Cipralex not working

Common Questions and Answers about Cipralex not working

ciprodex

Avatar f tn First of all may I ask why you switched from celexa to cipralex? I know I have asked my Dr about abilify and she will not prescribe it for me, not sure why but she does say there are better drugs out there... I know every Doc is different as is every person. Sorry, I know this does not answer your question..
Avatar f tn Hi all I'm on day 4 taking cipralex after switching from escitalopram my question to you all is my anxiety is getting worse by the day and having to take a zopiclone to sleep at night will my anxiety slowly fade in time as I take the cipralex daily no other side effects to report just the heightened anxiety any info on this would be great Thanks Jessica
Avatar n tn I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time adjusting to this medication. In which case you should see your doctor again and discuss a possible switch to something else with less side effects for you. Upping the dose while you are still experencing so many nasty side effects simply does seem like "good medicine" to me, but I am not a doctor and it's not my place to second guess him, but I would certainly be asking some serious quesitons while I was there.
Avatar f tn I wasnt happy, and it felt as if my neurons and neurotransmitters were all tangled up and not working. Lightheadedness, (no headaches though), and total loss of emotions. My detachment was crazy, didnt know why I was doing what I was doing and didnt feel any drive or motivation. Lost a bit of sex drive also. After 2 years, my foggy head finally made me go to a psychiatrist, who has prescribed me cipralex(10mg). she said I was undergoing severe depression. Have taken it 1.
Avatar m tn I took the paroxetine that did well for a while then the cipralex that does not do anything to me is so confused. After that I did insomnia, the doctor giving me the zolpidem which obviously and that made me sick I am very scared.
Avatar m tn I have been on cipralex for about 3 years now and have been symptom free and side effect free. I made the decision to begin slowly weaning. I dropped from 20mg to 15mg about 3 weeks ago. My questions is: Has anyone else experienced insomnia as a withdrawl side effect? I haven't been able to sleep for the past 4 nights and I'm not sure if it could be due to this decrease. Aside from the lack of sleep, I feel great! Any information/suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn How long have you been on cipralex?? I think you need to give it time if you just started, more times than not those side effects such as headache will eventually subside. I wish you luck, is it working for you otherwise? It takes a month sometimes two to get the full therapeutic effect so give it a chance! Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn I was on celexa for 8.5 yrs.. Started on 20mgs n my dr raised it to 40mgs after 4 yrs cuz it just didn't seem to be working.. After another 4.5 yrs it stopped working so she put me on cipralex... Been on cipralex for about almost 2 yrs now, and I don't find it worked as well as the celexa when it was working... I'm guessing it works different for everybody.. Do u still suffer panic n depression a lot??
Avatar m tn There is no role of Cipralex, unless you are going through depression and anxiety which you can not manage on your own. Please let me know if you have any more queries.
Avatar n tn Sorry to hear about your situation. Cipralex (Lexapro) is an SSRI and SSRI's take weeks in your system before they start producing any therapeutic effect. In fact they can make your anxiety worse in the beginning as you ramp up on them. It took me 4 weeks on Cipralex before I started feeling like things. So if you're only on it 2 weeks maybe give it a bit more time.
Avatar f tn I tried Cipralex too but knew immediately that it was not going to help me at all. The prescription was half a tablet for a week, then increase. I never made it for more than 4 days on it because my reactions were worse than the benefit would ever be. The first two weeks might be all you need, but if it doesn't work, you might need to ask for something else. Maybe the cipralex works for you still?
Avatar f tn Dear Doctor, Am currently taking 20 mg Prozac in the morning (to replace the Cipralex I've been on for at least 5 years) for depression and anxiety (P.T.S.D. & O.C.D./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) ( Am slowly weaning from Cipralex/Escitalopram as I gained weight on it and other side effects) Am down to 5 mg of Cipralex at nite along with 50 mg SEROQUELXR for sleep (have been taking the SeroquelXR 50mg for approx.
Avatar m tn Sometimes, after the 4-6 weeks are up, people require a dosage increase also, as the med may be working, but not to the desired level yet. So, as you can see, sometimes it takes a couple of months to get to where you would like to be. Try to think positively (I know, easier said than done). You're feeling lousy, and want to feel better NOW. I know, I remember feeling like that, and remember thinking 4 weeks seemed like a lfetime, but it isn't.
Avatar m tn Hello to everyone,i'm on cipralex several years diagnose with Ocd and anxiety disorder my dosage was initially 30mg now dicrease dosage 20mg,but these days are very bad i have again panic attacks every morning when wake up and i.m afraid that have some heart issue ,cause heart goes like crazy and start to shake and feel i will die ,and for this i take some xanax that distress me but i'm afraid if this happens again...
574118 tn?1305135284 ezz, are you taking all these meds under the care of a pdoc? I notice that you are on 2 anti psychotics, why? Why risperdone and stelazin? Are you adding and subtracting meds with your pdoc approval or on your own? Xanax can be very helpful with panic as I have this problem and take it too but you have to be careful with it unless you want to become addicted to it. Have you looked up cipralex and it's side effects? I am not familiar with this drug.

Avatar f tn What would be your suggestion for how to switch from the Paxil to cipralex? I know that 20mg Paxil equals about 10mg cipralex. What rate would you decrease + increase? Perhaps you could give me a rough outline of how to make the transition? Thanks so much!
1001742 tn?1252685847 That's not the same drug, citalopram is celexa, not cipralex.
Avatar f tn Everybody tells that even after upping a dose, you have to wait about 4-6 weeks bit the doctor said that with new med like cipralex you know how you are going to feel after almost two weeks... ????? Is there any experience where people took a med that worked just okay the first time but worked better the second time around? Could that be possible? I just hope it will cause I am a little discourage!
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am new to this forum and I think you guys can help me more than my doc seems to be helping. I am in University and I have had anxiety for over 10 years but have never received help for it. Trouble sleeping, breathing, concentrating and I have negative thoughts which my doctor attributes to anxiety. Firstly, I recognize all of my symptoms as anxiety except for negative thoughts.
Avatar n tn I don't know how you were told to take the cipralex, but it is at least probably best to take it in the morning. It's not one you're supposed to get tired of. You might want to read the leaflet of it too. That's always a good idea. I agree on the thyroid test suggested above. That's one of the first things that should be checked, even if not all depression has to be genetic or "run in the family". Have you read here in MedHelp about Depression?
Avatar n tn I am sure this is directly due to cipralex even though the side effect is not listed as a common side effect of taking cipralex.
Avatar f tn It sounds to me as if you are just hoping for a simple answer, but you don't have a clear diagnosis and therefore it would be premature to look for a medication. One way to sort this out is to go off of all medications and see what happens , and then make a clear diagnosis before you start treatment...ask your doctor about that approach.
