chantix

Avatar n tn how long does it take to get nicotine out of your system & is there anything you can do to help speed up the progress? How long can nicotine be detected with a saliva test ?
Avatar f tn It is going to take days for it to get out of your system. Try to relax, rest and drink plenty of water. It will ease out, but like a lot of drugs it is hardly gone in two days let us know how you do.
Avatar f tn -- I took my night time dose of Chantix and went out to a club with friends since it was my last day of smoking. I only had a couple of beers (not even enough to do anything), and all of a sudden my memory left me, I couldn't walk, got sick numerous times, I remember bits and pieces, don't remember getting sick everytime, don't remember going home, don't remember how I got into my house, don't remember going to bed, don't remember anything. I had to ask.
Avatar f tn Hundreds of reports of suicides, psychotic reactions and other serious problems tied to the popular stop-smoking drug Chantix were left out of a crucial government safety review because Pfizer Inc., the drug’s manufacturer, submitted years of data through “improper channels.” Some 150 suicides — more than doubling those previously known — were among 589 delayed reports of severe issues turned up in a new analysis by the non-profit Institute for Safe Medication Practices.
Avatar f tn Thank you all for your replies. I shold have left the info abot Chantix out of my first post. I didn't mean to make everyone think I was blaming Chanix becuase I'm not. I just thought that maybe I could have had MS before taking it and something in the Chantix caused my first noticeable flare. So I apologize if everyone thought I was blaming the meds. I was just trying to find out if anyone has had similar symptoms and if my symptons sound like they could be MS.
664798 tn?1225821618 Apparently it can and does effect your siezure condition if your meds are of a specific type, I had a severe epsiode back in december 08 and had to be put in a COMA because of the fact that I began hallucinating badly after I had just stopped tasking the chantix. I stopped taking chantix because of the nightmares it caused me,...Nightmares I'd rather forget about,.....I think I almost re-lived me entire childhood up to age 5 in three ngihts of "non-sleep".....
Avatar n tn Hi Kimmie, Hope you get some answers when your tests come back. And good luck with quitting smoking. I tried the Chantix, but couldn't do it because of the nausea it caused. Guess I'll have to go cold turkey like Lulu. Let us know how the tests come out.
380558 tn?1309042387 D:D.. glad to see SOMEONE on! lol.. I've been working my rear off! UGH! I went back to work today for a company I worked for, for 2 years, then I walked out on them in October because of drama and chaos, but the people responsible for THAT were fired, so they called me yesterday and asked me to come back.. They offered me nearly DOUBLE the pay and bonuses plus commission, so I accepted.. However, it's sooo stressful.. although VERY boring at times and VERY quiet..
380558 tn?1309042387 Mr. Lucky66: WOW! Congrats on 4 months without smoking! THAT is definitely one HECK of an accomplishment, lemme tell ya! DANG! I formed hardening of the ateries, already, and wonder if ANY of that will start to 'heal' once my body rid of all the toxins.. I also wonder if an arterial chelation (cleansing of the arteries) would do any good? Not sure if any of you have heard of that or not.. Hopsing & Oxygirl: Today is day 3 on the Chantix..
729288 tn?1251254433 About 8 months prior to finding out I had HCV, I used Chantix to quit smoking. I got a little quesy from them so I always took it with food. Hmph... no wonder I gained 30 pds. LOL! I have now been smoke free for 13 months. But I was feeling so bad before quiting that I felt if I didn't quit I would die from smoking shortly. My eyes are so dry from tx that when I get around a cig it burns my eyes so bad. I am also short of breath from TX. I can't imagine doing tx and smoking.
444932 tn?1273980797 I just started taking Chantix yesterday. I have heard lots of great things about this medication and how much it helps, but I've also heard lots of scary things - bad dreams, depression, suicidal/homicidal thoughts, hallucinations. Obviously, I chose to ignore all those things and take it anyway b/c I know me and I know that I need something pretty powerful to help me quit. I also quit taking pain pills four days ago.
