Avatar f tn Fasting is okay if you want. Just monitor your blood sugar regularly on days that you fast. I fast from time-to-time. But know now that a fast doesn't always have to be a water fast. You can skip 1 meal. Or skip out on something like coffee for 24 hours. Be well.
Avatar f tn Hi, I recently went on glipizide after a very bad reaction to victoza. I was losing weight, but now the glipizide is keeping me at the same weight. Has anyone had the experience that is the same? and is there a lower does that anyone has still been able to lose weight with? and yes I'm on a low carb diet and excercise plan. I'm doing better with this than I did before and I lost 33 pounds. It's the glipizide.
647391 tn?1275016633 "Do you take Glipizide once a day? " Yes, usually around 5-6am. I eat breakfast 30-45 minutes later. "If so, what is your blood sugars at the end of day." <120 mg/dl "I think the glipizide helps, but doesn't last the day." Don't rely on medications to do all the work for you. There there to 'help' you. Do you exercise and break sweat for 60 minutes daily? Are you at normal body weight? Are you eating a proper diabetic diet?
Avatar n tn I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. No snacks. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Avatar m tn can l take these pills together NEXUM 40MG 1 IN THE AM TAMSULOSIN = FLOMAX .
553878 tn?1226507294 I'm sorry to hear about your results. Unfortunately ANYTHING can be 'normal' for hep c. It is a sneaky, anfractuous, unscrupulous reptile, just as you said. And it spits fire on top of all that. I know you might have decided not to treat at them moment, but if I was you, I would definitely not postpone treatment. You do not want to end up in a situation where you cannot treat and will need a new liver.... and then have to do tx after that too. And then, we are not getting younger..
4117735 tn?1349962369 Is it OK to double, or tipple, your medication? I take Glipizide 10 mg. The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.
Avatar m tn Last September I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I started taking Glipizide 5mg in the am along with meds for blood pressure. I also made major life style changes. I exercise an hour a day five days a week now. I eat extremely heathy. I lost 30 lbs. I'm sleeping again. I changed jobs. I'm still very overweight, but all my numbers are now in the normal range or close to it.
Avatar n tn Same thing happened to me and my doctor told me at least they knew i could get pregnant so dont worry you will. Its sad i would cry so much but i had a little girl after that shes about to be 3 and now I'm expecting another one. I cant lie im scared after that first miscarriage but im staying positive and hoping for the best.
Avatar f tn My husband and I just got into a huge argument because he accidentally threw away my baby girls ultrasound pictures. I had them in an envelope because I was taking them to work to show people, and he mistakenly thought it was trash while he was cleaning and threw them out. Unfortunately the garbage man has already come and gone so they are definitely gone. Of course I was upset, but I didn't get angry with him because mistakes happen.
Avatar n tn Glipizide is a drug that makes your pancreas put out more insulin so it can cause lows. It can also make your pancreas burn out faster. So do research this and consider stopping this drug (in coordination with your Dr.) Metformin does not have this effect. So you can ask your Dr. if metformin is safe to take. Alternative is insulin.
341655 tn?1240368839 The fact that it dropped that low an hour after treating is a cause for concern. Yes, I would see your doctor right away or go to the ER if you can't your blood sugar stable. You need to tell people near you what the warning signs are of hypoglycemia and to give you the glucose gel if you are disoriented. If you are not able to respond and swallow though they shouldn't try and give you anything but should call 911. You don't say if you are taking any medications.
2053416 tn?1330411192 I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar f tn My parents doesn't know I'm pregnant yet I've been scared to tell them especially my dad. But me and my boyfriend found a house and are moving in togather I told parents about the house and that I wanna move with him. And my dad's response was that I'm gonna get pregnant and be his biggest disappointment. This totally just crushed me now I don't even wanna tell him about his little grandson at all.
Avatar n tn I was on metformin and had no issures, than she switched mr to glipizide 5 mg for a week 1 daily and than after 1 week raise it to 2 daily, so that may be problem in it self.
Avatar f tn can the medication Glipizide for diabetes interfere with the orasure test results? can anyone seroconvert after 14 weeks?
Tbd Not so sure that you're doing anything wrong. Metformin can be had on some peoples stomach. I'm fortunate and don't have that problem. I would speak to your doctor about the problem and see if they can come up with a more effective, less agonizing med to help you get your BG levels under control. (Make sure you are taking your meds with food or shortly before or right after eating....) Get exercise, drink tons of water and monitor your BG levels.
Avatar f tn I have chosen to forgo diabetes medication, so the small meals allow my natural insulin production to be released in small bursts that the body can deal with rather than huge, unabsorbable gushes. I consulted an endocrinologist who explained that any medication has a two-to-three-year productivity span before it needs to be boosted with additional meds. He also recommended eating less fruit which, of course, contains sugar.
Avatar m tn Get a new Doctor if you can. Another thought, 1 Glipizide may simply not be enough. When I was first diagnosed as Diabetic, 2 Glipizide was the very first med I was given. It was not until I kept eating **** that I got the scrip for the Metformin. Being a Type 2 Diabetic is a pain in the Butt believe me but it can be controlled. Once again get a new doc, make sure that when you have the A1C test that you are fasting.
1884855 tn?1322800994 so looks like i will be leaving this site for a while. husband and i are crushed. good luck to all of you guys!! hopefully see you all soon!
Avatar n tn I'm a novice when it comes to diabetes so I could use some help. I'm on 2.5mg of Glipizide and have been for about four years. My doctor discourages blood glucose testings -- says that's only necessary if I were on insulin. However, I will occasionally check my blood sugar -- maybe once or twice a month or if I'm not feeling well. I checked it on Sunday and found it was running somewhat high.
Avatar n tn I had two miscarriages in 1 year. Now im devastated. Will I can be a mother. I m crushed. Both pregnancies ended in 6-7 weeks.
Avatar f tn I was in a one-car accident on April 18. I was placed in an Aspen Collar (for about 3-months), dislocated a shoulder and broke three-ribs. I blacked out prior to the accident and have no memory of anything strange or any unusual feelings prior to blacking out. The original angiogram and x-rays also show degenerative disks C5,-C6 & C7. Could this be the problem.? The doctors tell me my injuries will heal themselves but we need to find out why I blackout out.
Avatar m tn That happened to me with metformin and my doctor switched me to glipizide. Now my numbers are going in the right direction. I think you need to complain to your doctor and find what works for you.
Avatar f tn I can tell you that it is safe but I can't tell you if you can discontinue them. the one question I have though is do you really need to be on plavix? That is an expensive medications. Would aspirin be as good? these are questions you will have to ask your doctor but I hate to see you wasting your money if you don't have an indication for plavix. it is hard to say how best to treat the psvt because there are so many different types of psvt. it depends on what it is.
