Avatar f tn Liver Cancer Cells Coaxed To Commit Suicide By Common Anti-Inflammatory The anti-inflammatory drug celecoxib, known by the brand name Celebrex, triggers liver cancer cell death by reacting with a protein in a way that makes those cells commit suicide, according to a new study. Researchers also found that the combination of celecoxib with each of two chemotherapy drugs killed more liver cancer cells in culture, making those combinations more effective than either drug on its own.
Avatar m tn This occurred every day after his morning dose and lasted for a few hours. The celecoxib was stopped and there was no recurrence of the visual disturbance.
Avatar m tn t seen anything positive about Celecoxib. My question is how long should I wait until I start taking this on a regular basis. Because, I have had many alcoholic drinks in my time, but if I stay sober should I be able to take this within 2 weeks? I'm only saying that because I'm assuming it might be a good window opportunity for my liver to start healing!
Avatar f tn Ah thanks for your comment,, I have tried celecoxib and arcoxia as my doctors advised but I already got immune with this meds as they can't controll the pain anymore..
453731 tn?1225199508 You should not take acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) unless your doctor has told you to. NSAIDs include celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac (Voltaren), ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), indomethacin, naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), and others. These medicines may affect blood clotting and could cause serious bleeding in your stomach or intestines. Avoid sudden changes in your diet. Vitamin K decreases the effects of Coumadin.
Avatar n tn For patients with early cirrhosis (CPT class A or B), the use of acetaminophen is safe as long as the recommended dose is not exceeded (1,000 mg per dose, repeated no more often than every 6 hours). Patients with more advanced cirrhosis should take only ½ of the recommended dose. In fact, for patients with cirrhosis, acetaminophen, when used as described, is the preferred medication for the treatment of pain.
Avatar m tn I tKe it as prescribed I have never gone over the maximum dose, I am just concerned about possible withdrawal or anything like that from skelaxin. I have read up on it a lot and it seems pretty harmless and safe, especially compared to other back pain medications. I have refused somas and other narcotics because I don't want to go down that road. Just concerned if say I work 5 days in a row and I take the skelaxin every day. Than I'm off for two days.
Avatar f tn I just did one after I fell and found out that I should not even be on half the medications I am on due to my Celecoxib. So I ended up falling the other day and really messed up my right ankle, low back, neck and right wrist. I was out camping with the hubby and so I took a couple of Benedryll to help me sleep since I was in so much pain...Very Bad Move, it dropped my Blood Pressure way down and caused me to be sensitive to the sun and get sunburned. I was so dizzy.
Avatar m tn Celebrex or celecoxib, on the other hand, is used to treat pain or inflammation including headaches. Medication effect usually varies from one person to another. What is effective to one may not be as effective to another. It would be difficult to say which medicine has a better outlook. You can take the celebrex as an acute medication while the topamax may be your preventive medication. Discuss this with your doctor for proper management. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Although high-dose acetaminophen (Paracetamol, Tylenol) is a well-known hepatotoxin, most hepatologists permit the use of acetaminophen in patients with cirrhosis at doses of up to 2000mg daily. "NSAIDs can cause mucosal bleeding in patients at increased risk of bleeding as a result of thrombocytopenia and coagulopathy associated with advanced liver disease.
604489 tn?1220023514 how's about celecoxib 100mg bd ok friend
Avatar f tn The same thing happened to me, Also have an allergy to Ibuprofen All of the Coxibs like celecoxib and even to ketarolac - as Dr_Veena said they do belong to NSAID group, however currently I'm very cautious in taking any drugs for headaches, different antipyretics like acetominophen and salicylates like aspirin.
Avatar n tn What has helped me the most is Celebrex (celecoxib); It is an anti-inflammatory and unlike over the counter ibuprofen it is safer for your stomach. You want to target reducing inflammation, instead of killing the pain (such as with Narcotics). If you simply kill the pain, you will revert to habits like poor seating position or movement patterns that can exacerbate the injury -- deadly cycle. Ice does this, as well.
Avatar m tn So went to hospital a week ago and did x-ray and blood test. Doctor has given me Celecoxib 200 mg capsules twice a day for 14 days and a gel to apply on my shoulder. Few times when I'm out I missed applying the gel but never missed the capsules (although once I had the capsules 4 hours late). Today I received the x-ray image and report by email, and still waiting for the blood test report.
Avatar f tn She gave me Ethical ciprobiotic Uro, and an antiinflamitory; Celeco, celecoxib 400mg. 2 to 3 hours later I am now peeing alot of blood. How concerned should I be, becuase I feel slightly wonky and a little scared. I cant get ahold of my friend to take me to the hospital and cant go out alone now becuase its late. Is this normal to pee blood? Is this prescription to high for me?
Avatar f tn Chances of allergy are high in your case as you got the symptoms after taking the drug and you were almost symptom free when you did not. Instead you can take COX-2 inhibitors like rofecoxib and celecoxib or nimesulide. Try local analgesic creams and sprays and hot water bags. These will be equally effective in relieving pain without loading your system with drugs. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
618585 tn?1236714644 This kind of pain may be controlled by taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) like celecoxib. However, other possible causes of the low back pain should be investigated. Blood levels of uric acid can increase as the tumor disintegrates because of the chemotherapy. This can also cause joint and low back pains. Tumor spread to the spine and hip bones is another possible cause of severe low back pain.
1556140 tn?1311846527 Other medications such as ibuprofen, celecoxib, and naproxen, can provide some relief from symptoms. If these also do not work, it is best that you inform your doctor and further evaluation done to determine the underlying cause. Patients usually obtain complete to near-complete relief of symptoms with proper medical attention and daily medication for this condition. Take care and regards.
