Boniva once a month

Common Questions and Answers about Boniva once a month

boniva

Avatar f tn 00, 2 hours ago To: Dr. Ray Oyakawa Thank you for your response. I noted that for the last several months whenever I took Boniva I had significant swelling under both eyes. Thus, when this past Sunday, 5/23 I developed the papilloma on my left lower eyelid (center) which at first seemed to have a point on top & next day became more elongated I thought Boniva. I would appreciate any feedback as to cause & what possible treatment.
Avatar f tn I developed osteoporosis (only 52) and my gyno-onc had me see an endocrinologist. I now take Boniva- once monthly plus a mult-vit, calcium, and vit-D twice a day. My last scan showed improvement. He wanted me to go on hormone replacement but my gyno-onc would not hear of it.
1026267 tn?1257591273 I just looked up Boniva. Noticed your age as well. From what I see on the site, it is a once a month pill not a daily one. If you have had a bone density scan recently and it shows osteoporosis, then it would be wise to take it, otherwise I would wonder about the endo pushing it on you. They might be swayed by your age and automatically assuming you have osteoporosis.
Avatar f tn extremely swollen right leg especially around knee joint - could not even bend knee, terrible hip pain and two days later a tooth abscess. What are the chances I can tolerate Boniva once a month? My Endocrinologist wants me to try it.
Avatar f tn Is boniva a possible cause of papilloma virus on the eyelid going into the conjunctiva? This discussion is related to uveitis of the eye caused by Boniva.
Avatar f tn A related discussion, Boniva cause of pappiloma conjunctiva was started.
Avatar f tn About two months ago, it got so bad, I had to buy a suppository laxative... It helps a lot, but it still is a pain. I also get diarrhea a couple of days later, but it's not as painful or as bad as the constipation. Outside of these times, I usually can go every day or every two days. I eat foods with lots of fiber, changing my diet, and I can never predict when this will happen.

Avatar n tn One of my patients asked me a question that I cannot find a reasonable answer to. She has always had regular bowel movements. Once every morning and once in the afternoon. Lately she has had an increase in her BMs. She does not have any cramping, but they are watery. This all started when she began to take Boniva several months ago. She stopped taking it 2 months ago. I have suggested that it has not all left her system yet and this may take some time. She has not changed her diet or any meds.
Avatar f tn m high risk so I get them once a month
Avatar n tn Ibandronate (Boniva injection) is injected into your vein once every three months, and zoledronic acid (Reclast) is injected once a year. If approved by your physician these treatments do not cause stomach distress and you do not have to remember to take a tablet. If these are the injections or "shots for osteoporosis" that your mom's physician is discussing there are fairly well know and widely used.
Avatar f tn I had the Nissen, but not because of the osteo but because I was coughing so hard my blood pressure went through the roof, was not on BP meds before - now am. I now take once a month Boniva and feel so much better. The Nissen is still working great - operation 10/2008.
Avatar n tn My eyelid swells up for a whole day every month. It happens only once a month and graduallt it comes back to normal size. What is the cause for this illness ?
Avatar f tn In the last 13 months I have lost my father (87 yrs old), my mother (85 yrs) and a very dear friend that I grew up with. I have a very stressful job 45-55 hrs a week. In November of last yr I noticed the symptoms again and started the process again. went from 2.5 on the thyroid test to over 9. At that time I was on 100's. Dr switched me to 112's. Six weeks later test results were 5.5. Dr switched me to 125's. After 6 weeks had another test.
Avatar f tn I just went for a Dexa-Scan for my Osteoporsis. The technician looked at my med list and asked if I am taking Boniva and Synthroid. I answered yes. I take other meds other than those two she mentioned. I told her that I understood why she asked about the Boniva but I didn't understand why she asked about Synthroid. She told me that thyroid meds take from the bones and causes osteoporosis. WHAT??? How come no doctor ever told me?
1118724 tn?1357010591 Late yesterday afternoon, around 17:30, received a call from a Genentech rep saying the alcohol pads that come in the interferon kit maybe contaminated with a bacteria. I didn't write down the name of the bacteria sooo.. the maker of the pads is Triad. They also make pads under different names, like Topco .. Did anyone else get a similar notice?
Avatar n tn t until April, so there would be enough of a space to be able to start Boniva is the bone doctor thought it was a doable plan. I don't want to be on biophosphates for a long chunk of time because of the side effects long term with them. The hormone therapy is not something that I will even entertain. I have had a hysterectomy and have no ovaries ever since age 37. I was on hormones until age 50.
Avatar f tn I had a Reclast infusion and within a month my blood pressure had gone from 120/60 to 216/112. I thought I was having a stroke. I am now taking a beta blocker to keep my bp in control. I would NEVER do Reclast again. I also tried Boniva for two months and got terrible vertigo. Since my T score is going down, I am going to try Evista.
Avatar m tn I have a female friend in Ukraine, who is getting very conflicting medical advice. Her primary issue is the loss of bone in her jaw, leaving some teeth loose. But her bone density tests (I think) are fine. One physican gave her Synthroid, another told her to stop. One perscribed Boniva, another said no, cause she is a young lady. Here are her labs. Any comments? Bone Marker Tests: TP1NP: 26.57 (Range: 20.00 to 100.0 ng/ml) Vitamins D: 42.27 (Range: 50.00 to 100.
Avatar n tn There are also newer drugs out that only require administration once/year or every six months; Prolia is a shot, administered every 6 months; Reclast is injected via IV, once/year. I'm not sure about Reclast, but I do know that Prolia comes with a whole set of possible side effects. I looked into these for my elderly aunt, who had tried Boniva and Actonel, unsuccessfully.
Avatar f tn I do take Actonel once per month. It does not upset my stomach but I do hate that morning each month. I get up, take the pill with 8 oz of water and have to stay sitting up for 30 minutes. This is not easy for me without caffeine :) While I have had stomach problems off and on, because of the omniprazole, I seem to do ok. I understand the concern about the impact on your kidneys. For awhile I was on methotrexate and had to go in every month to have my liver checked.
Avatar n tn in order to treat osteo you need to be on fosmax/ boniva or like substances and have hrt. your doctor you should sue.... because he perscribed it while having the knowledge of your bone health knowing it decreases the amount of calcium in your bones.
Avatar f tn in 2009 my numbers had worsened by 5%, even with Boniva, then Fosamax. I have many of the symptoms of hyperparathyroid, most notably new dx of A-Fib in the last year. What should I do? Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn Hi and I can so relate to your doubts on the mentioned medicines, I have given up on taking any of them and least of all any bisphosphonates the side effects are simply terrible specially Boniva, there is a site about these meds and all the posters are those women who have taken them, you can look it up under "Boniva side effects" or http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=21455&name=BONIVA, this is a forum where patients detail the side effects they had.
Avatar f tn My doc gave me a sample of Synthroid to get me through a month until I could get to a pharmacy. Docs usually carry sample packs. From what I've read, consequences vary by person. We are all different, but I don't suggest you take chances.
