Common Questions and Answers about Chantix treatment

chantix

407029 tn?1253992623 I took Chantix 2 months before I finished my first round of treatment. I was smoke free within 3 weeks of starting the Chantix and on March 4, 2008 I will be smoke free for an entire year! They recommend that you use the Chantix for 3 to 6 months. I did so well with it that I was off it in less than 3 months. When you start forgetting to take it you know it's time to come off it. If I could, I we be a walking advertisement for Chantix.
1755816 tn?1317861184 I am currently on Norco 500 mg. 3 xs daily and prozac, and chantix to stop smoking. im sure they will let me know in 5 days when I start treatment. also r there certain foods or liquids that r good/bad for u while treating.
Avatar m tn First thing...stop the Chantix. Yes, in many people even those with no history of major depression Chantix is proven to have the potential to cause depression. There are better ways to stop smoking than to alter your brain chemistry.
1230229 tn?1447215761 dose any no if your having treatment for hep c can you have the tablets to stop smoking to?
1096641 tn?1271707225 I used Chantix and didn't have any complications. I have never heard of headaches related to Chantix and I just googled "chantix and headaches" which brought up several articles but there was nothing that links the two (mentions of Chantix and headache on the same page). Just wondering Terry where you heard/read it? My husband suffered from cluster headaches and they were nothing like the ones you describe. His were so intense and lasted sometimes for hours.
Avatar f tn So your on both suboxone and chantix? Do you feel wierd or anything? Ive heard things about chantix like it causes nightmares and suicidle thoughts. Im kind of scared. Do you really feel good? How long have you been on suboxone?
Avatar f tn Not that I'm pro Chantix, but allow me to play devils advocate for a minute. When one contemplates quitting and then sets out to do it, there is a profound loss.....like losing your best friend, and we all have to deal with. I myself grieved long and hard. Could your depressed state be that you have finally come to terms with the fact that it is your time to quit? I used Chantix and mourned the loss but I also used it before it was linked to "possible" suicide.
Avatar f tn My friend just quit taking Chantix due to the inability to handle the side effects. She has noticed that since quitting the Chantix alcohol has effected her differently. While on the Chantix she noticed the effects of alcohol tokk in quite quickly where now she seems to have a tolerance that was not there before. Is it possible that theh Chantix caused her intolerabilty to alcohol?
596605 tn?1369946627 Hi I am on Chantix to quit smoking and quit a few days ago. I am very tired so tierd that I cant even turn on the TV.. Is this a normal side effect from going off nicotine? This is the third day that has been like this. I was a heavy smoker before at 1 1/2 packs a day for 30 plus years.
Avatar n tn I would not think that Chantix would affect your thyroid, but everyone is different. Are you still taking Chantix? I am assuming not. ALso, I feel compelled to mention that I too had the symptoms you had, except for the trouble breathing, and my vitamin D level was extremely deficient. You may want to get that checked. Wishing you the best.
Avatar m tn I quit smoking using Chantix as well. I am only 1 month non-smoking. I only took Chantix for 9 days as on the 9th day I found out i was pregnant. So I was non smoking and pregnant, to only two weeks later miscarry. I am not too sure if its from the hormones, or from the symptoms of not smoking, but i was extremely irritable, it was almost to the point that everything i that came out of my mouth was snappy. I developed insomnia right from the get go from Chantix.
Avatar f tn I used Chantix for my quit but had no ill side effects. Hindsight, I probably wouldn't use it again because of all the negativity so what I would suggest is if you have already gone 2 days without a smoke, you might want to consider stopping the Chantix. You are still going to have a physical withdrawal regardless of how long you use the pill though I don't know to what degree, all I can say is that I had a rough go of it.
Avatar n tn I have been on Chantix . My breast are swollen and tender. Has anyone else had this side effect. Not from my periods - had a hysterectomy 15 years ago.
Avatar f tn I, too, smoked for over 40 years. Between that and severe acid reflux, I had built up excess tissue on my vocal cords, to the point that I could hardly talk. I'd gotten to the point that it was so painful to even make sound that I tried not to talk as much as possible. I was sent to an ENT, who said he could remove that tissue (it wasn't cancer, but he was sure it would be soon), but he wouldn't touch me until I had quit smoking for 2 months.
Avatar f tn I took chantix for 1 1/2 months and experienced a little gas but that was all. I quit taking chantix 3 days after my last cigarette and that was 9 months 1 week and 4 days ago. I think I should consider myself one of the lucky ones as all I hear on this board is how bad chantix was for them! Outside of this board, I knew a dozen or so people who took it, and none of them had anything more serious then gas and bad dreams! I hope you start feeling better real soon and I hope that you have quit.
Avatar n tn We are not medical doctors so if you want to know about the side effects then you should call them (chantix) directly at 1-877-CHANTIX. Also, there is something that comes with the prescription that tells you about the risks. You had better read up on it. Sorry to hear that you are having seizures. I took chantix with very little side effects. Good luck with everything and if you need support with your quit, then we are here for you.
Avatar f tn I was taking Chantix for about a week and a half when I had to quit it because I was experiencing depression which was getting worse by the day. This is going on the 2nd full day of no Chantix but I am still feeling depressed. I want to know how long does it stay in your system for. I woke up today and felt close to normal and then it came back again.
Avatar n tn It could be the Chantix or if you are female it could be menopause : ) Seriously though, I think that this may have been a side effect listed. Are you having nigthmares along with the night sweats? Here is a number that you can call: Call 1-866-706-2400. Ask the person on the other end if it is normal. My experience with Chantix was pretty good but I stopped taking Chantix after my third quit day. All total, a month and a half, and I didn't look back.
1442059 tn?1340240952 I think I need a new DR. In Canada they insist you see a psychiatrist before u stat treatment so I will ask about Chantix again. I feel so much better since joining the forum Sometimes just having an outlet is all one needs. Good to know cutting back on coffee is enough. I am like u were a full pot before shower. Again u are right about the relationship thing being the hardest part to fix, Faith if I take the leap the net will be there for me and my little doggy. He is like my child it seems.
984138 tn?1359813073 DON"T DO CHANTIX. My son, 19, took chantix for 3 months and the research was not done on young people. He did quit smoking but at a great risk to his health. It has been 10 months of hell since he went off the med. While on the med he has mild side effects but after many blood tests, a positive ANA and anxiety/panic attacks - he is slowly getting healthy again. We did not do our homework and the result was a very sick young man.
432312 tn?1265644974 well once bi polar always bi polar.I thought about taking chantix when I wanted to quit smoking but the side effects made me decide chantix was a nono for bi polar me. So I decided to get hypnotized instead and that has worked quite nicely. Yes chantix can do that. Try doing what you did before you got back on your head meds.Eat healthy, exercise,NO caffiene or sugar as these both aggravate bi polar. Reg sleep pattern is important too.Meds and therapy.
Avatar f tn But I still am in trouble after stopping Chantix 7 weeks ago. Pretty nuts, a change from smoking 40 years, Effexor, Chantix, and Prozac. Should I quit every drug and start over?
Avatar f tn I am a 32 year old female and was in excellent health (except for my smoking) until December. I took chantix one for a month last march to quit, fell off the wagon and started it again last december and quit for good. Since then I have had Heart palpitations and speeding up,a constant headache that doesn't go away, dizziness, confusion, trouble breathing, and pain behind my eyes. I have had every test and they can find nothing.
