Chantix quitting

Common Questions and Answers about Chantix quitting

chantix

1609058 tn?1298089127 Evidently, the mixture of Lexapro and Chantix is not one to take lightly, and the fact that I abruptly stopped the Chantix caused me to have a severe withdrawal from the Chantix. Does anyone know more about this, or has anyone had any experience like this? I'm still blown away at all the stuff I said and did, very disconcerting to have absolutely no recollection of anything I said or did over 2 days time. Please help!
Avatar f tn I used Chantix for my quit but had no ill side effects. Hindsight, I probably wouldn't use it again because of all the negativity so what I would suggest is if you have already gone 2 days without a smoke, you might want to consider stopping the Chantix. You are still going to have a physical withdrawal regardless of how long you use the pill though I don't know to what degree, all I can say is that I had a rough go of it.
Avatar m tn Today I am on day 23 and I really believe I am finally done for good now. The longest I ever made it before was about 3 days without cheating. I take Chantix now and I have tried everything in the past. I know chewing is different but I have a friend that chews that is also taking chantix and it is helping a lot. I don't know their exact quit status but last I heard it was going well.
Avatar f tn My friend just quit taking Chantix due to the inability to handle the side effects. She has noticed that since quitting the Chantix alcohol has effected her differently. While on the Chantix she noticed the effects of alcohol tokk in quite quickly where now she seems to have a tolerance that was not there before. Is it possible that theh Chantix caused her intolerabilty to alcohol?
Avatar m tn After quitting 3 weeks ago, I have strange symptoms. My face feels swollen, tounge swollen, eyes itchy and voice becomes raspy. Anyone else have these symptoms?
Avatar m tn m trying to cut all the deadweight out of my life and trying to battle 2 addictions within 2 weeks of eachother. That said, I plan on quitting smoking with help from CHANTIX. (I got them from my Doctor several weeks ago....while I was on my long taper from Hydro). The Dr. does not know about the hydro abuse, just the smoking (obviously).
380558 tn?1309042387 They said that after 72 hours on the Chantix (because Chantix blocks the nicotine from entering the receptors and the nicotine will be out of the system within 72 hours as well) I shouldn't be feeling any major cravings after.. So, it should be alot easier by tomorrow.. :D.. just go to the website, you'll get a whole read up on it.. :D.. it's WORTH taking! Everyone else.. thanks so much for your encouragement and support! I'm so glad I logged on today! Love you all!
Avatar f tn So your on both suboxone and chantix? Do you feel wierd or anything? Ive heard things about chantix like it causes nightmares and suicidle thoughts. Im kind of scared. Do you really feel good? How long have you been on suboxone?
Avatar f tn You are talking about Chantix (Varenicline tartrate) that should be available worldwide. If not, ask your doctor for other suggestion for quitting smoking.
540521 tn?1221699706 How do you get Chantix? Are there any side affects? Congrats on quitting, that is awesome. It takes so much will power to quit and i very much want to stop, My children are always telling me to quit and i know it's time.
Avatar m tn Ok well it may be the Chantix... but I dont know... most symptoms I know of with Chantix are stomach related. Just in case I would try stopping... if you still get you know thats not it... However, i actually think you may have a sinus infection... Very common when you first quit. Usually appears as though you get a cold or something within the first 3 weeks... it's actually like all the crap is coming up from your system.
Avatar m tn First thing...stop the Chantix. Yes, in many people even those with no history of major depression Chantix is proven to have the potential to cause depression. There are better ways to stop smoking than to alter your brain chemistry.
Avatar f tn It is my opinion to stay away from Chantix. Cutting down before quitting would be better. At least nicotine is a known drug as is the effects of smoking during the first trimester. I would take my chances with the known before I would Chantix. It's a class C drug which means it could cause problems. Good luck....I know exactly how you feel.
Avatar m tn I quit smoking using Chantix as well. I am only 1 month non-smoking. I only took Chantix for 9 days as on the 9th day I found out i was pregnant. So I was non smoking and pregnant, to only two weeks later miscarry. I am not too sure if its from the hormones, or from the symptoms of not smoking, but i was extremely irritable, it was almost to the point that everything i that came out of my mouth was snappy. I developed insomnia right from the get go from Chantix.
444932 tn?1273980797 Sorry to hear that you had to quit the chantix. I guess I was one of the lucky ones! There are no quick fixes and even though chantix made it easier, there were still withdrawals and cravings. If you have had success using the patch then you really should try that again, read whyquit.com and post to the board when you are feeling vulnerable. Good luck!
6320266 tn?1380299767 I have tried to quit using the patches and gum and have not been successful. I have also not heard good things about chantix.
Avatar f tn Not that I'm pro Chantix, but allow me to play devils advocate for a minute. When one contemplates quitting and then sets out to do it, there is a profound loss.....like losing your best friend, and we all have to deal with. I myself grieved long and hard. Could your depressed state be that you have finally come to terms with the fact that it is your time to quit? I used Chantix and mourned the loss but I also used it before it was linked to "possible" suicide.
Avatar n tn I tried to quit a few months, but it just was'ent the right time for me, I used Chantix and when I tried and only got through the starter pills, so I guess my question is do I need to go back to the Dr and get the starter pack again or are the pills the same?
Avatar n tn It could be the Chantix or if you are female it could be menopause : ) Seriously though, I think that this may have been a side effect listed. Are you having nigthmares along with the night sweats? Here is a number that you can call: Call 1-866-706-2400. Ask the person on the other end if it is normal. My experience with Chantix was pretty good but I stopped taking Chantix after my third quit day. All total, a month and a half, and I didn't look back.
Avatar m tn i know its listed but i only seem to have recently got it and iam wondering if it is a sx of chantix, (note i only got this symptom when i STOPPED taking chantix) about two weeks after , i often have it most days i feel dizzy mildly for hours at a time but not so dizzy i fall over, also feel slightly car sick (when not driving) oddly i never feel dizzy when driving!
Avatar f tn 30, its 3:30 now and I've had 3 cigs. I'm using nicotine patches and they seem to help. Anyone out there have any tips they can share with me to help make this a success.
Avatar n tn i've been quit for over 3 weeks now. i'm using chantix....it's amazing how well it works for me. if i dont' take one...i feel it in a few hours...if i do....quitting is rather easy (well easier than it has been in the past). BTW....5 years will turn into 26 years before you even know it. time flies by and when you hit your 30's you'll be on the sideline huffing and puffing, watching as it goes by. look...either way...whether you are 21 or 41 quitting feels the same.
