Boniva or reclast

Common Questions and Answers about Boniva or reclast

boniva

Avatar f tn I had a bad reaction to Fosamax with severe digestive upset. Worse reactionwith Reclast;extremely swollen right leg especially around knee joint - could not even bend knee, terrible hip pain and two days later a tooth abscess. What are the chances I can tolerate Boniva once a month? My Endocrinologist wants me to try it.
Avatar f tn My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. This discussion is related to Atrial Fibulation / Multi-Infarct Dimentia.
294425 tn?1288528395 I need to go on either IV Boniva or Reclast (too advanced for any of the pills to be useful) - anyone know anything about either of them? I am now having to use my cane pretty much whenever I am out of the house, cause my balance is extra bad lately, and I simply can't risk breaking a hip and having to rehab in a nursing home right now. I just wasn't ready to cross that threshold yet emotionally, you know? But I am trying to be a big girl about it, and just move on.
Avatar f tn in 2009 my numbers had worsened by 5%, even with Boniva, then Fosamax. I have many of the symptoms of hyperparathyroid, most notably new dx of A-Fib in the last year. What should I do? Should I be concerned?
Avatar n tn They are given generally prescribed orally and include Fosamax, Actonel and Boniva. They can cause some severe stomach distress as they did for my father. When this happens there are injectable forms of bisphosphonates. Ibandronate (Boniva injection) is injected into your vein once every three months, and zoledronic acid (Reclast) is injected once a year. If approved by your physician these treatments do not cause stomach distress and you do not have to remember to take a tablet.
89592 tn?1391274422 My dr is worried about a fall or broken hip. This would be my 3rd reclast infusion. My last dexa showed a 2% improvement. I've been hearing stories on med groups of people having issues with walking, still in a wheelchair after the infusion. these may be rare and prob are but wanted to touch base with others who have been on RECLAST. I will have to make the decision and let my rheumy know is a month or two. I have so many other things going on with my r/a.....the list grows and grows.

294425 tn?1288528395 Taking Fosamax, Actonel, Boniva, or Reclast (etc) will NOT help bones that are being attacked by a bad parathyroid. These osteoporosis drugs have no place in the treatment of parathyroid disease. 7. Parathyroid disease will get worse with time in all patients. It will not stay the same, nor will it get better on its own. 8. There is only one treatment for parathyroid disease (hyperparathyroidism): Surgery 9. Nearly all parathyroid patients can be cured with a minimal operation.
Avatar f tn Is boniva a possible cause of papilloma virus on the eyelid going into the conjunctiva? This discussion is related to uveitis of the eye caused by Boniva.
Avatar f tn No doctor ever told me that I can take Boniva, or whatever, intravenously. Now I have three doctors talking with each other to decide what medicine their going to give me. It's the end of May already and they have been bouncing this around since March!!! My 85 1/2 yr. old mother has great bones. So as I'm typing now, I just may be continuing to loose more bone. (Oh..if I take it intavenously my kidneys have to be watched more). Ugg!!! Do you take your Actonel 1 time per month?
Avatar f tn Bisphosphonates like Boniva have been associated rarely with uveitis. You would experience ocular pain, blurred vision, light sensitivity, loss of vision and possibly glaucoma if you had uveitis. Your ophthalmologist would be able to tell you right away if you had any uveitis and the Boniva could be discontinued if that were the case.
Avatar f tn I noted that for the last several months whenever I took Boniva I had significant swelling under both eyes. Thus, when this past Sunday, 5/23 I developed the papilloma on my left lower eyelid (center) which at first seemed to have a point on top & next day became more elongated I thought Boniva. I would appreciate any feedback as to cause & what possible treatment. It, not very large & seems to be same size this first week.
Avatar n tn ve had 6 cardioversions in a year and a half because medication alone did not correct my heart rhythm. Is it safe for me to take reclast? I have been diagnosed with severe osteoporosis in both hips, osteopenia in my vertebrae, and arthritis in my right hip, all of which are very painful.
Avatar m tn Hi, I posted once before a couple months ago. This question isn't directly thyroid related, however I would certainly be grateful if you could comment to the best of your ability. 3 years ago I began having a constant headache and a bone tumor was found in the frontal bone of my head. I had a nuclear bone scan and I was diagnosed with monostotic fibrous dysplasia of the skull.
212161 tn?1599427282 does anyone take Boniva and how bad were the side effects
Avatar f tn I know that the early hysterectomy has caused my bone issues(been on Fosamax and actually just started Reclast this week -2.7) but I wonder if it is effecting the breast? I went in for my annual mamo last week and have been called back yet again. New spot directly under the nipple, same breast. Sheduled US for next week. So two mamos and 2 call backs...I am nervous..is this common, should I be worried, is this what I have to look forward to every year...
Avatar f tn The technician looked at my med list and asked if I am taking Boniva and Synthroid. I answered yes. I take other meds other than those two she mentioned. I told her that I understood why she asked about the Boniva but I didn't understand why she asked about Synthroid. She told me that thyroid meds take from the bones and causes osteoporosis. WHAT??? How come no doctor ever told me?
Avatar f tn Are you talking about an infusion with Prolia or Reclast? I have had 4 Prolia infusions(injections) over the past 2 yrs. I am on a Medicare Advantage Plan and the only way I could get it covered was to go to the infusion clinic and have it covered under Medicare PART B. It is very important if you have Medicare to specify PART B because it is covered differently.
Avatar n tn I have had very little problems with Prolia. I've done 4 injections over the past 2 years. Just a little bit of bone pain for the first 2 wks after the injection then, it goes away. That said, unfortunately, for me, my DEXA did not improve and my osteoporosis in my spine (the T-score) did not get better. Now, my doctor is sending me to a 'bone' clinic that apparently specializes in bone disorders such as osteoporosis.
Avatar n tn She does not have any cramping, but they are watery. This all started when she began to take Boniva several months ago. She stopped taking it 2 months ago. I have suggested that it has not all left her system yet and this may take some time. She has not changed her diet or any meds. She is a creature of habit and eats and does the same things every day. She is 90 yrs old and still very able and mobile.
Avatar m tn While I was in Cancer Treatment I was diagnosed with Pagets disease...of the skull...They gave me Reclast...could the Reclast cause these abnormal numbers?
Avatar f tn My RA doc wanted me to take reclast for my RA. My cancer doc is concerned that my high calcium levels are indicators of my cancer spreading into my bones. I am having a bone scan on this Thursday coming up. I am usually an upbeat person, but, with my 3 year anniversary coming up this makes me very nervous. Most people live about this long after finding out they have OVCA. Is it common for this type of cancer to go to the bones. Everything I have read doesn't indicate this...
710547 tn?1295446030 My recent dexa showed a t score of -3.9 average. I had an infusion of Reclast a year ago, but due to hyperparathyroidism, can't take it anymore. I had severe bone pain afterward though and am very concerned about prolia. If I do nothing though, I'm headed to hip fracture. My dad, aunt, and grandmother all had hip fracture. I have MS and severe degenerative spinal condition, so don't need any additional problems.
Avatar n tn in order to treat osteo you need to be on fosmax/ boniva or like substances and have hrt. your doctor you should sue.... because he perscribed it while having the knowledge of your bone health knowing it decreases the amount of calcium in your bones.