Avatar n tn 4 years ago, my heart went out of rhythm and I had a virtual blackout. At the same time, I also started having psychological symptoms, especially chronic derealization. I don't have anxiety or panic attacks, I feel like something toxic is effecting my mind, like the psychological side effects of Chantix or a similar drug but it won't ever wear off. Now of course at first, I had no idea about any of these terms I'm throwing out, but this is where I am 4 years later.
Avatar m tn Kathy, the thought of Chantix being the reason actually crossed my mind the first time, but I kind of ruled that out because I smoked far longer on it than I was supposed to (six weeks before quitting :-( ugh) and had no problems at all. This just started after I finally stopped kidding myself and threw them down. Thanks for the input and I will definately repost and let you know the result. Big T, I never thought of that. I'm actually breathing great since I've quit.
444932 tn?1273980797 Sorry to hear that you had to quit the chantix. I guess I was one of the lucky ones! There are no quick fixes and even though chantix made it easier, there were still withdrawals and cravings. If you have had success using the patch then you really should try that again, read whyquit.com and post to the board when you are feeling vulnerable. Good luck!
Avatar n tn The only side effect I had, still have, is lack of taste. My sense of taste is screwed up. Found out that 8% of the people who take Chantix will have this problem. I hope this clears up soon, it's ticking me off. Hope you don'tget this side effect. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn I was having thoughts of wanting to hurt myself. I went to the hospital to get evaluated and it came to find out that chantix wasnt for me. I got dignoised )sp?) with depression/anxiety. so you might wanna reconsider taking the drug. I am not saying that what would happen to you if you were to take it. We are all different and take to medication differently. Make sure you know the ins and outs of the medication before you do start to take it.
Avatar f tn Cold turkey, nicotine replacement, Chantix. Was easier with fewer withdrawal symptoms when I was younger so I stayed quit longer. Lately, when I attempt to quit, cold turkey, the only thing that relieves constipation, gas, bloating is to smoke again. Smoking provides immediate relief and over the counter meds or diet/exercise changes do not seem to work. Does it just take many months for the Nicotine to leave the system and for gas symptoms to stop? Do I just need to stick it out longer?
Avatar n tn I must be so out of tune with my body and what is happening with it! So many people have identified side effects and seem to know when anything is amiss with their bodies, and I barely noticed anything...a little upset stomach and maybe a bad dream or two. Many have had various problems but I'm not sure if I have heard of your complaint before. Have you read up on their website? Try a google search of "Chantix and swollen breasts" and see what comes up.
Avatar f tn Im just wondering if it is OK to take them together. I just want to find out as much as i can befor i start chantix. Please give me as much info as possible.
Avatar n tn I am a respiratory therapist and have been watching the wonders of Chantix since it was developed. I have seen wonderful results in many patients. However, my husband could not take it. He became very mean and I took him off. Shortly there after, even though I was told this was not a side effect of Chantix, reports started coming out about this very issue related to Chantix. My point is, who knows? I would not think that Chantix would affect your thyroid, but everyone is different.
596605 tn?1369946627 Any better today? I've been thinking about you; read a few more posts on Chantix side effects, and if you still feel that deep fatigue, I would quit the Chantix immediately!...and most especially if you have any kind of emotional issues (I don't mean to assume) as Chantix can exacerbate them. There are many other quit aids to choose from if Chantix turns out to be not right for you.
Avatar f tn Today I have 1 year of not smoking cigarettes. Woot whew! I used all the stuff to quit including zyban, patches, chantix and nicotine gum, in that order. I’m chewing 3-6 pieces of 4 mg nicotine gum per day. I told myself that after 1 year of being smoke free, I would deal with my gum addiction. The plan of course is to wean myself off of the gum. I thought I would start by cutting the 4 mg in half and see if that works, the problem is I love the gum….
Avatar f tn So if you have the choice of paying more money for a third party to help you out over several weeks and months, or go cold and have the nasty stuff out of you system in 72 hrs, why would you not opt to get it out and be done with it? It is the time and success gained by going the 72 hr route that gives you the incentive to move on. I have saved 175.00 in three weeks. I simply transfer this money from buying a carton to my personal savings. If I fail, I have to return the money to the budget.
