Avatar f tn I was on celexa for 8.5 yrs.. Started on 20mgs n my dr raised it to 40mgs after 4 yrs cuz it just didn't seem to be working.. After another 4.5 yrs it stopped working so she put me on cipralex... Been on cipralex for about almost 2 yrs now, and I don't find it worked as well as the celexa when it was working... I'm guessing it works different for everybody.. Do u still suffer panic n depression a lot??
3159640 tn?1430907300 I tried Zoloft and Celexa and found that in the end cipralex is currently the best option for me. Like JG said, it is trial and error. If you find one is not working for you, talk to you dr and try another.
1267205 tn?1321117128 They put me on Zoloft for anxiety but that could send you into mania since you experience mania and I don't. There's also benzodiazepines but they are usually used as a last resort. Antipsychotics can be used for anxiety but I wouldn't recommend that because of running the risk for tardive dyskinesia. I would much rather have my severe anxiety than TD.
Avatar f tn Yea I'm on 5mg of cipralex... I'm not sure i know most of my anxiety is health related. It only started to get bad around may I'm a 22 yo female.
Avatar f tn Everybody tells that even after upping a dose, you have to wait about 4-6 weeks bit the doctor said that with new med like cipralex you know how you are going to feel after almost two weeks... ????? Is there any experience where people took a med that worked just okay the first time but worked better the second time around? Could that be possible? I just hope it will cause I am a little discourage!
Avatar n tn First I took Lexapro then Cymbalta and now Zoloft. My doctor keeps changing my meds because of the weight gain and every change only makes it worse. This latest change has caused me to gain about a pound a day. Since Thursday I have gained three more pounds and have been eating next to nothing. I finally convinced my doctor that I am not pigging out all day and she ha ordered a thyroid test. I'm so scared that I'm going to die from this, it's uncontrollable.
Avatar m tn I saw my doctor today and told him for the first time that I am done with the Oxy's and told him how and why I did it. He was a little concerned for me about quitting so fast without talking to him first and also for the fact that he thinks that I should accept pain meds as a way to have some quality of life because of my spine disorder.
Avatar f tn Hi! I was on zoloft for the past 3 yrs and in the beginning of january it was up to 150 mg but after 5 weeks, i felt awful! More cryings, anxiety, and vertigos, etc. Also, twice since january, my bp was high 128/90 wich has never been my case before. 3 days ago, my doc switch me to brintelix 10 mg without tapering of the zoloft. First morning, I had little nausea for an hour but didint have really side effects. But I have extrasystoles everyday since.
Avatar f tn I am taking 10mg of Cipralex (Lexapro, stateside) every day. I called the doc as soon as I got a positive pregnancy test and he advised that I stay on. I start my 2nd trimester today. Trimester 1 was very tough so I'm glad I maintained my dose so I didn't have to deal with the pregnancy and coming off the meds. I had low depression points throughout the trimester. It has improved a bit as my hormones seem to be leveling out a bit.
Avatar f tn t know what to do about it anymore. I feel hopeless!!. I have tried cipralex, Zyprexa, Effexor, abilify, Remeron, Xanax, lexotanil, faverin, zoloft, anafranil, resperidone, rivotril, and 2 other meds that I don't remember.
Avatar f tn i take clonazepam which is the only thing that works, but every couple of years i hit a wall and need to up the antidepressant. been on zoloft, paxil, celexa, effexor, lyrica, cipralex(lexapro), maoi's, etc..wondering if pristiq works, or maybe cymbalta? only snri i was on was effexor, which didn't do much but also had a brutal psych. any info would be helpful. thank you.
Avatar f tn Well, one of the most serious warnings about starting an antidepressant is they can cause aggressive and suicidal thoughts. I doubt the clonazepam will stop working, but what it's doing is suppressing your anxiety about the thoughts, not the thoughts themselves, most likely, so to me at least it seems an odd choice to deal with that particular problem.
Avatar m tn Yet its cousin cipralex/lexapro/escitalopram did wonders for me as far as depression and anxiety are concerned. But of course all the benefits soon disappear and the usual mania comes.
Avatar m tn my dizzy attacks with sudden movements, i sit i feel dizzy i stand i feel dizzy, i move my head i feel dizzy, i went to my psychiatric again and she prescribed me Zoloft 50mg, my vibrating feeling started after taking zoloft 50mg for a week then i stopped, i didn't went back to my Dr again yet. i feel so sad all the times about my situation, i have weak eyesight, i use computer a lot, i use headphones a lot, i sleep late in nights, i smoke.
Avatar f tn What would be your suggestion for how to switch from the Paxil to cipralex? I know that 20mg Paxil equals about 10mg cipralex. What rate would you decrease + increase? Perhaps you could give me a rough outline of how to make the transition? Thanks so much!
1001742 tn?1252685847 Cipralex is an anti-anxiety pill. Escitalopram belongs to the group of medications called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). It works by increasing levels of a neurotransmitter called serotonin in the brain. Increased serotonin levels can lead to an improved mood.
Avatar f tn ve tried prozac, lexapro, wellbutrin... the next on the list to try is zoloft) and nothing has helped. Prozac helped some, but I was sleeping all the time. I am going for a second opinion (different PCP now, and a new psychiatrist/therapist combo) and another nerve conduction study and round of bloodtests... And am completely frustrated at the lack of answers.
Avatar n tn Also i am taking the anti-depressant cipralex (escitalopram) do you know if it is ok to take them together. Please reply if you know anything i am rather desperate to start taking reductil so i can lose weight and start living again!
Avatar f tn I've been on cipralex 20mg for about 1.5 yrs, before that was on 40mgs of celexa.. I'm 37, about 190lbs 5'7".. Anyway my question is, my dr prescribed me ability 2.5mgs that I'm scared to start because of all the scary side effects I've read :-(. I guess I should also let u no that I suffer from severe anxiety/ severe depression disorder.
Avatar f tn Hi all I'm on day 4 taking cipralex after switching from escitalopram my question to you all is my anxiety is getting worse by the day and having to take a zopiclone to sleep at night will my anxiety slowly fade in time as I take the cipralex daily no other side effects to report just the heightened anxiety any info on this would be great Thanks Jessica
Avatar n tn I don't know how you were told to take the cipralex, but it is at least probably best to take it in the morning. It's not one you're supposed to get tired of. You might want to read the leaflet of it too. That's always a good idea. I agree on the thyroid test suggested above. That's one of the first things that should be checked, even if not all depression has to be genetic or "run in the family". Have you read here in MedHelp about Depression?
