I suffer from depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), with anxiety and panic attacks for two years. I suppose depression arised from the fact that both my daughters were forced to immigrate because of the economic crisis of my homeland. Anyway, i tried Cipralex, Cymbalta, Seroxat, Effexor even and the combo Effexor with Remeron (California rocket fuel) but without great results. In fact, some of these meds, made me worse. Only Xanax relieves me.

Cipralex is an anti-anxiety pill. Escitalopram belongs to the group of medications called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). It works by increasing levels of a neurotransmitter called serotonin in the brain. Increased serotonin levels can lead to an improved mood.

Hi - I have anxiety(GAD) and panic attacks - and after a panic attack - small or large, I get what I call the panic attack hangover. I am jittery, out of sorts, can't sit still but can't move around. I can't focus on anything, I lose my appetite and can usually only tolerate water. This lasts for days - like 5 or 6. Any suggestions? I am on Cipralex 20mg/day.

hi i was diagnosed with GAD and panick attacks over a year ago,but recently ive no energy cant be bothered to do anything anymore not even play with the kids which worrys me.im always tired even thou i do sleep at night i find everything dull.ive been on 2mg diazepam over a yr and have een prescribed cipralex 5mg an antidepressant but im so terrified incase they make me worse or i have a fit woith them.please someone help me on this.am i depressed?will this medication help me?

and if so when do I expect for this increased anxiety to go away ? And did anyone else in here take cipralex for GAD, SAD and PD ? and if so would you be kind enough to tell me if it has helped with these disorders or not ? And when do you start feeling better in general ?

ive been put on cipralex 5mg by my doctor for anxiety. i started wit half tablet (2.5mg) for two weeks and started takin full tablet about a week ago. but for past two mornings hav been waking up with nausea and become very drowsy late afternoon. is it normal for side effects to manifest a full week after takin 5mg tablet?

Everybody tells that even after upping a dose, you have to wait about 4-6 weeks bit the doctor said that with new med like cipralex you know how you are going to feel after almost two weeks... ????? Is there any experience where people took a med that worked just okay the first time but worked better the second time around? Could that be possible? I just hope it will cause I am a little discourage!

Hi I've been diagnosed with GAD, my doctor put me on celexa and metoprolol 25 mg both once a day, after the meds started working I felt great and stopped taking them, I did well for 8 months and all of the sudden I have feelings as if I'm going to hallucinate or I'm going to trip on lsd! Everything just seems off, has anyone else dealt with this ?! Please help it's driving me insane!

Over the last month I have had severe anxiety and would like advice from anyone who can try to help or relate. My background story is in my previous post. To sum things up after a panic attack 3 weeks ago my anxiety reached an all new high after being 90% healed from a hell of a year.

What would be your suggestion for how to switch from the Paxil to cipralex? I know that 20mg Paxil equals about 10mg cipralex. What rate would you decrease + increase? Perhaps you could give me a rough outline of how to make the transition? Thanks so much!

I've been on cipralex 20mg for about 1.5 yrs, before that was on 40mgs of celexa.. I'm 37, about 190lbs 5'7".. Anyway my question is, my dr prescribed me ability 2.5mgs that I'm scared to start because of all the scary side effects I've read :-(. I guess I should also let u no that I suffer from severe anxiety/ severe depression disorder.

Hi all I'm on day 4 taking cipralex after switching from escitalopram my question to you all is my anxiety is getting worse by the day and having to take a zopiclone to sleep at night will my anxiety slowly fade in time as I take the cipralex daily no other side effects to report just the heightened anxiety any info on this would be great Thanks Jessica

I don't know how you were told to take the cipralex, but it is at least probably best to take it in the morning. It's not one you're supposed to get tired of. You might want to read the leaflet of it too. That's always a good idea. I agree on the thyroid test suggested above. That's one of the first things that should be checked, even if not all depression has to be genetic or "run in the family". Have you read here in MedHelp about Depression?

I took the paroxetine that did well for a while then the cipralex that does not do anything to me is so confused.After that I did insomnia, the doctor giving me the zolpidem which obviously and that made me sick I am very scared.

iv been on cipralex 5mg for 10 days now 10mg for 13 days i am feeling weak nautious burning sensation and pressure in the the head not feeling my self feeling deattattched from my body . it is unbear able some times a feeling of loosing control alot of tention grinding my teeth ringing in the ears and head my doc told me to up my dose to cipralex 20mg but i am afraid it will make it worse. and the side affects will be a big problem.

I feel aweful - very dizzy, confused, heavyness over eyes, bad eyesight, sensitive hearing. Actually many of these symptoms I had before starting Cipralex - my doctor thought Cipralex would help. I also have a history of complicated migraine, I have not taken Sibelium since December 2008. I am wondering if maybe the symptoms I am experiencing are migraine related - and therefore Cipralex is not the answer. Should I be restarted on Sibelium?

i went on cipralex august 2007, and i just went off them 9 days ago, i gained 55 pounds, i was sleeping all the time, didnt have much energy. they helped my panic attacks. now that im off of them im super dizzy ive lost 5 pounds in 9 days, i dont crave bad foods anymore, but i cry a lot, just wondering if it normal to feel so dizzy? and how long does it last for?
