Common Questions and Answers about Can i take lunesta and melatonin

lunesta

Avatar n tn can i take lunesta with a natural sleep aid that has melatonin, valerian root, passionflower, chamomile, hops extract and 5-HTP?
Avatar n tn I never tried remeron, but ambien was horrible and so was resterol the taste of the lunesta that it leaves in your mouth is horrible so there is no easy answer but I did find the ativan did help for a while and I still take it with the lunesta and I agree if I get a good nights sleep the next day is much better.
527657 tn?1214051850 I usually watch a little tv, read a book, then get sleepy, and fall asleep. It really helped me, and I take it every now and then. It is natural and not habit forming, which I really like.
Avatar m tn I think the biggest side effect that you might have will be insomnia. I used to take Lunesta and when I stopped I didn't sleep for a week. On a positive note,,,COngrats on 20days!!!
Avatar m tn I was completely addicted to ambien and lunesta. It had such a grip on my life and I ended up wrecking 3 cars and doing countless other things while I was using. If you can get by without using any of the prescription sleeping aids it is best.
Avatar m tn 1.25 is a bit high of a dose to jump, but doable. I found lunesta worked one night, then I had to wait a few nights to take it again. I rotated lunesta, melatonin, and St, John's Wart to keep my tolerance of any one down. Nothing seemed to help for days 5-14 or so, just had to read all night and stretch a lot. I never liked Soma, so no advice on that, accept use them sparingly. Your brain and body can only detox on subs stance at a time, so if you take nothing you will heal faster.
Avatar m tn Trazadone is a great med that helps with sleep and it will also help w/anxiety the next day after u take it.I remember taking them when I was taking like6-8mg of xanax a day and I quit and took the trazadone to help w/sleep cause benzo w/d is rough and sleep doesnt come easy.Well to my surprise it helped a lot with not feeling like I was gonna jump out of my skin. The only thing is for me((maybe cause I needed it so badly)I slept9+hours the1st few times I took it).
Avatar m tn I have found that melatonin works pretty well for me. I have ones that are 10 mg and I take one about a half hour before bed. I also found one called Sleep made by Hylands and that works pretty well too! Our bodies get used to them though so they are not so good to take every night! Ambien and Lunesta are called "Z Drugs" and are very similar to benzos. They have the same WDs as benzos if taken for a period of time.
Avatar f tn I love my Adderall too but I take Melatonin or Calms Forte (natural stuff) when I need to sleep and can't. I also use an alarm on my watch to remind me to take my last Adderall before 3 p.m. I also use Ginko Biloba, Alpha Lipoic Acid and Acetyl L-Carnitine to boost the effects of Adderall so I can usually get by on less of it per day, depending on what I have to get done on a given day, of course.
Avatar m tn As needed or regularly? I personally would be scared to take Klonopin and Lunesta together. Have you done it yet? Is the Lunesta just for once in awhile?
Avatar n tn i have a chemically induced daze, little fatigue , muscle aches amd slight insomnia and melatonin doesnt seem to kick in , so i tale a little Ativan and it helps a little.
Avatar f tn I am on day 15 and I have been taking Ambien almost everynight. Even when I take the Ambien, I still wake up around 5 am and can't fall back asleep. I have tried Melatonin, and it does make me sleepy, just doesn't keep me asleep for more than an hour. I know people say not to add another pill like a sleeping pill, but for me, I know I need it. I have a 18mo and 2 mo old that I need to be there for.
Avatar n tn I have tried Lunesta and it worked for a year and I am now on Xanax which I seem to have to take more and more of to sleep. What can I do?
Avatar m tn I have a prescription for Xanax that I keep on hand for those times I need a little help to get to sleep and stay there. I can pretty much tell when I might have a restless night so I break a .5 mg in half and it is just enough to help me stay asleep. I think a couplke weeks trial wouldn't hurt if you are feeling the symptoms of sleep deprivation. As your body continues to get used to the steady amount of thyroid hormone from the Levo, you will probbaly settle into a sleep routine.
Avatar m tn Thank you everyone for the advise! I am coming off Vicodin, but now I am not sure. I starting taking tramodol to ease the V. withdrawl. I stopped taking that and now I am not sure what is making me feel so terrible. I didn't take much of the Tramodol, but now I am hearing horror stories. I took Valerian root last night and that helped a bit. My biggest problem now is my mood and overall frustration with getting on with life as a normal human being.
Avatar m tn My doc prescribed Lunesta and I took that for the first time last night - slept for only 2 hours and woke in a hot sweat. That was it for the night. It seems that my stomach pains may be stress-related and that this may be the reason I'm waking up and can't get back to sleep. I'm having a difficult time making it through the day due to lack of sleep. Also feeling kind of foggy from the meds. Never had sleep issues before my trip.
Avatar f tn You might try taking a combination of Valerian and Melatonin when you stop the Lunesta. I was taking Lunesta in my early withdrawals and it did make me sleep, but that nasty taste was to much for me. I must say I haven't really slept really well since, but the herbs I mention do help somewhat, I take a hot bath before bed then I take them. From what I've heard Lunesta withdrawals are mainly mental, but you can get addicted to just about anything.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I get the same thing once in a while, the dizzy spells on and off, but no special time of the day, they are not specific, the same thing with insomnia, it comes and goes, some nights I will sleep straight through like seven hours, and others I will only sleep 5 and thats with taking #3 Lunesta. I get the symptoms and I am taking meds, I just started on Armour a week ago, I have those same symptoms now, but I hope it is just the transition period.
Avatar m tn I am actually being tapered from Risperidone and Xanax by my Psychiatrist and am having sleep problems but I shall take Melatonin or Rozerem instead after consulting my Psychiatrist as I dont want go through another withdrawal syndrome.
Avatar f tn i need some help..i had been on ultram 50mg 6-7 tabs daily for 5 years...i started 2 weeks ago, cutting myself down, then last week really cut back and took my last one this past sunday evening...i am so miserable, i MAYBE sleep for 2 hours then am up and walking around trying to get my severe restless legs to settle, my arms even get the restless twitches/shock wave. i can't do this anymore. tonight has been the worst, i haven't slept at all...what the heck can i do?
1017452 tn?1254904998 My hubby's 35 days clean off methadone and isn't sleeping. His doctor prescribes him Zopiclone on a weekly script but he's going through it in a few days. He takes 2 and that'll give him about an hour and a half sleep then he takes another 2 and sometimes another 1 before morning. He's got a demanding job and people keep saying to him...gosh you look terrible...have you not slept?
736314 tn?1276884623 Sometimes my meds for sleep don't always work. I have to look at different factors though, did I have a stimulant (even chocolate) or carbs before bed. Did I have a super stressful day? Any hypomania? Did I eat too late in general? Too much sleep the night before. I know with the meds I'm on,( I take trazadone). I take it and hit the hay in 30min or less, if I'm in an active environment, even playing on the computer, it's keeping your brain active.
410475 tn?1262942367 Or Lunesta. Now for 3 days i am off of it and just taking melatonin 5 mg. and L-triptophan 2 or 3 of those. I have had 2 pretty good nights actually and am hopeful that it will get even better. All of those meds are habit forming, the sleeping ones and pain ones, all except the benadryl you mentioned. While you get leveled out and off of all the other you will probably have some sleepless nights but it will get better. So, i encourage you to cut back and go to these more natural things.
