Boniva infusion

Common Questions and Answers about Boniva infusion

boniva

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with osteopenia (50 & postmenopausal) a year ago. Because of my GERD, my doctor prescribed an IV infusion of Reclast. Unfortunately, I suffered some of the side effects, fever, and severe bone pain to the point of not being able to take in a full breath. My doctor was so concerned he put me on a steroid dose pack to reduce the reaction. My body doesn't seem very tolerant of any drugs, couldn't take anything other than extra strength Tylenol for a foot surgery.
Avatar f tn Is boniva a possible cause of papilloma virus on the eyelid going into the conjunctiva? This discussion is related to uveitis of the eye caused by Boniva.
Avatar f tn Bisphosphonates like Boniva have been associated rarely with uveitis. You would experience ocular pain, blurred vision, light sensitivity, loss of vision and possibly glaucoma if you had uveitis. Your ophthalmologist would be able to tell you right away if you had any uveitis and the Boniva could be discontinued if that were the case.
Avatar f tn I noted that for the last several months whenever I took Boniva I had significant swelling under both eyes. Thus, when this past Sunday, 5/23 I developed the papilloma on my left lower eyelid (center) which at first seemed to have a point on top & next day became more elongated I thought Boniva. I would appreciate any feedback as to cause & what possible treatment. It, not very large & seems to be same size this first week.
212161 tn?1599427282 does anyone take Boniva and how bad were the side effects
294425 tn?1288528395 Hi, Rita. I don't have osteoporosis, but I do have osteopenia (less than 2.5 standard deviations off). Have been treating this for many years, first with Boniva, then with Reclast. I'm way overdue for another Reclast infusion. For the last one, I didn't feel great for a day or so afterwards, but it wasn't all that bad either. I really doubt that this has anything to do with MS meds. It's largely hereditary, but aside from that, who knows?
Avatar f tn The technician looked at my med list and asked if I am taking Boniva and Synthroid. I answered yes. I take other meds other than those two she mentioned. I told her that I understood why she asked about the Boniva but I didn't understand why she asked about Synthroid. She told me that thyroid meds take from the bones and causes osteoporosis. WHAT??? How come no doctor ever told me?
Avatar f tn I developed osteoporosis (only 52) and my gyno-onc had me see an endocrinologist. I now take Boniva- once monthly plus a mult-vit, calcium, and vit-D twice a day. My last scan showed improvement. He wanted me to go on hormone replacement but my gyno-onc would not hear of it.
Avatar f tn extremely swollen right leg especially around knee joint - could not even bend knee, terrible hip pain and two days later a tooth abscess. What are the chances I can tolerate Boniva once a month? My Endocrinologist wants me to try it.
Avatar n tn I have had very little problems with Prolia. I've done 4 injections over the past 2 years. Just a little bit of bone pain for the first 2 wks after the injection then, it goes away. That said, unfortunately, for me, my DEXA did not improve and my osteoporosis in my spine (the T-score) did not get better. Now, my doctor is sending me to a 'bone' clinic that apparently specializes in bone disorders such as osteoporosis.
Avatar n tn She does not have any cramping, but they are watery. This all started when she began to take Boniva several months ago. She stopped taking it 2 months ago. I have suggested that it has not all left her system yet and this may take some time. She has not changed her diet or any meds. She is a creature of habit and eats and does the same things every day. She is 90 yrs old and still very able and mobile.
Avatar m tn But her bone density tests (I think) are fine. One physican gave her Synthroid, another told her to stop. One perscribed Boniva, another said no, cause she is a young lady. Here are her labs. Any comments? Bone Marker Tests: TP1NP: 26.57 (Range: 20.00 to 100.0 ng/ml) Vitamins D: 42.27 (Range: 50.00 to 100.0 nmol/l) Osteocalcin: 19.49 (Range: 11.00 to 43.00 ng/ml) B-CTx: . 265 (Range: ???) Parathormone: 30.02 (Range: 15.00 to 65.00 pg/ml) Calsium 2.
Avatar n tn in order to treat osteo you need to be on fosmax/ boniva or like substances and have hrt. your doctor you should sue.... because he perscribed it while having the knowledge of your bone health knowing it decreases the amount of calcium in your bones.

Avatar f tn I was taking the hormones to help my bones, as I have osteopenia and rheumatoid arthritis. I am on prescription drugs to help the bones (Boniva and calcium and vit. d). I'm worried about breast cancer with continuing the hormones. I had a partial mastectomy on my right breast which was benign. I had a cluster of microcalcifications which looked supicious, but turned out to be benign (big sigh)! Okay now my question.
Avatar f tn I cannot take the Boniva that has been prescribed for me as I also have Gastroparesis. I only take Lipitor right now. I was on Tapezole for 4 years because I also have Graves Disease.
Avatar f tn Also forgot to mention that last December my gyno put me on Boniva as according to my last two dexascans my numbers have dropped drastically. I am very worried about taking the Boniva. The first week after I take it I feel like I am coming down with the flu. Can all these issues be related to the thyroid?
Avatar n tn They are given generally prescribed orally and include Fosamax, Actonel and Boniva. They can cause some severe stomach distress as they did for my father. When this happens there are injectable forms of bisphosphonates. Ibandronate (Boniva injection) is injected into your vein once every three months, and zoledronic acid (Reclast) is injected once a year. If approved by your physician these treatments do not cause stomach distress and you do not have to remember to take a tablet.
Avatar f tn Hello. I'm sorry, first of all, that your mom is having the sleeping problems. In the end, that affects every day because without a decent sleep, it is hard to function. I liked the honey and milk and that solution as it sounds nice and natural which I wish everything could be to help all of us with medical issues. However........just in case it does not work........I would suggest that first of all, mom has a COMPLETE workup with blood tests, urine tests, etc.
Avatar n tn s Field Trainers testing the new infusion sets were telling Medtronic that the new infusion sets were of a defective design. The infusion sets would jam inside Insertion Devices, inducer needles would get stuck inside the cannulas, the infusion set adhesives would dry up and allow the Quick-Set Plus to come off the patient, and the infusion sets themselves would interrupt the delivery of insulin.
Avatar m tn Mother is in the hospital, the nurse to mother infusion, mother infusion right arm is swollen, nurses decided to use mother left arm infusion, let me help pass the infusion tube, I was taken finger once by infusion tube needles, four weeks later , I catch a cold, have a fever, played a few urticaria, urticaria up immediately after disappear, after eleven days I have a sore throat, then 12 days after again a few urticaria up, until now has more than forty days, appeared the chest, neck, thigh pai
Avatar n tn for the treatment of Osteoporosis and all have some value. One with a similar name (Boniva) is used quite often and is said to have good results. Since we deal strictly with Breast Cancer issues on this Community you might look at the top of the page under "Health Information" where you will find a subtitle "Osteoporosis" and post there or read other posts and comments. 1221035 tn?1301000508 I had my second infusion on Wednesday of last week. During my infusion, I was freezing/chilling. I asked for a blanket and a little later, when I was still so cold, they adjusted the A/C. Nothing was said to me that chills could be a reaction. As soon as I left, I felt nausea, dizziness, off balance, jello legs, I fell against the wall outside of the building on my way out.....and I had this internal tremor/vibration shaking feeling inside.
Avatar n tn Hi Belle - Are you asking if you can travel with the actual infusion set up or are you asking if you can travel while receiving monthly Tysabri infusions? If it's the first one, I've never heard of home based, self-administered Tysabri. I would imagine that if you needed to be away from home during your infusion window you could get referred to an infusion center near where you'll be. If it;s the second one, yes you can travel in between infusions.
