Byetta weekly injection

Common Questions and Answers about Byetta weekly injection

byetta

Avatar f tn Actually, it is not a pill, but an injection, and yet it is prescribed for weight loss and sugar control. It is called Byetta. Staying away from sugar, carbs and fats is great, and shows a lot of self-control and self-management, which is excellent.
178107 tn?1315947630 My only problem now is that some days I take all of my other meds twice but only have the Byetta injection in the morning. I suppose that is simply because I do not want to eat late and quite frankly just do without it. All I can say is HURRAY FOR THE WEIGHT LOSS. If this is what we must do to have that, I'm with you - I can take the med for the weight loss.
Avatar n tn I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).
Avatar m tn I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
Avatar m tn Thank you for your reply, I'm aware of Symlin and Byetta, but neither My Dr. and what information I can gather on the web works as well as Victoza. I understand Byetta is coming out with a medication that lasts much longer but it uses a larger needle and is truly an injection. Don't understand why these drug companies in the US price their product out of reach of most....
Avatar n tn I actually started on Victoza about 3 months ago. I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds). But the nausea started within a day or two of starting it. At least for me.

Avatar n tn When I see my doc (an endocrinologist) in 3 weeks, I plan to explain all this and ask if the Vitamin D dose can somehow be split into weekly doses or doubled up to 50,000 IU weekly. (The lab order he gave me for use a week or so before this coming appointment includes a Vitamin D blood test, so he'll have the info he needs to make this judgement.) By the way, isn't the recommended daily dose 400 IU, not 40,000?
Avatar n tn I am 22 yr old and i have hepatitis c genome 3 and i am taking pegasus\once weekly and ribavirin since 19-6-08 my question is have i to do weekly CBC or I can do every 2weeks before the injection ?
Avatar n tn Has the doctor taken you off of Byetta? I am on byetta and just found out I am pregnant. I am scared that something could go wrong. I have waited 7 years to concieved. Have you heard of any damaging side effects with Byetta? I am off now and only 4 weeks pregnant. I just know what to think.
Avatar f tn My fasting glucose level has increased in the last month. I've been taking my meds as directed and my diet has remained the same. I've been injecting Byetta for nearly two years (twice a day). My husband saw that there is a class action suit against the manufacturer because of side effects, damage to the pancreas. I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues.
Avatar f tn I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.
502219 tn?1311357910 In March while following up on a case of Ludwigs Angina my enhanced CT scan showed.small non pathologically enlarged lymph nodes bilaterally with some inhomogeneity within the thyroid. I hadn't really worried about it until today when I saw a commercial for a law firm warning that the diabetic drug "Byetta" could cause thyroid cancer. I used this med for over a year in 2006 and was taken off because of other complications. Now I'm scared. Should I be?
Avatar f tn I have been put on Lantus, which is working well, but now he (the doctor) has also put me on Byetta. I read all the warnings, and I asked the pharmacy, and they both told me the side effects are nausea, diahrrea, upset stomach and possible life threatening pancreatis. This bothers me, as my stomach upsets easily, but what I really want to know is how many of you have been on it and what your reactions were? Also, is the chance of being allergic to it very high?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 months ago. I was started on byetta at the routine initial dose which was increased 2 months ago. I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better???
Avatar n tn I didn't respond to your question. I don't know anything about Byetta.
1689583 tn?1387752394 they come preloaded at 180 mcg (1.0 mL vial or 0.5 mL prefilled syringe) . you just put the needle on and tap the air out and aim for the 10 ring. a piece of cake. it usually takes a while to feel any sides from it. for me it's usually the next day. it's just flu like for me, but not a bad one.
Avatar n tn Are you a type 1 or type 2 diabetic? He is type 2 he started taking a new medication called byetta. You inject in your arm before you meals. My husband has lost 40 lbs in the last 6 months. He just can't eat like he used to since he has been on the byetta. It curves your appetite and apparently helps your body produce it's own insulin. It might be something you want to run by your endo doctor. Let me know.

Avatar f tn I started my welly injections at 16 weeks, and will have them til 36 weeks. Don't be nervous, I don't really feel them, no side effects for me either. Nurse did say some patients do get a rash at injection site. The only thing I'm concerned about is the weekly trip to the clinic exposing me to all the nasty germs there.
475740 tn?1208262865 Ask about getting Byetta. I had the same problem with metformin. The byetta has controlled my blood sugars and my pcos.
Avatar m tn I just started TDF+ Pegasys (180 mcg) weekly+NTZ+vit d. I finished my 3rd injection last week. Only the first shot made me feel sick like having a flu. The whole body ached and felt cold but my doctor gave me Paracetomal to take if I cannot stand the pain. There was no more problem for 2nd and 3rd week.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had to be injected with hydroxyprogesterone shots weekly, or had the cerclage surgery (spell check) if so please let me know your experience.
6359077 tn?1441486304 we have used liposomal glutathione from livonlabs (no gmo soy) or maxhealthlabs (the second no soy), obviously it is useless on hbv but extremely helpful in case of fibrosis and liver damage i guess liposomal is better than subcutaneous injection, maybe IV is superior but too complicated to have IV unless you are a nurse/dr yourself
Avatar f tn i have 15 byetta prefilled pens 10mg for sale as i no longer need them maybe their some one what them and they are all store in cooler/fridge.
1201433 tn?1328997637 It's a subcutaneous injection stalion. As long as the interferon is going under the skin and there is enough skin to pinch that's the most important thing. I would have shot it in my a-s-s if I could have reached cause we're talking some body fat back there. In all seriousness, just as long as it can be injected under the skin where the fat is more prevalent such as the tummy or legs it doesn't matter. I used the tummy the entire time.
4705307 tn?1447970322 Your regular weekly Pegasys injection is on Monday. You remember on Friday that you forgot to take your injection on Monday (4 days late). You should inject your regularly scheduled dose immediately on Friday and take your next injection on Wednesday (5 days after your Friday dose). Your next injection will be on the Monday, 5 days later after the Wednesday injection. You are now back on your regularly scheduled day and should continue your injections every Monday.
