Cipro gram negative

Common Questions and Answers about Cipro gram negative

cipro

Avatar m tn Burning, eurethral discomfort, + constant need to urinate begin at 4 days (no significant discharge). Took 1 gram cipro at 5 days. Early STD panel (labcorp) at 6 days (results came back all negative several days later for common bacteriall stds and hsv IgG and IgM, but antiobotics were started before test). Received 1 gram azithromicin at 6 days, followed by another gram six hours later. 250 mg rocephin shot at 7 days, followed by 3 days of Cipro.
Avatar n tn This is inaccurate/incorrect information. Doxy is widely used for gono. Cipro has been shown to have some resistance with a rare occurrence of a super infection so the CDC no longer recommends that as first line. But your drugs given are the first line agents often used with doxy a substitute for azithromycin. The reason I asked about Cipro is because it is used for other things your doctor may have suspected to actually be causing your continuing symptoms.
Avatar n tn It works by making it impossible for the bacteria that are causing the infection to transcribe DNA. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic, effective against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Make sure your vet knows about its use before giving it to your dog because several dangerous potential adverse reactions can occur. Cipro has the potential to cause tendon rupture and in animals under 2 years of age it also has a detrimental effect on the bones and joints.
Avatar f tn Fully agree with Vance. I have personally got a false positive for Gonno. I knew it wasn't possible and demanded my samples were retested. Negative as I thought. A gam stain btw will only indicate whether it's a gram positive or negative strain of bacteria - not the type for the want of a more complicated explanation. Need pcr for that and as I've just told you, that can even be non specific.......
1090984 tn?1463769850 Are you better yet? I have unfortunately caught this same gram negative bacteria and i will not go away. I am scared also. I have been on bactrim DS for over 5 months. Now on Cipro, Using Clorox directly on skin but burns like you know what.
Avatar n tn That said, my anxiety definitely got the best of me and I took 1 gram of cipro yesterday and 1 gram of azithromycin this morning. What are the chances that I could have contracted anything and if so, would the medicines I have taken be effective to treat such condition(s). Also, would the medicines give me a false negative on an std test if I had contracted anything. A bit confused and need your advice as I do not want to potnetially give anything to my wife.
Avatar n tn Hello Docs: Thanks for the service you provide. Long story short, I received unprotected oral sex 17 days ago. I experienced urethral discomfort from the time it occurred. I went to a minor medical clinic 10 days following the incident. They ran chlamydia, gonorrhea, and another urine screening (don't really know what it was) that all came back negative. They also did a blood test for HSV which came back negative. I called my regular doctor and have an appt in 10 days.
Avatar m tn My urologist prescribed 2x Ceftriaxone 1 Gram IV (one every week for two weeks)for prostatitis along with 2 weeks of cipro. Is this IV treatment also effective for Gonorrhea in case I had it ?
Avatar n tn In the meatal area there was a clear but not discharging secretions. I self treated with 1 gram of Cipro and 1 gram of Azithromycin, followed by 250mg per day of Azithromycin for 2 days. However, symptoms of pharyngitis & urethritis continued. I went to my doctor about a week after having taken the Azithromycin & Cipro.
Avatar f tn I can't believe that I found this forum. Like everyone else (it seems), my doctors know nothing about this condition and are unsure how to treat it. I've been suffering for two months and in that time I've had a mammogram, ultrasound, core biopsy, 6 rounds of antibiotics, and two abscesses drained and packed. I am very tired of this (though I know most people have suffered longer - I'm just not very patient).
Avatar m tn In the case of tb, for example, there are 16,000 varients of the bacteria. There are bacteria that are anaerobic and those that are not. There gram positive and gram negative. As for the side effects file a drug reaction form at the FDA site. There are many different reactions to what are similar antibiotics. For example many people tolerate Cipro, a fluoroqinalone and cannot tolerate Levaquin, a similarly structed antibiotic.

Avatar m tn ve taken Zithromax (1 gram), Cipro (500mg pill), Doxy (100mg 2 pills a day for 10 days) and Nitrofur (100mg tablet, 2 pills a day for 7 days). I still have my symptoms so the doctor prescribed me another 10 days of Doxy.... what could be going on here? Could I have Herpes? I haven't had any outbreaks or open sores or anything, but none of the recommended medications are curing NGU, or the UTI?
Avatar m tn After infection from unprotected sex, doctor gave me cipro for 7 days then zinnat 500 for days. Avatar m tn right after it happened I had one course of a z-pack and now I am on Cipro..both for sinus infection. Is there anyway I could have caught an STD also..I have also had a constant tingling in my penis...it is more just discomfort when urinating or ejaculating. HELP!!!
Avatar f tn Are you saying the swab test was negative or an antibody test was negative?
Avatar m tn Would being on Cipro cause a false negative for G/C on Gen-probe aptima urine test? Advised nurse at PP (prior to test) and said that it would not, and that my results are accurate... But I am still concerned.
Avatar n tn She said they tested on the spot in a lab on the premises, and gave her cipro. I assume that since there was a lab, and they diagnosed UTI, and prescribed cipro, that they identified a known-common UTI bug. My ongoing variably sensitive, and variably red meatus situation is completely unaffected by cipro. If cipro works for her, I'm going to assume whatever she has, didn't come from me. Again, no response solicited unless unless you feel it's neccessary. With regards...
Avatar m tn The standard treatment is either a single 1.0 gram dose of azithromycin (which is long-acting and actually gives over a week of effective treatment); or doxycycline, usually 100 mg twice daily for a week. These cover chlamydia as well as nonchlamydial NGU." Dr. HHH And you should already know that since you posted in that thread.
Avatar n tn cipro for 5 days amoxil and calvulenic acid azithromycin cevixime and doxyciclin cefuroxime tabs ceftriaxone and azithromycin and later iused tinidazole 2 gram single dose my symptoms completely improved but 2 days later recure which is burning following mict and double straem urine plz help me
Avatar f tn Gram-negative simply meens that the bacteria did not stain with negative dye, negative bacteria is harder to kill with antibiotics than positive. Don't worry it is a good thing. I am a nurse.
