Chantix withdrawal symptoms

Common Questions and Answers about Chantix withdrawal symptoms

chantix

Avatar f tn If you’ve recently stopped taking this drug, you may experience Chantix withdrawal symptoms – some of which may be difficult to bear. During this time you may be unsure whether you’re experiencing symptoms of discontinuation or lingering side effects from the drug remaining in your system. To determine how long Chantix stays in your system, it is necessary to know its elimination half-life.
Avatar f tn Hi and congratulations on your quit! I didn't use Chantix, but another member here who will be along, did use it so might be able to give better advice. I've read many testimonies of people who did have side effects and I would have to say it's *probably* the Chantix but a little early to know for sure since everyone's quit symptoms are different and this could just be Your quit symptom. A headache is not uncommon when quitting smoking.
Avatar f tn So your on both suboxone and chantix? Do you feel wierd or anything? Ive heard things about chantix like it causes nightmares and suicidle thoughts. Im kind of scared. Do you really feel good? How long have you been on suboxone?
Avatar f tn But I still am in trouble after stopping Chantix 7 weeks ago. Pretty nuts, a change from smoking 40 years, Effexor, Chantix, and Prozac. Should I quit every drug and start over?
Avatar f tn Yes Chantix can sometimes worsen symptoms of bipolar. I know Zyban is another smoking cessation aide but that is another name for the anti-depressent Wellbutrin and an anti-depressent alone in bipolar can often worsen mania. Those are the two that are clinically approved and in standard use. Others are in experimental use.
1134609 tn?1269272200 Chantix had been working as far as my not having severe cravings to smoke, so I dosed down and also started a slow wean to avoid the horror of Chantix wihdrawal as well as the nicotine withdrawal. Chantix did nothing to relieve physical symptoms. Then the started and then depression when I started to wean off and now for the last two days, I am cycling again just like I did 9 years ago. I am so upset and miserable.
444932 tn?1273980797 OMG! My entire body has been itching and burning for the past 4 or 5 hours. Is this a WD symptom? I have taken benedryl but all it does is knock me out for a couple of hours and I wake up itching again. This is driving me crazy. Anyone have any great remedies for this? I'm on day 11 and hadn't had any physical WD symptoms for the past few days. Today, the itching started and the running nose, eyes and sneezing came back too. I don't feel like I'm getting a cold or anything.
Avatar f tn Cold turkey, nicotine replacement, Chantix. Was easier with fewer withdrawal symptoms when I was younger so I stayed quit longer. Lately, when I attempt to quit, cold turkey, the only thing that relieves constipation, gas, bloating is to smoke again. Smoking provides immediate relief and over the counter meds or diet/exercise changes do not seem to work. Does it just take many months for the Nicotine to leave the system and for gas symptoms to stop? Do I just need to stick it out longer?
1609058 tn?1298089127 Evidently, the mixture of Lexapro and Chantix is not one to take lightly, and the fact that I abruptly stopped the Chantix caused me to have a severe withdrawal from the Chantix. Does anyone know more about this, or has anyone had any experience like this? I'm still blown away at all the stuff I said and did, very disconcerting to have absolutely no recollection of anything I said or did over 2 days time. Please help!
380558 tn?1309042387 Hey guys! I just got home from work and realized how many posts were here.. holy cow! LOL.. I'm glad someone's paying attention, at least.. hehehe Today's day 2 on the Chantix (my insurance paid for it).. Today I can feel really strong withdrawal symptoms from the nicotine, and if I try to 'light up', it's like puffing on air.. so, only 1 cigarette today.. :D.. why smoke when it's not doing me any good? never did anyway!
Avatar m tn Ok well it may be the Chantix... but I dont know... most symptoms I know of with Chantix are stomach related. Just in case I would try stopping... if you still get you know thats not it... However, i actually think you may have a sinus infection... Very common when you first quit. Usually appears as though you get a cold or something within the first 3 weeks... it's actually like all the crap is coming up from your system.
