Common Questions and Answers about Budesonide medication

symbicort

Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed ventolin and budesonide inhalers. After a few days of suffering side effects and getting much worse I went back to the doctor and he confirmed that I am allergic to budesonide, which he said is quite unusual. He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids.
Avatar f tn I had a month or so on Entecort (budesonide here in England) but had a severe rectal haemorrhage and was hospitalised on IV steroids and needed blood transfusions. I don't think my gastro in England, who prescribed it, at the time realised that Entecort only works in the small intestine, and I had Pan Crohn's Colitis. As I had stopped prednisone to go onto budesonide, I had no protection in the colon, hence the flare.
17080824 tn?1453552185 t take any form of drugs. and do not smoke, do not drink and I am a vegetarian. Yes I am inhaling Budesonide Powder to tackle with chronic cough issue. Is it the reason then ? Thank you doctor for your reply and suggestion.
Avatar m tn I lost my job and my medical coverage and have been taking Prednisone, 15mg per day, as a stop gap. This is the only medication I have used which stops this condition and allows me to have a mostly normal resperatatory function with a loss of taste and smell and a mild congestion in my throat. I'm now starting to have side effects from this medication which includes: hot flashes, weight gain, hives, and some blurred vision.
Avatar n tn I am regularly using Ventloin, Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. The only problem is breathlessness arising from throat tightness. I never wheeze in the life. The throat tightness is getting reduced when i take Ventolin. The doctor say i don't have to take ventolin beacause Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. will prevent the difficulty. But only medicines which seems to be working is Ventolin and Motelukast+LC.
Avatar n tn Over that period I have tried different combinations of Prednisolone, Budesonide, Salazopyrin, Singulair and Colpermin, all with limited success. Presently, I am taking Budesonide (9mg daily) and Salazopyrin (150mg daily). Whilst this allows me to function normally (i.e. normal bowel movements) I have discomfort, bloating and cramping all day, every day. Has anybody ever come through this disease to lead a normal life, or has anyone treated a patient that has done so?
Avatar f tn Little is known about the long-term efficacy of inhaled corticosteroids in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We investigated the efficacy of inhaled budesonide on decline in lung function and respiratory symptoms in a 3-year placebo-controlled study of patients with COPD...... Inhaled budesonide was of no clinical benefit in COPD patients recruited from the general population by screening.
Avatar n tn 1) yes, the bad air almost certainly induced acute inflammation of your bronchi, commonly called airways, but it is equally certain that this inflammation is completely reversible, although it may require months of therapy with the Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dehydrate) Inhalation Aerosol, Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), Pulmicort Flexhaler® (budesonide inhalation powder) or similar medicines; 2) No, the treatment would not have had an adverse effect on
Avatar n tn I have a dog with IBD and he takes a compounded steroid called Budesonide everyday plus an enzyme supplement called Prozyme and stays on a strict diet of a fish and pot dry kibble. He still flares up every few months with bloody diarrhea which then we start up sulfasalazine 3 times a day which usually calms things down within a few days and after a week or 2 he's back on track.
Avatar n tn He has been on budesonide for 4 weeks with no results. He also takes esomeprazole with no results. When she did the cameraoscopy she saw what she called white fuzz at the beginning of lower intestines. We did a round of fungal meds. No results. Can anyone help please.
Avatar f tn s under control with weekly injections of 25 mg methotrexate, daily folic acid and 5 mg daily of the steroid Budesonide, which does not have the serious side effects of prednisolone as it is only metabolised in the small intestine, not the liver. My own experience has been with numerous gastroenterologists as I have moved around a lot with my and my husband's careers, and have never been advised to consult a "holistic" doctor.
Avatar m tn 5 mg per day - supplemented by ceretide(similar to advair) 500 - 2 puffs in the morn and 1 at night - and budesonide 160 micrograms - 2 puffs once a day. The thing with oral steroids is that the get absorbed in the body and have been adversely affecting me. I need to get off it, but every time I try to reduce the dosage my asthma tends to get worse. Can anyone offer me any advice regarding this matter?
Avatar n tn For this problem, I was prescribed Rhinocort Turbuhaler (commercial name) budesonide powder made by Astra Zeneca. I normally apply it at least once a day, sometimes I skip if I feel very good. My situation goes back almost 1 week ago when I woke up with a stuffy nose and I thought that I had a bad episode of rhinitis. I took me 2 advil cold and sinus Plus (with antihestamine). The day went on and I kept blowing my nose and taking more advils(I took 3 doses that day).
Avatar f tn The cyclosporine I was taking was a powder in a capsule, apparently this has been taken off the market and instead I took the same medication, but it was in the form of a capsule with alcohol. Unfortunately, after a short time, I was right back to before treatment. And have been avoiding culprit foods ever since. I contacted my doctor and his guess was that the powder worked topically in the digestive system and the alcohol is metabolized by the liver and therefore does not work as well.
Avatar n tn Does Symbicort 80/4.5 (budesonide 80 mcg and formoterol fumarate dihydrate 4.5 mcg) Inhalation Aerosol effect the eyes? Does it raise the interocular pressure if used with known glaucoma? Avatar f tn Hi, There is no such thing as allergy getting worse with age.Allergies are your body's way of reacting to perceived threats in your environment. When the body is exposed to a substance you are allergic to, called a trigger or allergen, your immune system tries to fight off the assault by producing an antibody called immunoglobulin E (IgE).
Avatar m tn ve tried to manage it the best I can with diet, medication, and lifestyle changes. My GI doctor had me on Lomotil for a long time. And it was ok. I am now close to finishing my second round and Entocort has done wonders. Golfnut60 Note: This medication is used to treat certain bowel conditions (such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis). While budesonide does not cure these conditions, it may decrease symptoms such as pain and diarrhea.
Avatar f tn But know that you do have the choice to ask to not be given a generic. People are suffering with this garbage medication. I do blame my doctor for not looking into why or how it was switched and allowing me to just go without. I spent the next 3 months going through Albuterol inhalers and albuterol in my nebulizer. And also then Budesonide in my nebulizer. Nothing helped. I was having near-death experiences trying to get to the nebulizer to open up my air passages.
