She told me that the oral pill would metabolize through the liver much faster on Modafinil and so she put me on the Nuvaring. (I thought that would be metabolized the same way- but I’m no doctor)! I just went to get a new Nuvaring at my pharmacy and the pharmacist told me the same thing, that Modafinil will affect my birth control. If there is an option where I am protected?

My brother has started university to study architecture this year and due to the huge amount of nights he had to work, started going on modafinil. Now that the year is finished and he's not taking it however, he has become aggressive, irrational and rude. Does anyone know if this is because of the modafinil or if there's a link.

Thanks for the tips - Because the incontinence problem has been becoming increasingly worse, I have been in touch with the MS nurse who has arranged for bladder function tests to be carried out in a couple of weeks so I'll find out then how well I'm emptying. As I have limited feeling in the bladder bowel areas I know that I am often unaware of the need to go (trying to be polite here) which can lead to incontinence. My probs actually began to deteriorate when I took up running.

Can you please tell me if taking 300mg Adrafinil (pre-cursor to Modafinil) once or twice a week, to help me study. will decrease the effectivenes of birth control pills? I'm taking Levlen 1.5/30mg I know that a long term Modafinil use makes birth control pills less effective but how about short term? PLEASE ADVISE, Thank you!

I have always been wrongly diagonized as having insomnia. I realized this around 2 years back when I suffered from a 'true' form of insomnia which lasted a month or so. I am paying more than you - I have high deductible insurance but took the hit because I needed a replacement for amantadine to help with fatigue. Or you could check with another clinic to see. We do find that the NHS does not, often, allow for adequate thyroid testing/treatment, and many of our members do have to go private in order to get adequate care. Do you know the exact TSH level? Some doctors refuse to begin treatment until TSH is quite high.

My question is, is this drug only prescibed in the US? I myself had never heard of it here in the UK. Does anybody know if it perhaps has another name here in the UK or do we just not use the drug? I currently take Diazapam or Ativan for extreme attacks but it would be nice to have something to take on a regular basis that does the same thing but without the same addictive qualities and to perhaps stop me from getting myself into a state in the first place? I'm having one. I'm in Australia. We aren't telling anyone the sex of the baby until the shower so my partners mum has done the pink and blue theme. We have games, a bbq lunch and desert. They have a pool, and stuff so being summer here should be good. But I'm not doing the girlie shower it's a moved family one.

Thanks for your comments - it seems that with NICE and reduction in benefits, MS-ers are having a bad time of it in the UK at the moment (disclaimer: only in comparison with the prior UK situation, not in comparison to the US...) Is anyone out there in the UK and on DMDs? If so, did the neuro prescribe them as a matter of course, or did it take a while?

I took 120mg once A day for 2 weeks, then 120mg twice a day for 4 weeks, then I took 240mg at night and 120mg in the morning for 4 weeks, then I took 240mg at night and also 240mg in the morning every other day for a week, and now I am on week 4 of the full dose (240mg in morning and 240mg at night). Thankfully it has gone sooo much better than my initial try with it. It seems to be a great med. I wish you luck and please message me if I can help in any way!

First about your apnea: My friend has a form or sleep apnea also, and she has to use this special breathing aparatus at night, so that her apnea does not cause her nightly breathing problems. Can't remember what that apparatus is called, but people w/ sleep apnea often use it.
