Avatar m tn Hello, There are many conditions which can cause difficulty in speaking at higher pitches. Voice misuse and overuse are common causes. Acute laryngitis caused by allergies, viral infection, chronic laryngitis and laryngoesophageal reflux all can cause hoarseness and voice difficulties. Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours. Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation.
Avatar f tn Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
Avatar f tn Flexeril or cyclobenzaprine or baclofen are not associated with hoarseness of voice. More plausible causes of hoarseness of voice need to be checked like acute laryngitis, vocal cord nodules, allergies, gastro esophageal reflux, smoking, thyroid problems, trauma to larynx, parkinson’s disease and trauma to larynx. Consult an otolaryngologist who will evaluate the causes and treat likewise. Cough suppressants for laryngitis, treat GERD, stop smoking, vocal rest etc will make a difference.
Avatar n tn This is the third question you have asked about the same problem. 1. besides thyroid eye disease (TED) and space occupying tumors the next most common problem would be orbital inflammatory 'pseudo-tumor' 2. No the eye muscles don't get inflammed without a cause. 3. No the eye only gets larger in infants and children. In adults the sclera is rigid and won't enlarge like the soft, rubber like sclera of youth.
Avatar m tn t have any symptoms except difficulty in swallowing and discomfort in my throat. I feel like something is struck in my throat 70% of the time. I feel like soar throat if I shout loudly. I am fearing if I would have been infected with HSV1. Will this be Herpes Laryngittis/ pharyngitis? will viral Laryngitis/Pharyngitis get relief from antibiotics as I was feeling well in a day after I took them. Will Herpes Laryngitis/Pharyngitis cause no sores in the mouth, tounge or lips?
Avatar m tn So does this mean that if a person has gonorrhea of the throat that causes a sore throat or laryngitis, and the symptoms have gone away, is the STD gone? Is it possible to pass it on to others?
Avatar f tn Thank you. She's gotten several high readings, but a couple "normal" readings when done on an automatic machine. We were told that sometimes in young babies, automatic machines are MORE accurate? Is this correct. She's had BP taken in her leg twice and it has been the same as her arm level, is this common in her age, when laying down? Her femural pulses are good and strong.
Avatar f tn After one month I went to an ENT and he said it was acute laryngitis. My voice has almost returned to normal but there is a connstant tightness in my throat. If I cough the tightness goes away for a short time. It's very obvious when I try to talk. I get choked by the tightness and cough. Sometimes even after I cough I have trouble talking because of the tightness in my throat.
Avatar f tn Laryngitis. Laryngitis is one of the most common causes of hoarseness. It can be due to temporary swelling of the vocal folds from a cold, an upper respiratory infection, or allergies. Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your symptoms are suggestive of sinusitis. The causes of these are bacterial infection like streptococcal, staphylococcal, Tuberculosis, Bronchiectasis and Fungal infections. This can be associated with postnasal drip and throat clearing. This can in turn irritate the throat lining. Other important causes are allergic rhinosinusitis, acid reflux etc.
Avatar f tn I get laryngitis after bouts of sinus infections or colds. I think it comes about from the infectious post nasal drip that constantly runs down my throat. It gets pretty terrible. The last time I had it was for 2 weeks or so. You really need to rest, drink plenty of fluids. If it's from an infection then you need to try to flush that infection out. I will get laryngitis also from constantly trying to clear my throat as well.
Avatar f tn Overall, only 50% of patients with laryngoscopic signs of GERD associated laryngitis have abnormal esophageal acid exposure regardless of the location of the pH probe. Despite this, pH probe testing may prove to be informative.

Avatar n tn Some infants are more immunoglobulin deficient then normal and may need immunoglobulin therapy, temporarily at least. He probably will be IgG deficient because around 6 months of age the IgG he got from you in utero gets used up and infants don't produce their own IgG until around age 2. Infants have weaker immune systems because of this and other antibodies are in lower supply also, compared to adults anyway.
Avatar n tn Are you having any symptoms of GERD like heart burns, pain in the left side of chest or nausea or chronic cough?GERD is curable and hence you need not worry that it can cause cancer in otherwise healthy individual. Hope it helps.Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Priapism is known to cause swelling because of the internal injuries it causes. Infants as well as adults can get an injury in their penis just by having their penis trapped by clothing when a solid erection is occuring. Bending an erection is even more harmful. Many penis enargement tricks or exercises are known to cause injuries. A good rule is if it hurts don't do it and if you have any numbness the area may not be feeling the injury and you could injur unaware.
Avatar m tn Hello I was wondering if its normal to have dark red veins on the back of throat? I have no symptoms, but I did have acute laryngitis two months ago. Ever since then I had no symptoms, but I still feel skeptical when I see those veins on the back of my throat, so should I be worried?
1361044 tn?1277598308 We took her to the ER, we sat for 8 hours, they almost sent us home, and right as we were leaving she did it in front of the nurse, and the nurse was like- you are right- that is not ok, A week later she had surgery for severe reflux, come to find out over 50% of her formula was being inhaled into her lungs. She went blue on me at one point and I told the doctor he must do the surgery. Had I not pushed for her, she probably would have died in her sleep at some point.
Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