444932 tn?1273980797 This post is so encouraging & I love how the end states the money saved, cigs not smoked & time of life that has been added due to you quitting. I'm on day 4 of starting Chantix & I was looking to see if itching is a side effect of taking chantix. It's not listed as a side effect but I found these comments on it. I know it's not withdrawal cuz I'm still smoking so it has to be the chantix.
427279 tn?1210919821 i was just wondering if any one here uses chantix and is it helping you?....
Avatar f tn Thank you for the reply. I actually pulled out the pamplet that came with the chantix after reading that online and it does have MS listed as a rare side effect. And I'm not really blaming the med for my symptoms, it just seems like every time i try to look up the symptoms I'm having, everything points to MS. I'm just worried that it might be and was wondering if my symptoms sound like it could be. Thank you again for your reply.
444932 tn?1273980797 I just started taking Chantix yesterday. I have heard lots of great things about this medication and how much it helps, but I've also heard lots of scary things - bad dreams, depression, suicidal/homicidal thoughts, hallucinations. Obviously, I chose to ignore all those things and take it anyway b/c I know me and I know that I need something pretty powerful to help me quit. I also quit taking pain pills four days ago.
Avatar m tn After quitting 3 weeks ago, I have strange symptoms. My face feels swollen, tounge swollen, eyes itchy and voice becomes raspy. Anyone else have these symptoms?
Avatar n tn I would not think that Chantix would affect your thyroid, but everyone is different. Are you still taking Chantix? I am assuming not. ALso, I feel compelled to mention that I too had the symptoms you had, except for the trouble breathing, and my vitamin D level was extremely deficient. You may want to get that checked. Wishing you the best.
Avatar n tn Thanks but, the Chantix reference was just an example, I never took Chantix, but learned about it's side effects during my research
Avatar n tn So, I just want to run a few things by you ladies and see if you have any ideas. I'm 2 days late with my period and still no signs of it showing. I'm too scared to test, for a variety of reasons. I just think the odds of actual pregnancy are so slim, given I'm 38 and smoke and drink (not very much though) This month has been a strange one with my cycle.
Avatar n tn I have been on Chantix . My breast are swollen and tender. Has anyone else had this side effect. Not from my periods - had a hysterectomy 15 years ago.
Avatar m tn I quit smoking using Chantix as well. I am only 1 month non-smoking. I only took Chantix for 9 days as on the 9th day I found out i was pregnant. So I was non smoking and pregnant, to only two weeks later miscarry. I am not too sure if its from the hormones, or from the symptoms of not smoking, but i was extremely irritable, it was almost to the point that everything i that came out of my mouth was snappy. I developed insomnia right from the get go from Chantix.
Avatar m tn just curious....how long have you been taking Chantix, and can you stop taking Chantix without the need to have either a cigarette or a Chantix 'fix'??
Avatar f tn Lexapro is good too if he have no side effect... it's way better than Celexa or the terrible Chantix. Lexapro is good for depression aswell as anxiety. And there are less side effects with Lexapro. But i wonder why the doc didnt talk about Wellbutrin since its common for those who stop smoking but i guess Lexapro will do just fine since it have the anti-anxiety and anti-depressor effect...
Avatar f tn after this period, you quit successfully without any withdrawal symptoms. She was a pack a day smoker and her husband smoked 2 packs a day for 30 years and they have no desire to go back!
Avatar f tn I am a 32 year old female and was in excellent health (except for my smoking) until December. I took chantix one for a month last march to quit, fell off the wagon and started it again last december and quit for good. Since then I have had Heart palpitations and speeding up,a constant headache that doesn't go away, dizziness, confusion, trouble breathing, and pain behind my eyes. I have had every test and they can find nothing.
Avatar m tn I have recently been approved by VA for a chantix prescription, and expect to start the cessation program within days. I've been told that a recent medical study indicates that a male of my age, 66, incurs decreased longevity by quitting smoking after 50 years addiction. can someone direct me to such a study, or advise if I've been misled?
