Common Questions and Answers about Byetta diabetes

byetta

Avatar n tn I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).
Avatar n tn I was wondering if any of this sounds like it could be diabetes: My hand and feet have really bad circulation. They often turn completely white and the bottom of my feet burn all the time due to poor circulation. Also if I do not get up and eat with in 5-10minutes in the morning I get very tired. One last thing is that I usually get no warning sign of being hungry. I feel full and fine and the next minute I feel like if I do not eat I am going to pass out.
Avatar f tn I see that this is under juvenile diabetes, which I know even less about. But, Byetta is remarkable for a lot of folks, and there are two newer, similar, products available also.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 months ago. I was started on byetta at the routine initial dose which was increased 2 months ago. I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better???
Avatar n tn 125 mg). I also have diabetes. I have gained weight and cannot lose any. It is as if I have a tube in my belly pumping air.....it gets bigger and bigger. Ive had tests done to check my TSH..doc says its normal. I have other issues as well, loss of sex drive, hot and cold, sleepless, tingling in hands, memory issues, headaches. Why can I lose weight? This discussion is related to weight increased - TSH is high.
475740 tn?1208262865 Ask about getting Byetta. I had the same problem with metformin. The byetta has controlled my blood sugars and my pcos.
14386166 tn?1434268142 I have been Type 2 Diabetic for 19 months now and I am on a few Medications such as..Humalog 50-25 units 3 times per day and Byetta 10 unitis 2 times per day and Metformin 2 times per day and Atrovastatin once per day..when I was diagnosed I weighed 120kg now I weigh 154kg, I have been in Terrible pain over the past year..my right and left foot and toes are constently paining and my lower back and hips are always painful also my left elbow joint and my fingers are starting to pain..
Avatar m tn t seem to be experiencing the usual side effects (nausea, headache) others do or that I did when I was on Byetta (I was told Victoza is very similar to Byetta) a few years ago. However ... and this happened to me on a prior med (I forget which one) about 6 months ago, but I started feeling pretty severe anxiety: my face is flushed, my heart is racing, I have a knot in my stomach, and I started getting paranoid (like thinking a friend was going to betray me) for no reason whatsoever.
Avatar m tn I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
Avatar n tn could it be his glucose level was already low secondary to a developing diabetes type I or can that medicine act that quickly. I think we may have stumbled on to something accidently. I checked his nonfasting glucose level just now and it was 121. Any ideas?
194838 tn?1303428544 I would also like to know if I should still take my diabetic meds as usual ,which are metformin and byetta? and should I skip breakfast on the morning of the test?. Thankyou for any help or advice you can give me.
Avatar n tn my doc says Byetta is safer for liver people.
178107 tn?1315947630 Has anyone used Byetta? I started taking it four weeks ago and it has done wonders on controling my blood sugars and I have also lost 16 pounds. My doctor told me that it may help me to drop a few pounds, but I never thought it could help that much. I admit it does make you nausious, but I can take that for the weight loss.
Avatar n tn I actually started on Victoza about 3 months ago. I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds). But the nausea started within a day or two of starting it. At least for me.
Avatar n tn What are you referring to when you say the doctor said it's hormones...the diabetes? I am diagnosed with having Adult Diabetes Type 2. I know mine is genetic because my mom and dad both have/had this disorder. I take a variety of different medications to help with my blood sugars. The two main ones that I take are Metformin and an inject-able pen medication called Byetta. Both help me to keep my blood sugars to a manageable level.
Avatar n tn One reason that 70 can feel awful is because, while it *is* a normal number for someone w/o diabetes, most of us with diabetes run considerably higher than 70 in order to avoid severe lows. Our bodies adjust somewhat to higher numbers feeling "normal." For a person who consistently runs in upper 100's - 200s, a reading of 100 can feel awful. That's part of why it's so difficult for some folks to improve their control.
Avatar n tn Has the doctor taken you off of Byetta? I am on byetta and just found out I am pregnant. I am scared that something could go wrong. I have waited 7 years to concieved. Have you heard of any damaging side effects with Byetta? I am off now and only 4 weeks pregnant. I just know what to think.
Avatar f tn My fasting glucose level has increased in the last month. I've been taking my meds as directed and my diet has remained the same. I've been injecting Byetta for nearly two years (twice a day). My husband saw that there is a class action suit against the manufacturer because of side effects, damage to the pancreas. I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues.
Avatar f tn I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.
Avatar m tn I posted about this a few weeks back about Metformin and here is the whole article about it. It is very interesting that a diabetes drug has been found to combat cancer and HCV. There are probably many other drugs already approved that could also help different diseases if used "off label". Usually these things are found out by accident. http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2010/nov2010_The-Drug-Virtually-Everyone-Should-Ask-their-Doctor-About_01.
502219 tn?1311357910 In March while following up on a case of Ludwigs Angina my enhanced CT scan showed.small non pathologically enlarged lymph nodes bilaterally with some inhomogeneity within the thyroid. I hadn't really worried about it until today when I saw a commercial for a law firm warning that the diabetic drug "Byetta" could cause thyroid cancer. I used this med for over a year in 2006 and was taken off because of other complications. Now I'm scared. Should I be?
Avatar n tn my husband has adult diabetes due to Agent Orange exposure. How does this effect his blood pressure and can it still be maintained with a diet?
Avatar m tn Making things interesting, I am also a diabetic, recently put on insulin. Prior to that, I had tried Byetta for the diabetes, which created a lot of nausea, with occasional dry heaves. It has been a year since then, but I am still experiencing nausea on a daily basis most of the time. It is quick--comes on fast, and passes quickly. It often happens in the morning and food helps a bit. Any time I am hungry, I am vulnerable. But, it can happen almost any time.
Avatar m tn In july of this year was told to add Novalog 5 units after every meal and on sliding scale. I quickly gained anoather 25 lbs. and I feel miserable. I was on Byetta for 1 and a half and kept weight down and was put on oral meds and my levels was still in 400s thats when I start Lantus. I can't deal with the weight diet exercise does not help. What should I do.
Avatar f tn i have 15 byetta prefilled pens 10mg for sale as i no longer need them maybe their some one what them and they are all store in cooler/fridge.
757137 tn?1347196453 Is there anyone out there with type 2 diabetes who experiences spontaneous explosive diarrhea? If so, what medications are you taking and has it been linked to any particular medication? My husband developed this embarrassing and upsetting episodic condition only after being put on medication for diabetes. It affects him every three or four days. We are grateful for any help or suggestions.
574170 tn?1277941303 Only your girlfriend's Doctor can determine whether she needs shots or some type of medication which comes in pill form. It is my understanding that with the Type 2 Diabetes, a person would be started on pill medication. If her blood levels are not controlled (go too high) her doctor MAY increase the pills. (That is what happened to me initially) There are patients in my Diabetes class who have gone from pills to Pills + Insulin, or Pills plus another medication.
