hi fellow sufferers,
just wondering if anyone else suffers from dizziness and or nausea? i know its listed but i only seem to have recently got it and iam wondering if it is a sx of chantix, (note i only got this symptom when i STOPPED taking chantix) about two weeks after , i often have it most days i feel dizzy mildly for hours at a time but not so dizzy i fall over, also feel slightly car sick (when not driving) oddly i never feel dizzy when driving!

Hope you get some answers when your tests come back. And good luck with quitting smoking. I tried the Chantix, but couldn't do it because of the nausea it caused. Guess I'll have to go cold turkey like Lulu.

I've got the same thing going on. My chest hurts but it's centered in my breasts. Also got a bit of back pain and neverending nausea. I've been on chantix for a week and a half and will NOT be refilling it. These new pains are the last straw for me!

I was also concerned about the depression and the Chantix affecting me, but my doctor said that the likelyhood of feeling suicidal or more depressed is quite remote, so I decided to give it a try and would quit if I felt awful. I know of a few people who used it and actually claimed to have become "homicidal" and felt extremely angry and violent. Both of these individuals were very, very heavy drinkers, and I am certain that is why Chantix affected them that way.
Did you stop taking the Chantix? A common side effect of this is nausea and with some people it becomes quite a problem when taking it. If you haven't stopped it, as long as you are sick, stop taking it and see if it makes a difference. If you have stopped taking it then I would suggest you see your family physician. It could be galldbladder attacks you are having. When nausea is coupled with abdominal pain, it is nothing to mess around with.
I did have major side effects-mostly nightmares, bad sleep, bad stomach aches and nausea so I stopped it before I quit smoking. I have started it again just two days ago. I am taking it at night with over the counter sleep aid because I know that was the hardest part. It also makes me a little cranky. Definitely works for a lot of people, and some have no side effects at all. As you start taking it, pay attention to how you feel.
I took Chantix for 2 weeks and that was enough to stop. The sickness particularly inthe morning and breast soreness was like pregnancy all over again only much worse. I have stopped taking them 9 days ago and am now smoke-free 14 days. The thoughts of having to turn to Chantix again to a barrier that encourages me to keep strong and fight any cravings.
I have a question for those of you who used the Chantix to kick the cigarettes. I have smoked on and off for years, and I have quit several times for long periods of time, but this time I am in need of some sort of assistance doing it (the thought of no cigarettes is worse for me than the thought of no norco ever was). I don't want to spend any more money on cigarettes, I hate the smell of cigarette smoke, I always have, pretty weird for a smoker, huh?

The serious problems — including reports of completed suicides, suicide attempts, aggression and hostility and depression — had been mixed among some 26,000 records of non-serious side effects such as nausea and rashes, with some dating back to 2006, the year Chantix, or varenicline, was approved.
They echo previous claims that the drug can induce extreme reactions in people trying to quit cigarettes, including vivid nightmares, crippling depression and sudden, violent outbursts.
Got some bad news for you. My husband and I gave it a go. It was horrible. You will have nausea, I mean nausea! It made the cigg's taste horrible but worst of all it turned my husband into a depressed, pissed off, man. If you knew my husband (who won't take a pill if he was on his death bed) Please do your research. There have been a large number of suicides from this med. And after all that we still smoked right through the whole darn thing. We are also going to stop.
Certainly it's better if you cut down on the cigarettes. Ask your OB or RE to prescribe Chantix for you. I hear it's ok to take during pregnancy and it really helps with trying to quit smoking.
Know you're not a lone if you can't quit, many women aren't able to completely quick during pregnancy and the baby turns out okay. I'm not endorsing it of course, just letting you know that you're not the only that's pregnant and could just cut back.
Although Chantix does not contain any nicotine, it acts on nicotine receptors in the brain. This is how the drug works to help people stop smoking. By binding to nicotine receptors, it blocks the effects of nicotine at those sites, helping to prevent the pleasurable effects of smoking. However, Chantix doesn't just bind to nicotine receptors; it also acts a little bit like nicotine, which may help to prevent symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.
By the way, you can always tell that a drug is affecting brain neurotransmitters when you see those warnings they give out, as you do with Chantix, and they warn that they can cause suicidal and violent thoughts and the like. This warning is a dead giveaway that the drug is affecting similar things that antidepressants and anti anxiety drugs and anti psychotics are playing around with.
Not that I'm pro Chantix, but allow me to play devils advocate for a minute.
When one contemplates quitting and then sets out to do it, there is a profound loss.....like losing your best friend, and we all have to deal with. I myself grieved long and hard. Could your depressed state be that you have finally come to terms with the fact that it is your time to quit?
I used Chantix and mourned the loss but I also used it before it was linked to "possible" suicide.
