Common Questions and Answers about Can prempro be cut in half

premarin

Avatar n tn He flipped when he found out my mom had been on prempro that long. He told her in his opinion it was totally unnecessary and took her off of it. She's been just fine since that day and wishes she had stopped a lot sooner. I know that doesn't really answer your question, but it does let you know that someone in your age bracket did stop taking prempro and is functioning perfectly without it.
Avatar f tn You are probably going to either have to go back on prempro and wean off, you could use herbs and maybe cut the wean time down, or BHRT.
Avatar f tn Hot flashes and osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis). Awaiting biopsy results for microcalcifications around or in ducts. Can prempro increase risk of BC, in particular, DCIS?
Avatar f tn I am 54 yrs. of age and have been period free for 8 yrs. Within the last year and a half I have been seeking treatment for horrible burning inside and out of the vaginal area. My doctor has done many tests and has said that I have vaginal atrophy (sp) and told me to use replens. She also recommended Prempro as I still have a uterus. I no longer have health insurance and can't afford the prempro and the replens DOESN"T work.
Avatar f tn She said she does not believe bioidenticals are any safer than Prempro and if I needed to have an adjustment in my Rx due to break through symptoms of hot flashes and severe brain fog along with zero energy then I needed to try something different than what I had been doing. I decided to give the Prempro a try against my better judgment to see if it helped me feel better because I was feeling pretty desperate! I took my 2nd dose today and I still hate it down to my very soul.
Avatar f tn Yes its ok to cut it in half. It should have a little place on the pill where to cut it. If you want to be absolutely sure you can always ask your pharmacist.
Avatar f tn Hi, I take Lexapro and it's stopped my hot flashes. If you've had BC be sure to ask your doctor before you take natural remedies as some can cause issues.
Avatar f tn The estrogen in the prempro may alter synthroid requirements, so when changing estrogen medications, we usually repeat TSH in 2 months.
Avatar f tn The Evista is suposed to help with osteoporosis as well as cut my chances of ibc in half. Since I am prone to hot flashes, doc prescribed Effexor, an anti-deppresant known to combat hot flashes to take along with the Evista. I hate the idea of taking a med to offset SE's caused by another med. I was hoping that my flashes would be gone by now so that I wouldn't get a double whammy of them when I started the Evista. But I think valuable time is going by.
Avatar f tn Yes, my pill can be split in half. I don't have a pill spliter, so I am wondering if I can use a knife to cut it. I already cut it actually and it split right in half. My pill has a "divit" like a divider already so it cut very easily.
7510956 tn?1411671417 That is crazy!!!! Cut it in half and everybody fails treatment. Sound like more than crazy. Never heard of that before. That's just plan stupid.
Avatar n tn i am 55 and i had been on birth control pills for 25 years to keep my periods regular now i went to a different Dr she told me i would not start menopause while i was taking the birth control pills so she put me on angeliq a hormone pill i started taking them and after 2 months my periods and after not having 1 for 6 months i started my period again which lasted almost a month i went back to Dr and she wants to put me on prempro i don't know if i should take the prempro or start taking my bi
Avatar f tn This sounds like perimenopause along with some Depo shot aftereffects. All this bleeding can be a nuisance but does eventually settle down. It seems more common to prescribe birth control pills than hormone replacement (Prempro) during perimenopause. And a course of progestin seems to be more commonly prescribed to stop prolonged and/or heavy bleeding.
Avatar n tn I wanted to know if I can cut the pills in half. Would taking 250mg. be as effective? All the symptoms of my uti are gone. I was supposed to take the pills for 7 days and I stopped after 4 because of side effects.
Avatar f tn Other lifestyle changes in the menopausal years can be as much to blame as menopause itself, for weight gain. But it never hurts to attack the problem with some kind of exercise.
Avatar f tn Hi, I recently had a mammogram which showed findings of a cyst. I needed additional views, so I returned three days later for a second mammogram of the left breast only, and it showed a nodule. I had an ultrasound the same day which showed an 8 mm benign cyst and several other subcentimeter benign cysts, some with low internal echoes (what are internal echoes?) I've been on Prempro over 10 years and understand this could be the cause of the benign cysts.
237053 tn?1258828426 I heartily requested I be able to go on Prempro to my GYN. He had me do the standard hormone therapy first, then allowed the Prempro. I was on it for over ten years and I felt it was very positive for my MS not to have periods! Then came the big Prempro crash and controversy. I stayed on it anyway for several more years without insidence then the pedulum swung back and some people have resumed its use again.
1059594 tn?1261323966 Isn't Opana Time Released? I know you're the doctor, but I don't think you should inform people to cut their medications in half, ESPECIALLY if they're time released as this could cause a rapid release of all the medication in turn making her more sick, or am I wrong? This discussion is related to New Medication - Side Effects.
Avatar f tn Just finished weaninf off the Prempro. Having sweats and flashes, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I am supposed to start Raloxifene. This may cause hot flashes. If severe enough, dr will rx Effexor to treat flashes. I have been reading such negative information about the side effects of Effexor, and even worse, the are withdrawal symptoms if you have to get off of it. Is there anyone reading this that actually had to take effexor along with Raloxifene?
Avatar f tn Metoprolol 25 mg. Does it make a difference in what I'm taking, wether I can cut in half or not? The PA knows what I am taking and he told me just to cut it.
Avatar n tn The latest is the inability to have an orgasm. That made me go see my doctor who prescribed Prempro. My maternal grandmother died with breast cancer. I have a history of seizure disorder and on Dilantin. After 2 days of taking Prempro I decided not for me. I think I need Progesterone and would like to know if others use the cream and what brand. Or any advice appreciated. Thank- you.
Avatar f tn But I do not think there are enough robust studies to support this. And the use of progesterone does seem to be more problematic in dosing to both protect and prevent breakthrough bleeding or spotting. And over-the-counter progesterone cream has been shown to not be effective at protecting the lining when taking estrogen.
Avatar n tn It could be the prempro. Ask your doctor about going off of it for a few month and see if that helps. I heard that estrogen can cause congestion along with other medications. I too have non allergic rhinitis but mine is considered Vasomotor rhinitis.k I had this for 6 yrs. but I do not take any medication, just nasal steroid sprays and nasal rinses and it does not do anything. I even had sinus surgery - total ethmoidectomy, opening the ostia of the maxillary sinuses and partial turbinectomy.
Avatar f tn So my question to you is can I cut my 75mcg synthroid in half? or just ask my doc for the 50mcg??? he gave me 25mg of cytomel. but I did cut it in half because I was scared to take the full dose. any suggestions from the pros?
