Ciprofloxacin and diverticulitis

Common Questions and Answers about Ciprofloxacin and diverticulitis

cipro

Avatar n tn t gotten my results, yet. I stopped taking the Ciprofloxacin and the Metronidazole, and I feel way better. I still have the occasional pain, and the HIDA scan hurt really bad, too. It didn't click that it could've been my medications until today (Sunday), and obviously I won't be seeing my doc. Is it possible that these medications could have caused me to have a gallbladder attack? If so, will all of these tests find anything?
Avatar n tn A colonoscopy is how most diverticulitis is discovered, and yes it is safe.
Avatar f tn I don't know if I have Trich or not but I was wondering if taking Ciprofloxacin 500mg 2x daily would cure it?
Avatar f tn (My weight is about 145 kg, previously has been 188 kg, with a length of 170cm) It started in 2006, I did get nitrofurantoin, but I got only more ill, till I even got over 41 degree fever and an emergency-doctor then prescribed ciprofloxacin which did help (this was in Holland). Since 2008 we are in UK and I have been under treatment at St George, London, till 2010.
Avatar n tn From the symptoms I really thought I might be pregnant, bloated, nausea, diarrhea, light headed, exhausted all the time, but I knew I couldnt be with birth control and I had a test before the BC. Turns out its diverticulitis. Symptoms to me seem very similar. Never had a child though so I cant say for sure. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I read online that the combination of Ciprofloxacin and Azithromycin can be dangerous. Is this still the case, if the last Ciprodose was one week before the 2g Azithromycin dose?
Avatar f tn I filled the prescription but before I could start taking it, I had another diverticulitis attack. I am currently taking flagyl and levaquin for the diverticulitis. I am also on omeprazole daily. My question is how do I manage these two conditions when one requires a high fiber diet and the other a low fiber.
Avatar m tn Ciprofloxacin has been linked to rare but occasionally severe and even fatal cases of acute liver injury..... i m not a doctor but this is not assuring, our doctor always used agumentin, check with your doctor if that is suitable for your problem.
Avatar n tn About 3 weeks ago I had a sudden onset of pain in my stomach between my ribcage and my hip, left side, halfway between my naval and side. Pain got worse over the next few hours. Called doctor on call (it was evening) and he suggested I go in to ER to have it checked out, could be kidney stone. Urinalysis came back ok so they wanted to do CT with contrast instead of no contrast to check for diverticulitis. In the meantime my white blood count came back a little high.
Avatar n tn Well with the discharge gone and not returning as of yet (knock on wood) it does mean it is getting better.
Avatar n tn After taking a fluoroquinolone, the worst being Ciprofloxacin and Levaquin, but also Avelox, and several others, any medications doctors prescribe from there on will greatly worsen a person's condition......as will all over-the-counter drugs. Most doctors know less than nothing about this drug. Nor will blood tests show anything; that's because this drug destroys the human body at the molecular level. Designed to kill anthrax, it is also used as a chemotherapy drug.
187666 tn?1331173345 Tuesday things only got worse. I ended up in ER with all the usual treatments. They did a CT scan and said I had diverticulitis. What a nasty little surprise. They did an IV bag of Zosyn, sent me home finally with plenty of metronidazole (QID) and SulfaTrim (BID). The intense abdominal pains have eased but now I feel like I have the "stomach flu" - just cramps, gurgling, nausea and watery stools every hour or so.
Avatar m tn You could have a pelvic floor disorder.I'm 45 and the past 3 yrs and 6 doctors later and different meds later turn out that whats i've been diagnosed with.Lot of pressure around bladder area, burning and aching in the lower area &testicles.Lot of drs dont reconize this disorder.Let me know if you want more info.
Avatar n tn I also suffer from diverticulosis and had multiple episodes of diverticulitis, which led to colon resection. I think the problem with strawberries is that the skin has little seeds on them. I have been staying away from them for that reason. Hope this helps...
Avatar f tn Does anyone know about diverticulitis? I had pain on my left side and trouble pooping and went to the ER. They took a CT scan and said I had diverticulitis with inflammation. I was given antibiotics, and later told to get IV antibiotics. But when I was in the hospital the doctor said I was schedule for a surgery consultation, and no one told me they were considering surgery. I got scared. The surgeon said she wanted to take out part of my sigmoid colon and give me a colostomy bag.
Avatar f tn My main symptoms have been itching all over, particularly neck and inner arms, and other soft tissue areas including my ayes, which are itchy and red at all times. Allergies, sunburn, heat bite, dermatitis, etc. have been eliminated. Could it be that these symptoms are caused by the diverticulitis, or by the gallstones? Also, is there a way to heal the gallbladder without surgery? Someone in my family had gallbladder surgery and now suffers of constant diarrhea.
Avatar n tn it is only on my lower left side and is not getting any better. what is this if the dr supposedly says its not diverticulitis.
Avatar f tn But over the last few mths she has lost weight and feels tired and goes to the loo with mucus and small pea sized mucus and this can be many times of the day and night. She also has a sore tongue with that's coated .
Avatar f tn 3months ago I was having abdominal pains and ended up having a ct scan. The scan showed I had diverticulitis. After antibiotics I was feeling better and had a colonoscopy. It showed that I have a few diverticulosis but at least one was infected. A month ago I began to have pain again. Gastroentologist sent me to have another ct and included a rectal ct. They injected dye up my rectum 3times because it kept leaking out. Two days later I was having emergency surgery because my colon perforated.
Avatar f tn My sed rate was 80 but WBC is normal. Scans in March and April showed mild diverticulitis. Is this normal to continue to have to take these anti biotics? It seems to me that they must not be working for my infection. Could I have something else going on in addition to divertivculitis? I am most likely going to pursue surgery very soon, but must clear up this episode before I can have the surgery. Any suggestions or input is greatlyu appreciated.
Avatar n tn CT scan and colonoscopy in August indicated diverticulosis, but not diverticulitis. The GI and internist continue to say it is irritable bowel and not diverticulitis, even though they decline to see me. 4. I am concerned that it could be diverticulitis, and it may rupture. 5. I am really confused regarding the diet. The diet for irritable bowel makes me more constipated, which I understand is more likely to cause diverticulitis.
