Common Questions and Answers about Cipro side effects duration

cipro

Avatar n tn However, the side effects of gonorrhea (pain while urinating, and yellow puss disharge) have only gotten worse. There is more discharge, and the pain has become excrusciating to the point that tears are shed. I want to get rid of this soon, or atleast the pain and drainage. I am afraid that I may have a Cipro-resistant strain seeing that nothing has improved and has only worsen ten-fold. How long should I wait to pursue other medication such as Rocephin?
Avatar m tn Both Cipro and Levaquin are drugs of a class known as quinolones. Of the two Cipro has the least side effects. The sore muscles may last for weeks or months or you may feel better in a few days. With that class of drugs there are ocasional reports of permanent tendon damage. This does not mean they should not be used. It is a matter of risk and benefit.
Avatar f tn the ER doc gave me cipro. Wish I would have known then what I know now. Had bad side effects for over a year from it. My belief now is that most UTI's can be cleared up by taking cranberry pills, and flushing out your system with large amounts of fluids. Don't take a drug that is given out for people who have been exposed to anthrax... sigh. Unless you need a drug to stay alive don't take any because our bodies were not made to take them. My thoughts anyway.
Avatar n tn At one point I was on it for months and believe I became immune to it. The side effects are also terrible. Tried Prosta Q supplement and it was very hard on my system so I stopped. Any suggestions. This has become very troubling and the urologist is of little help.
443434 tn?1255891233 The manifestations of these symptoms depends on the amount of cipro taken and the duration of treatment. Generally, the ocular side effects are not all that common. There is NO mention of cipro causing floaters. Cipro ophthalmic can cause a burning/stinging sensation when instilling, as well as a bad taste in your mouth. Also, in rare cases it can cause blurred vision, eye pain, and increased sensitivity to light. Again, there is no known relationship between cipro ophthalmic and floaters.
Avatar m tn So yes---In fact--since you brought it up--I have a new group called side effects of medications. Feel free to post your side effects there.
Avatar f tn I was given Cipro for possible salmonella, and am concerned about all of the side effects I have been reading about. Is this a safe drug? I woke up with anxiety and some stiffness this morning, and am scared it's going to get worse. Please help.
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Common side effects of ciprofloxacin are stomach pain, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset and restlessness. Rarely it can cause skin sensitivity to sunlight, rash, breathing difficulty etc. Vaginal discharge with odour and back pain are the manifestations of UTI. Since how long are you using ciprofloxacin? Feel free to ask if you have any more doubts. Take care.
Avatar m tn Left eyelid started twitching few days after Cipro treatment. Gradually, I started having tingling in my legs. Also had three panic attacks. diagnosed with borderline hyperthyroidism (TSH 0.32 and FT4 24) and all symptoms were attributed to thyroid problem. The thyroid is back to normal now without any thyroid meds. In the past 8 months, I have been on Wellbutrin (300 mg per day for 3 weeks), Lorazepam (3 mg per day for 3 months) and propranolol (40 mg per day irregularly for 1 month).
Avatar m tn I know this is more common with the oral/IV Cipro but I may have used the CiproDex for longer duration that was prescribed. I really believe that I was misdiagnosed with anxiety and hyperthyroidism and a borderline hyperthyroid threw everyone off. Can I have Cipro-induced sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy? If yes, with the current symptoms and their long duration, is my neuropathy reversible? Is there anything that I can do?
Avatar f tn Cipro has a lot of side effects. Have you looked them up? I am not saying come off it but what you are experiencing could be from that. It stays in your system long after you take it. Are you still taking pain meds? I can't remember if Cipro causes constipation but pain meds do for sure. Are you taking any stool softeners to help? Ginger or peppermint tea help a lot with bloating as well as a heating blanket. When you mean blocked do you mean constipated blocked?

798555 tn?1292787551 Could anyone share any side effects they had and the herxing feel with these? The Dr said they can be tough on some people that was it nauseating , headaches, absolutely no alcohol ect. And what did you do to help cope with any side effects? It would help me to know what might possibly be around the corner for me so I can work thru it. I have to work regardless of how I feel (not an option), so your info will help me prepare getting thru the work day.
Avatar m tn I have taken Flomax for a week, and am very weary of the side effects. It effects my vision - I can feel it in my eyes. It dulls my brain, I can feel it in my head. It caused the ringing in my ears to get worse. I've had minor chest pain for a few days. All of these are on the list of side effects.
Avatar m tn t usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
Avatar m tn My experience is anecdotal, but significant. I cannot tolerate Levaquin at all, but take Cipro without any side effects. I know at least four other individuals with the same tolerance for Cipro.
Avatar m tn you were given cipro for a cough? cipro has side effects you should contact your doctor since you're experiencing symptoms and they can give you somehting else, you shouldn't continue taking something that you're having a bad reaction to... I'm not a doctor and you should consult yours for further direction. Also, this is an STD forum are you concerned about an STD??
Avatar f tn I was prescribed leviquin for bronchitis and sinus infection after a prior antibiotic didn't work. I was also put on a steroid (dextremethisone) something like that. It was a 10 day treatment. The first couple doses made my heart feel like it was coming out of my chest, that passed.
Avatar m tn My wife is trying to come off of Risperdal on account we would like to try to conceive . how long until the medicine is out of her system / when the side effects of coming off the drug will subside. She has been not taking for 6 days with side effects such as: Extreme nausea Sweats Continuous headache Irritability ,etc Any help on the subject?
Avatar n tn It sounds like you had some kind of infection going on...and since you had an ablation in your uterus AND a D&C, that is most likely the source of the infection. From what you describe, I'd be more inclined to think your bad symptoms came more from your beingj so ill and not the Doxycycline...thought any medication you take can give you side effects...and yes, even the Cipro. If it was me...I'd take that Cipro just like it was ordered and til it was gone...or you can end up in ICU.
Avatar m tn Seems like I am having very similar experiences with my beagle, Daisy. It is so heartbreaking to see her like this. Wishing these side effects would subside. She was up walking all night last night & gets into corners & can't get out. Next week she will be on PB for one month. Will be calling vet soon to get her levels tested to see what to do next. I just thought after this long, the side effects would have leveled out by now.
Avatar m tn That is an excellent question, since both antibiotics are fluoroquinalones, the same class of drugs. It is not a good idea to take a "lot of these drugs". Tendon rupture and horrible aches and pains for months can result. People have different genetic tolerances. I can tolerate Cipro, for example, however Levofloxacin caused me terrible problems for almost eight months. Getting back to your question the answer is "probably", but not absolutely positively. .
