Avatar m tn you were given cipro for a cough? cipro has side effects you should contact your doctor since you're experiencing symptoms and they can give you somehting else, you shouldn't continue taking something that you're having a bad reaction to... Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Common side effects of ciprofloxacin are stomach pain, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset and restlessness. Rarely it can cause skin sensitivity to sunlight, rash, breathing difficulty etc. Vaginal discharge with odour and back pain are the manifestations of UTI. Since how long are you using ciprofloxacin? Feel free to ask if you have any more doubts. Take care.
Avatar m tn Both Cipro and Levaquin are drugs of a class known as quinolones. Of the two Cipro has the least side effects. The sore muscles may last for weeks or months or you may feel better in a few days. With that class of drugs there are ocasional reports of permanent tendon damage. This does not mean they should not be used. It is a matter of risk and benefit.
Avatar f tn the ER doc gave me cipro. Wish I would have known then what I know now. Had bad side effects for over a year from it. My belief now is that most UTI's can be cleared up by taking cranberry pills, and flushing out your system with large amounts of fluids. Don't take a drug that is given out for people who have been exposed to anthrax... sigh. Unless you need a drug to stay alive don't take any because our bodies were not made to take them. My thoughts anyway.
Avatar m tn So yes---In fact--since you brought it up--I have a new group called side effects of medications. Feel free to post your side effects there.
Avatar f tn I was given Cipro for possible salmonella, and am concerned about all of the side effects I have been reading about. Is this a safe drug? I woke up with anxiety and some stiffness this morning, and am scared it's going to get worse. Please help.
443434 tn?1255891233 What other kinds of eye problems is it supposed to cause? I took a lot of Cipro, and have a lot of eye problems, but there is no evidence that the two are connected. How did your doctor connect them?Have you looked up the side effects on WEB MD or somewhere?
Avatar n tn I took 1 dose of 500mg Cipro Friday night at 5:30p.m. Immediately felt flushed and red in the face. I continue to have flare ups 3 days later. How long does this take to go away.
Avatar m tn The drug is a class called fluoroquinalones, and the side effects may include anything from aches and pains for months to tendon rupture. If a fluoroquinalone is prescribed Cipro has far fewer side effects.
Avatar f tn Cipro has a lot of side effects. Have you looked them up? I am not saying come off it but what you are experiencing could be from that. It stays in your system long after you take it. Are you still taking pain meds? I can't remember if Cipro causes constipation but pain meds do for sure. Are you taking any stool softeners to help? Ginger or peppermint tea help a lot with bloating as well as a heating blanket. When you mean blocked do you mean constipated blocked?
Avatar f tn After having a burning sensation when I pre and irritation. In my vaginal area inside my urethra, I recently discovered that I have a UTI and was prescribed the drug Bactrim. I am suppose to take it twice a day for 3 days. Anyway, I have a history of being allergic to antibiotics and getting the "rare" side effects. I was reading the side effects of Bactrim and I am horrified and super worried! I don't react very well to antibiotics.

798555 tn?1292787551 Could anyone share any side effects they had and the herxing feel with these? The Dr said they can be tough on some people that was it nauseating , headaches, absolutely no alcohol ect. And what did you do to help cope with any side effects? It would help me to know what might possibly be around the corner for me so I can work thru it. I have to work regardless of how I feel (not an option), so your info will help me prepare getting thru the work day.
Avatar m tn I have taken Flomax for a week, and am very weary of the side effects. It effects my vision - I can feel it in my eyes. It dulls my brain, I can feel it in my head. It caused the ringing in my ears to get worse. I've had minor chest pain for a few days. All of these are on the list of side effects.
Avatar n tn Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bloody or tarry stools; burning, numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness of the arms, hands, legs, or feet; chest pain; dark urine or unusual change in amount of urine; fainting; fever, chills, or unusual cough; hallucinations; inability to move or bear weight on a joint or tendon area; irregular heartbeat; loss of consciousness; moderate to severe sunburn
Avatar m tn t usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
Avatar m tn My experience is anecdotal, but significant. I cannot tolerate Levaquin at all, but take Cipro without any side effects. I know at least four other individuals with the same tolerance for Cipro.
Avatar m tn I also wonder if the Cipro messed me up. The side effects of Floraquinalones can be brutal as far as nerve damage and many other side effects. Plus it's not really ever used to treat STDs so I'm mad that my dr. called that in for me. I took a total of 14 grams of it. He also put my on 1000 mg of Azthromiacin and I got a shot of rocephine. My skin on the glans of my penis are definitely not the same as pre exposure.
700212 tn?1240760820 Hi. I had the same issue with my skin. I couldnt touch the skin on my face throut tx. I was told NOT to sit in sun and honestly from being so weak I dont think I could have anyway. However I did get the sensitivity like you said when I touched by skin..it was very uncomfortable....There really isnt anything you can do about it. I had lots of sx that were just odd like feelings, sensations hot- cold and my face felt like I had a 3rd degree sunburn all the time.
Avatar m tn Yes, the side effects of the antibiotic will linger for a while. But the liver has amazing recuperative abilities, and yours should return to normal in a few months. Just be sure to keep getting the liver function panel blood tests to monitor things. Be well.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed leviquin for bronchitis and sinus infection after a prior antibiotic didn't work. I was also put on a steroid (dextremethisone) something like that. It was a 10 day treatment. The first couple doses made my heart feel like it was coming out of my chest, that passed.
Avatar m tn As a home remedy, after washing (without soap) and drying gently, you can apply natural set yogurt to the penis. You will get no side effects from doing this and you can do this as long as is required.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you had some kind of infection going on...and since you had an ablation in your uterus AND a D&C, that is most likely the source of the infection. From what you describe, I'd be more inclined to think your bad symptoms came more from your beingj so ill and not the Doxycycline...thought any medication you take can give you side effects...and yes, even the Cipro. If it was me...I'd take that Cipro just like it was ordered and til it was gone...or you can end up in ICU.
Avatar m tn That is an excellent question, since both antibiotics are fluoroquinalones, the same class of drugs. It is not a good idea to take a "lot of these drugs". Tendon rupture and horrible aches and pains for months can result. People have different genetic tolerances. I can tolerate Cipro, for example, however Levofloxacin caused me terrible problems for almost eight months. Getting back to your question the answer is "probably", but not absolutely positively. .
