If so then the virudans strep could also be the problem and viridans strep are more resistant to antibiotics. But I would check with your doctor on this and see if the Strep group B and Viridans strep were sensitive to Levoflaxacin. If they are it may be a suitable substitute. Why do you want to stop the Ciprofloxacin or switch? Do you have another problem you want to treat in addition to the urinary tract infection and prostate or is the cipro not working?

I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.
From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
Hi wondering if anyone can help me please. A month ago I started to have cramping pain in lower abdomen and frequent urination . My doctor put me on macrobid but that didn't help . Then put me on cipro which didn't help either . The pain would come and go with lower back pain as well and getting up to urinate and bladder pressure all the time . After that my urine culture came back positive with group b strep . I'm not pregnant . My doctor gave me 7 days of penicillin .
I was just diagnosed with vaginal strep (I think A) and it seems I have little yellowish /brownish scabs on my anus, is this normal? That is where most of the pain from this infection is coming from.
It burns and sort of itches. The itching just started today and I've had this for 4 weeks. Most of the 4 weeks it wasn't diagnosed.
I took Bactrim but that didn't work so I'm on cipro now. Is cipro a good antibiotic for this?

So, earlier this week I posted about the risk of oral sex and HIV with a mouth sore and was pleased to find out that my risk was like nothing... However, I have since developed a VERY sore throat and fever with white spots, puss, sore neck, and sore ears. My new concern is over oral gonorrhea. I went to the doctor for a culture, but she said it will take a few days, so in the mean time, I thought maybe I could post here and get some opinions/feedback. Many thanks.
The doctor told me it was probably strep throat and prescribed me penecillin. My throat got better. Only 12 days off of the antibiotics, and I decided to get tested for a STD as the symptoms of painful urination and an itch in my penis worsened and became much more bothersome. Now I'm wondering, could this strep throat really have been gonorrhea or another STD.
I had a strep B infection and was cured with 4 injections of Penicillin G over the course of a month. The shots were big and painful (in the rear), but well worth it. My doctor was quite wise in doing things right and tested my prostate fluid first to determine the pathogen and its sensitivity to antibiotics. Your doc gave you augmentin because strep B is susceptible to that form of penicillin, but not in the prostate because it doesn't get inside in high enough quantity.
However, last week of Februaru I developed white spots at the back of my throat. My doctor said it was strep and gave me Augmentin which reduced the appearance somewhat but not completely. I got the covid vaccine astrazeneca, got a fever and the white spots increased once again (even worse). My doctor gave me Augmentin again for a week along with flucanazole. I’m at the end of the course of treatment. The white spots have decreased but some are still there.
Received unprotected oral sex again and same problems started all over again. Given azithro, cipro, and levaquin again and nothing cleared symptoms up. I'm a 54 year old male and have had similar experience with both doxycycline and cipro. The first time I had a prostititis attack cipro didn't work and doxycycline helped me after 2 full weeks. 18 months later I'm having another bout, this time its the other way around - Doxycycline didn't help and cipro seems to be working after 2 weeks.
Are you taking Flomax too? My prostititis problems seemed to start when I went on Flomax.
Every test indicated there was blood in my urine and positive nitrates and we proceeded with normal UTI treatment (btw I visited a doctor 7 days after initial contact). I was on 10 days of cipro, did not really feel a difference. today is day 36 on cipro and I think I am going to stop taking the rest. Burning has gone down, but urethra feels off. Today marks 6 weeks after having sex with this person.

So, November 7th I had unprotected oral sex and protected anal sex, well, he went in once without a condom and then put a condom on. Anyways, 2 weeks later, I had white spots on my tonsils and my tonsils were inflamed. Went to the hospital where she said it was strep but it wasn't when the culture came back, it was just normal. However, he gave me a shot the week after an antibiotic and a steroid which took the white spots off my tonsils.
2 days later the left side started hurting, and I could feel a lump above the testicle. I saw another Dr. and he did a urine test which turned up no UTI and said I had epidymitis and gave me Levofloxacin to go along with Doxycicline that an American Dr. said might help over the phone. 14 days later I still have the lump and I have finished the antibiotics.
Last night I saw yet another Dr.
In the meatal area there was a clear but not discharging secretions. I self treated with 1 gram of Cipro and 1 gram of Azithromycin, followed by 250mg per day of Azithromycin for 2 days. However, symptoms of pharyngitis & urethritis continued. I went to my doctor about a week after having taken the Azithromycin & Cipro.
You are lucky fi you can take antibiotics at all. Antibiotics (almost of them) close my throat. Antibiotic treatment for something as simple as strep throat could kill me. I've had several close calls. I'd love to be able to just take an antibiotic when I have something bacterial, or when I need surgery. Life is a lot more risky for me.
I have taken Cipro for Urniary Tract Infections on and off for about 7 years. Last year the frequency of infections was about every 2 months. This winter I have had less than a month between symptoms. My doctor gave me a prescription for Macrobid in case I need it. I have taken it for the first time the past three days and the infection is still quite apparent especially during the night when I can feel the internal discomfort.
t think it matters, but I have had a sore throat the last three days and I just tested positive for strep throat a few hours ago.] I have also have little rash dots on my abdomen and a few other spots on my body, but I think that it's related to the strep.
I was also tested for HIV antibodies 12 days after to establish a baseline and again at 31 days; both negative.
I have a purple bruise line on the glans, but no bumps, blisters, or ulcers on or in my genital area.
Be careful with using Cipro and other antibiotics and use it only as directed by your Physician. I was misdiagnoised with a urinary tract infection that time showed it wasn't and was prescribed Cipro. This drug and others in its class have a nasty side effect - mine was labral tears of the right shoulder and right hip.
My Mother suffers from sinus infections and she has found that her Chiropractor successfully treats her by draining her sinus.
Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.
