Avatar n tn I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).
178107 tn?1315947630 Has anyone used Byetta? I started taking it four weeks ago and it has done wonders on controling my blood sugars and I have also lost 16 pounds. My doctor told me that it may help me to drop a few pounds, but I never thought it could help that much. I admit it does make you nausious, but I can take that for the weight loss.
Avatar f tn I see that this is under juvenile diabetes, which I know even less about. But, Byetta is remarkable for a lot of folks, and there are two newer, similar, products available also.
Avatar m tn I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
Avatar n tn I actually started on Victoza about 3 months ago. I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds). But the nausea started within a day or two of starting it. At least for me.
Avatar n tn Has the doctor taken you off of Byetta? I am on byetta and just found out I am pregnant. I am scared that something could go wrong. I have waited 7 years to concieved. Have you heard of any damaging side effects with Byetta? I am off now and only 4 weeks pregnant. I just know what to think.
489891 tn?1209058786 Ok I am a some what new diabetic released from the hospital 10-20-07 and because of diet, weight, and stress. I was working way to many hours and eating whenever I could. I have to go on a very strick diet and for the first month i lost month and a half i lost 15 pounds. Now a year before the hospital my weight was close to 400 when checking in to the hospital i was 280 and checking out i was 300 lbs.
Avatar f tn My fasting glucose level has increased in the last month. I've been taking my meds as directed and my diet has remained the same. I've been injecting Byetta for nearly two years (twice a day). My husband saw that there is a class action suit against the manufacturer because of side effects, damage to the pancreas. I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues.
Avatar f tn I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.
502219 tn?1311357910 In March while following up on a case of Ludwigs Angina my enhanced CT scan showed.small non pathologically enlarged lymph nodes bilaterally with some inhomogeneity within the thyroid. I hadn't really worried about it until today when I saw a commercial for a law firm warning that the diabetic drug "Byetta" could cause thyroid cancer. I used this med for over a year in 2006 and was taken off because of other complications. Now I'm scared. Should I be?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 months ago. I was started on byetta at the routine initial dose which was increased 2 months ago. I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better???
Avatar n tn Are you a type 1 or type 2 diabetic? He is type 2 he started taking a new medication called byetta. You inject in your arm before you meals. My husband has lost 40 lbs in the last 6 months. He just can't eat like he used to since he has been on the byetta. It curves your appetite and apparently helps your body produce it's own insulin. It might be something you want to run by your endo doctor. Let me know.
Avatar m tn Being a Veteran and on VA benefitsI was barely able to afford Victoza by purchasing from Canada, since the US Government (Bamacare) stopped shipments of that med from Canada I had to purchase it from a US distributor at twice the price, can't afford it and it's replacement Januvia isn't working, Blood Sugar in the 200s and gaining weight. Any suggestions???
475740 tn?1208262865 Ask about getting Byetta. I had the same problem with metformin. The byetta has controlled my blood sugars and my pcos.
Avatar f tn When I asked what could have caused it, being I had no trauma to that area. I was told, I had back luck. Ever since they released me from the hospital I have pain along the right side, it runs to my back. I can no longer sleep on my stomach nor on my right side. I have an appt with a gastroenterologist this week. I am very affraid, Should I be????

Avatar n tn Clonidine, Glimepiride, Byetta, Metformin, Amlodipine, Crestor, and Losartan HCT. Is it possible that it could be these meds? Please help!! I'm working by tail off and still have a GUT. Thank you in advance.
194838 tn?1303428544 It balances out how you digest your carbs. Nuts are excellent, and peanut butter. Try to stay away from animal made products. Peanut oil for oil, or olive oil.
233616 tn?1312787196 chronic inflammation and immune system overactivation appear to play critical roles in obesity.Inflammatory cytokines like interfeon-gamma are made and released in body fat. An enzyme called indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase is activated by interferon-gamma, which then degrades tryptophan in the body. Tryptophan is needed to produce serotonin in the brain." (I guess a glass of milk or turkey at bedtime might be wisdom) (and this is why so many patients get depressed??
Avatar m tn t seem to be experiencing the usual side effects (nausea, headache) others do or that I did when I was on Byetta (I was told Victoza is very similar to Byetta) a few years ago. However ... and this happened to me on a prior med (I forget which one) about 6 months ago, but I started feeling pretty severe anxiety: my face is flushed, my heart is racing, I have a knot in my stomach, and I started getting paranoid (like thinking a friend was going to betray me) for no reason whatsoever.
Avatar m tn Hello, you may want to go check out the thyroid forum on this site and see if your thyroid really is properly treated. If your doctor only tests TSH, then you may not be ok. You also need to have FT3 and FT4 tested and both should be at least middle of the range. What thyroid meds are you taking? Metformin is a useful drug for reducing insulin resistance. It is certainly rational for you to ask your Dr. to let you try it.

Avatar f tn I started taking Glucophage and Byetta. My cycle started to come down on a monthly basis. I got off of both these medications maybe 8 months ago and now I am back to the missed months again. I am also taking Maxide for my high blood pressure and I take it every single day, faithfully. In Januray my cycle was fine (usually lasts 4 days) and then in February, I started seeing lighter menstruation. In March, it skipped.
Avatar n tn my doc says Byetta is safer for liver people.
Avatar n tn I was 46 (now 48), female, when i had a heart attack, 97% blockage, triple bypass. I am type 2 diabetic also. I go to the cardiologist/chf specialist and my regular doctor every 3 months. my a1c is 6.4, cholesterol is down from 386 to 124, tri's- 2400 to 310. my good cholesterol is at only 25. after 6 months of perscription fish oil, now on niaspan. coreg, 80mg. lisinerpril, bumex, spirolactine, byetta, 10mg 2x a day, lantus, 60 units at night, crestor, tricor too.
Avatar m tn 3 months ago my 84 year old father was switched from 4 mg glimperide to lantus 30 units, then 40 units. A1c was 8.9 before change. Now it is 11.5 and he has lost appetite and 10 pounds. This week we started 8 units of insulin before meals. Bs still 200s to 300s all the time. He does have chronic renal failure which has been stable. My question is why go through all this hassle, which is not easy for his age if it's making bs worse? Couldn't he go back to pills and add on another med??
194838 tn?1303428544 I would also like to know if I should still take my diabetic meds as usual ,which are metformin and byetta? and should I skip breakfast on the morning of the test?. Thankyou for any help or advice you can give me.
