does anyone take Boniva and how bad were the side effects

I monitor this site for info on my eye condition. I do not know if the papilloma specifically is related, but Boniva and drugs like it can cause swelling around the eyes as you describe. Just read any website discussing adverse effects of Boniva. I think it worth discussing with your doctor. You should be very aware and cautious of any facial swelling while on Boniva.

If she has ever taken Boniva, she should worry. Google Osteonecrosis of the jaw, many drugs like Fosomax have bad side effects. A friend lost several teeth and parts of her jaw due to this. She eventually had to have cadaver bone to replace the bone she lost, then implants. She should take other types of calcium supplements.

hi...I have the same disease as your mom, I have had cortisone shot for hips and another in sept. the first one did help immensley however the effects were short term. It was also recommended I have a 'nerve block' for the spine however I haven't proceeded to this as of yet(leave for last resort) You can get tons of info at this site www.spine-health.

I heard yesterday that Boniva would cause eye disorders called uveitis and sleraderma? Does this bone medicine cause eye problems? I have an eye disorder called Fuchs cornea dystrophy and have recently had cataract surgery in both eyes ;however one eye keeps feeling irritated.

It is now diminishing in size and I am hopeful it will vanish but I hesitate to continue on Boniva.

for the treatment of Osteoporosis and all have some value. One with a similar name (Boniva) is used quite often and is said to have good results. I was taking the hormones to help my bones, as I have osteopenia and rheumatoid arthritis. I am on prescription drugs to help the bones (Boniva and calcium and vit. d). I'm worried about breast cancer with continuing the hormones. I had a partial mastectomy on my right breast which was benign. I had a cluster of microcalcifications which looked supicious, but turned out to be benign (big sigh)! Okay now my question.

Because of my GERD, my doctor prescribed an IV infusion of Reclast. Unfortunately, I suffered some of the side effects, fever, and severe bone pain to the point of not being able to take in a full breath. My doctor was so concerned he put me on a steroid dose pack to reduce the reaction. My body doesn't seem very tolerant of any drugs, couldn't take anything other than extra strength Tylenol for a foot surgery. I will have to figure out something else with an endocronologist?

also i seem to have multiple clacifications thoughout my body and bone pain lt.wrist and hand especially my knees and legs . my tsh level for the past yr are high and recently vit d deficiant . i take 112mcg of levothyroxine now .what bothers me the most is the bone pain that limits activity and the fatigue i feel at times . in my heart i feel tsh meds have side effects that really need to be addressed ! in order to treat osteo you need to be on fosmax/ boniva or like substances and have hrt. your doctor you should sue.... because he perscribed it while having the knowledge of your bone health knowing it decreases the amount of calcium in your bones.

My doctor wants me to start taking Plaquenil. I have chronic inflamation of my stomach and esphogus. The doc stated that Plaquenil is easier on the stomach so I shouldn't take the hydroxycholotquine. Can someone tell me if either med causes heartburn? Also, I would appreciate if you can tell me what side effects you have from it and how long you've been on it. I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and have noticed that recently I have a lot of pain in my teeth and jaw. This has prompted me to wonder if osteoporosis affects the teeth in general as they are inbedded in bone? And how so?

The technician looked at my med list and asked if I am taking Boniva and Synthroid. I answered yes. I take other meds other than those two she mentioned. I told her that I understood why she asked about the Boniva but I didn't understand why she asked about Synthroid. She told me that thyroid meds take from the bones and causes osteoporosis. WHAT??? I was told that it would worsen after the chemo (carbo/taxoterre), and it did. Not terribly, but a decrease in bone mass just that same. I started on Boniva and my cholesterol shot up about 120 points. I just stopped that recently and my numbers dropped by 80 points. Seems there are downsides for everything. I started noticeing side effects at about 8pm, and they continued till this morning. I experienced a low grade headache, aches in my upper legs and lower back, some difficulty sleeping, and an awkward kind of dizziness (which I notice now seems to immediately follow my Riba dose).
