Avatar n tn The diagnosis of osteomyelitis is a severe one with definite symptoms. You might have a residual infection from the old rct with the silver points. I would have this diagnosis checked by an oral surgeon because the treatment is aggressive and immediate.
Avatar f tn I am a nursing student that is researching about osteomyelitis or bone infection. I would like to talk to anyone who has gone thru osteomyelitis, know someone who has and wants to share their experiences with me. I look forward for your postings.

Avatar f tn Has anyone ever had or know anything about skull or jaw osteomyelitis. I know it's an infection that spreads from somewhere else usually but i'm wondering if anyone has had it and can let me know the symptoms. If so i would really appreciate it. I've been having some weird symptoms lately and a little worried it may be this.
Avatar f tn Osteomyelitis is infection of bone and as you have chronic osteomyelitis your line of treatment you expained in your post is perfect. Always remember that you have to stay clean and hygienic even after you come home and reduce the chances of infection completely. Take care and with proper treatment, care and support you will be fine.
Avatar f tn I don't know if I have Trich or not but I was wondering if taking Ciprofloxacin 500mg 2x daily would cure it?
Avatar f tn The danger is the infection will go into the bone and result in osteomyelitis, which may mean weeks on an intravenous line in a hospital. Oral antibiotics do not work well for toe infections. Soaking in salt water will enhance the chances of developing osteomyelitis. You should get an x-ray film of the toe and ideally the infection be cultured. Osteomyelitis is very nasty and can spread to the metatarsals and the leg, which could result in amputation of the toe, foot or leg.
Avatar f tn After all the tests the doctor diagnosed chronic osteomyelitis in left femur and told me that this is not a big issue as you were having this from early time and aslo the doctor suggested when ever you are dealing with the take a painkiller or paracetamol and just forget about it. But Now before three months I consulted another orthopedic surgeon who is also a orthopedic professor he also told me for some tests like MRI Xray and blood test and he also diagnosed the same I.
Avatar f tn Hi The various conditions which fit your description of symptoms may include ankylosing spondylitis, Langerhans cell histiocytosis, acute osteomyelitis and some rare syndromes such as the SAPHO syndrome, PPHS and adult CRMO. SAPHO syndrome is a chronic disorder that involves the skin, bone, and joints.
Avatar f tn Minor toe infections often develop into full-fledged osteomyelitis. Painful pinching is sometimes the warning symptom. You could lose toes, a foot or a leg. This is very common with diabetics. This, of course is a "worse-case" scenario. You need a visit to a good podiatrist affiliated with a hospital to take an x-ray and then an MRI if indicated, as well as a diabetic screen (an hba1c blood test). This problem must be evaluated in person by a professional immediately.
Avatar f tn At the very least an X-ray film is required to determine if there is osteomyelitis. Often the x-ray will be clear but osteomyelitis will show on an MRI. Protocols change and the current drill is to keep the infectious area dry, as I mentioned..External bactricidal ointments are ineffectual.
Avatar m tn In march 2020, he went to doctor and found that it was elsewhere managed case of infective arthritis of left hip chronic osteomyelitis. The doctor excised arthroplasty of femoral head and applied antibiotic spaces and did sequestectomy of left femur shoft and debedement of dead bone and tissues. Gave antibiotic and discharged aftet some days. After stitch removal , some days later , the whole place filled and swelled. When pressed , a lot of pus came out.
Avatar m tn You may or may not have an infection and may or may not have osteomyelitis. Only an MRI can act as a diagnosis for osteomyelitis. Fever is an indication of a blood infection. Some hospitals use a thermal scanner for the foot. Elevated temperature means probable infection. Head for the ER.
Avatar f tn And #8 indicated you have a chronic infection in your right hip. The medical term for that is Osteomyelitis. It is an infection of bone or bone marrow. By definition Osteomyelitis is inflammation of the bone and marrow, but since it is always caused by an infection, it indirectly implies an infection. It generally encompasses all of the bone including the bone marrow. When it is chronic it can lead to bone sclerosis and deformity.
Avatar n tn re talking of cutting the 4 smaller toe She has osteomyelitis and cellulitis in one foot. Antibiotics have been unsucessful and according to the docs she waited too long for an operation (they say it could have been a simple removal of bone without amputation, a while ago). The case is about 8 months old now - from start of 1st symptoms. She still responds to antibiotics.
Avatar n tn 4 days later following a subsequent bloodtest, mri scan and observation he was diagnosed with osteomyelitis with the source of the infection thought to be either an earlier infected cut in his heel (3 months earlier treated with antibiotics prescribed by our gp) or excema he has around his ankle. He has now been on iv antibiotics for 3+ weeks and 2 1/2 weeks ago had an operation which a. removed 'pus' from an abscess near his ankle and b.
Avatar n tn http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/cipro_ad.htm) It is difficult to say if they are due to the underlying disease or due to ciprofloxacin. You should consult your doctor for a complete evaluation and diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Soaking the foot is contraindicated. Do NOT do this. If this is a bacterial infection the drill is to keep the area dry. You need a consult with a podiatrist, and at the minimum an x-ray or the foot, preferably an MRI. This will determine if an infection has worked it's way into the bone, a condition called osteomyelitis. The bad news bears. A differential diagnosis must be made as to whether the problem is fungal or bacterial.
Avatar f tn What antibiotic is better to take for a tooth infection/ absess tooth Ciprofloxacin or Bactrim?

15490416 tn?1440916507 First off, a color dopplar and vascular evaluation is required to determine the amount of blood flow in both legs. In general, amputation of a toe, foot, of limb is only necessary if there is osteomyelitis, which is determined in the United States by an MRI. Antibiotic treatment alone rarely resolves osteomyelitis, especially if there is vascular compromise. When the toe was amputated a culture should have been taken to determine the exact nature of the infectious organisms.
Avatar n tn got chronic sternal osteomyelitis, had debridements (5). anti biotics no longer work. I will not have sternum removed.
Avatar n tn What is the different of ciprofloxacin 500mg and phenazopyridine 200mg want are they use for
Avatar m tn The lymph node itself, when touched, does not feel painful, and is about as large as a quarter. As a child, I had osteomyelitis in my right hip, which thankfully was diagnosed and treated before anything serious became of it, but it scares me to think it could have come back on the left side. There is no redness, or swelling, other than the lymph node (swollen), and the pain in my left hip (if attributed to the lymph node) shows no external signs.
Avatar f tn It could be a clot, but you need a professional look-see. If the infection migrates to the bone, you develop osteomyelitis, which is a nightmare on elm street, and may require weeks of intravenous therapy..
Avatar m tn I had a swollen right testicle which was treated by ciprofloxacin 500g twice daily. The swelling went and the pain in the testicle reduced but then my left one started to hurt, is that conman for the infection to swap sides. I also have pain in my lower back and lower abdomen and very painful headaches. The doctor didn't seem to bothered about it or even check it over. They have prescribed me another 10 day course of ciprofloxacin.
Avatar m tn In parallel, we did the semen analysis also at a Urology center. They have prescribed Ciprofloxacin 500mg for 14 days-2 dosage each day. At the moment I stopped taking thyroxine and taking only Cipro. Our worry is whether the hypothyrodism is causing issue in low fertility and motility or the infection in semen (for suggesting to take Ciprofloxacin) the main problem now? Is hypothyrodism resolved with the intake of Ciprofloxacin or are both different issues? Please clarify.
