this is not the right venue, as I'm certain I don't have an STD because there was no encounter. However, I am showing signs of urethritis. I won't get into specifics, but likely due to introducing old masturbation toys. Cipro is not recommended, I believe due to it's ineffectiveness against other STD's.
If the NGU is not from and STD, would the drug be effective?
Slight indication of infection/soreness at incisor site prior to cipro. Docs not back till tomorrow, do I not ingest todays dosage?
In parallel, we did the semen analysis also at a Urology center. They have prescribed Ciprofloxacin 500mg for 14 days-2 dosage each day. At the moment I stopped taking thyroxine and taking only Cipro.
Our worry is whether the hypothyrodism is causing issue in low fertility and motility or the infection in semen (for suggesting to take Ciprofloxacin) the main problem now?
Is hypothyrodism resolved with the intake of Ciprofloxacin or are both different issues? Please clarify.
After the 2 week period the sexual health clinic advised me to see my general practitioner because the chlamydia should be gone. The gp examined me on April 18th and decided to give me ciprofloxacin which I presume he diagnosed that it is a uti. I had completed the week's course of it and the pain in my epididymitis has changed from a burn to an achy feeling. I decided to get myself tested on April 24th at another facility that was not the clinic.

Trimethoprim is probably the most widely used antibiotic for UTIs and is usually taken for 7 days. It is often recommended that trimethoprim be taken at night to ensure maximal urinary concentrations and increase its effectiveness.
I don't know if I have Trich or not but I was wondering if taking Ciprofloxacin 500mg 2x daily would cure it?

My advice is to not worry. Your chance of infection is minuscule.
Penicillin indeed is the treatment of choice, in fact the only recommended treatment. Cefalexin has never been studied against syphilis. It probably would have some activity, but cannot be considered reliable treatment -- and it could screw up further diagnostic testing, for example to judge whether it had actually worked.
If you would like to provide more information about your syphilis diagnosis (stage, blood test results, etc) I might have additional thoughts.
The following drugs were prescribed the for me Ciprofloxacin. After using the drug for some days, the burning sensation stopped and the red swollen vanished. I continued to use the drugs until I comleted the dosage.
Despite that the burning sensation and the red swelling vanished, I still have the thick white discharge from the tip of my penis till date.

Furthermore, if you are being treated with ciprofloxacin for a possible chlamydial infection, it may be the wrong medication. Ciprofloxacin is NOT recommended for chlamydial treatment although many related medications are. It would be best to wait two weeks until you are tested.
Regarding what your refer to as your “strange symptom”.
After i had my youngest son, the dr phoned in some meds once i was home from the hospital and he had the dosage wrong too. The pharmacist had a sticky note on the bag and bottle and told me not to take as much as the lable said to because it could damage the liver. Just be careful and dont take as much as the bottle says to. Youre supposed to keep your aceto intake below 4,000 mg at the max for a 24 hr period.
On this forum we try not to second guess health care providers who have the benefit of seeing and examining their patients. That said, ciprofloxacin is frequently used for therapy of food bourne GI tract infections with great success. On the other hand, the drug is not reliably effective for chlamydial infections and the frequency of ciprofloxacin resistant gonorrhea in the US now exceeds 20% making it a poor choice for that process as well.

Thank you very much for your reply. I've seen 3 doctors already -- 2 primary and a well respected local dermatologist in Burbank, CA. As for the websites, yes, I've researched extensively online regarding this subject and I had found and read those two.
When you said "investigations," do you mean lab tests? My primary doctor has tested me for diabetes, which was negative, and I've been tested for most STD's, which were all negative as well.
In the mean time I started her on a week of ciprofloxacin, once again no results. They then said an x ray might be needed to check for kidney/bladder stones but again nothing showed up. After this they recommended an ultrasound and everything came back normal. Then they performed another urine culture and were able to identify E. coli and acinetobacter lwoffii, they immediately started her on two weeks of simplicef antibiotics.

It is difficult to say if they are due to the underlying disease or due to ciprofloxacin. You should consult your doctor for a complete evaluation and diagnosis.
